Mission: Mission & Vision We ignite the child's innate love of learning in a diverse and nurturing community by integrating authentic Montessori philosophy with contemporary research-based educational methods. We empower each individual to make knowledgeable, responsible, and peaceful contributions to the global community
Results: Since 2006, we have grown enrollment from 28 students to 100 within five years. We maintained a net-neutral budget for each of the first three years of operation. We have added a toddler program, two early childhood classrooms and launched Louisville's first Montessori middle school program. We relocated our facility in 2009 to improve our students' Montessori experience by obtaining access to green space and expansion capabilities. We achieved accreditation in 2010 by the Southern Association of Colleges & Schools Council on Accreditation & Continuous Improvement (SACS CASI).
Target demographics: children ages 18 months to 14 years and their families in the Metro Louisville (KY) area
Direct beneficiaries per year: over 100 projected for 2011-12 school year
Programs: In the 2016-2017 school year, the montessori school of louisville served 164 children ranging from the ages between 18 months and 14 years old. Msl operated the following classroom environments: two toddler (ages 18 to 36 months), three early childhood (ages 3 to 6 years), two lower elementary (ages 6 to 9 years), one upper elementary (ages 9 to 11 years), and one adolescent (ages 12 to 14 years). Each classroom environment was staffed with a montessori-certified lead teacher and a classroom assistant. After-school extended care was staffed with three teachers; an extensive selection of after-school clubs were offered (e. G. Chess, choir, art, drama, tennis, soccer and swimming). Two full time administrators, a full time office manager, and a full time financial manager serve as support for the school operations. In conjunction to its accreditation by the southern association of colleges and schools council for accreditation, msl's application for ams (american montessori society) accreditation was accepted. Together as a community, we completed our three-year comprehensive school improvement plan and created our new five-year strategic plan. The school community conducted an annual fund drive, numerous pto-led fundraisers, a gala auction and festival of the arts. These activities provided resources for the creation of an indoor movement space, as well as future technology purchases and program expansion.
