Mission: The mission of Mobile Mutts Rescue Transports is to transport “death row” dogs from high-kill shelters in the south to the safety of screened and approved foster-based rescues throughout the Midwest. We have recently expanded to include a small foster-based animal rescue utilizing our volunteer network. This rescue will provide food and veterinarian services for the dogs until they are adopted into their forever homes.

After hearing about Mobile Mutts from a coworker, I volunteered the 1st time to be an overnighter in Champaign, IL - now you can call me a Foster Failure - our 1st pup we adopted ;) We have overnighted, drove a leg on their journey, and shared their story by advertising. They are so organized & informative! You are educated on safety & encouraged to be the Best for those young & old who deserve better! Deserve a Furever home of their own! TY MM for allowing me to be a part of your mission.

I volunteer with Terrell County Animal Control in Dawson, GA and Mobile Mutts Rescue Transports helps to get dogs from our shelter to their rescues in IL & MN. We value the Mobile Mutts Volunteers - they work so hard every weekend to get our dogs and dogs from TN & KY to their rescues and have saved so many lives! The work that they do and the dedication that they have is amazing! I've attached photos of just a few of the dogs that Mobile Mutts Volunteers have helped transport to rescue! Thank you for all that you do!

We began working with Mobile Mutts 4 years ago in saving pups from high kill southern shelters - to screened, approved rescues in the North. The level of integrity, commitment to safety, love & compassion shown for the dogs is second to none. This organization is one who sets a standard in excellence for transport & the rescues they partner with.

Every transport I fall in love and then I pass my new friend to another volunteer driver so they can fall in love too. These dogs come from high kill shelters to travel FREE to a foster based rescue or home. Mobile Mutts checks out drivers before they even see a dog. The transports may include dogs moving from Georgia to Wisconsin in personal cars with loving volunteers. The amount of organization required is staggering and it happens every week.

The Knox-Whitley Animal shelter has been very blessed to be partner with Mobile Mutts. Mobile Mutts has been a great and very professional organization to work with. Mobile Mutts has a great representative that actually comes to our shelter to visit and work directly with our staff. The Knox-Whitley Animal shelter is thankful for the opportunity to work with a organization with accountability and the love to help us save lives.

I have worked with Mobile Mutts for the last 2 years, in transport, coordinator, and occasional "air wing" capacity. This is a professional organization, with rules and organization focused on the safe and secure transport of unwanted shelter animals to loving rescues, fosters, and adopters.

They regularly move 20+ animals most weekends from south of Atlanta to Minneapolis MN, often in inclement weather. Their solid communications plan ensures regular updates from all stops, lead drivers and state-by-state coordination. They are constantly improving the quality of their logistics, communications, and on-the-ground tactical plans.

They work ahead when changes are coming, to ensure compliance in advance. Where other organizations might try to "fly under the radar", Mobile Mutts is always planning ahead. They also vet their volunteers ahead (you must be recommended by another driver), and regularly review their operations to identify challenges before they become problems.

The organization regularly recruits vet students and other volunteers for overnight hosting on the route, and employs a range of volunteer coordinators and monitors to provide a quality experience for all participants with minimum overhead for drivers and field personnel.

It has been my pleasure and my honor to work with this organization in the past, and I look forward to many more years of safely moving dogs from shelter to rescue and forever homes.

Southern states are over-burdened with pets, and the euthanasia rates in Southern shelters can reach 90% or more. This is due not only to families unable to provide for their pets financially, but also to the low rate of neutering and the lack of laws preventing animal abuse and abandonment.

Mobile Mutts is truly exceptional in its mission. It begins with each dog being vetted by a Mobile Mutts volunteer. Every dog transported is first given the medical attention that he needs, and an evaluation of his temperament for transport. Most dogs are first placed in foster homes, where a volunteer observes his behavior and acclimates him to socializing with both other dogs and other humans.

When a dog is chosen for transport, the 'receiving' rescue organization is notified, and has the final say in acceptance. The receiving rescue commits to the animal for life, and with each rescue another beautiful pet is spared from death.

Mobile Mutts plays the critical role of delivering the dog from the 'sending' shelter to the 'receiving' rescue. Without Mobile Mutts, the two could never connect.

There are many transport organizations who bring dogs up from the over-burdened South to the 'enlightened' North. I've worked for several.

Mobile Mutts is exceptional, and has no equal. From the incredible organization of an all-volunteer hierarchy, to each driver who volunteers his time each week, they save more dogs in one week than any other transport organization will do in several months. Every transport is closely monitored, and the safety of the animals, and the transporters is paramount.

Each week MANY volunteers work 20-40 hours coordinating the effort to save up to twenty dogs per week, every week of the year. To date Mobile Mutts has rescued more than 3,000 dogs,

Mobile Mutts Rescue Transports is truly a GREAT nonprofit, and NO ONE within the organization is paid a dime!

I have volunteered transporting for Mobile Mutts since 2014 after learning about them from a college friend. I so enjoy being with other animal advocates and look so forward to meeting each dog on every transport I do. And, of course, having a part in saving so many canine lives is priceless! I talk about Mobile Mutts every chance I get and am so proud to be a part of such a great organization!

Working with Mobile Mutts is such a rewarding experience. It is well-run and very organized. Their main focus is the safe transport of dogs. The amount of love and affection you receive from all the dogs is well worth the time. Mobile Mutts really cares about these animals as well as their volunteers.

I am the President and Transport Coordinator for Mobile Mutts Rescue Transports. Like so many in our group I started off as a driver after learning about MMRT when our adopted Basset Hound Hank hitched a ride. I was sold! After many weekends of transporting and learning the ropes of how the transport operated I was asked to takeover the group. Mobile Mutts v2.0 was then formed in 2012, thanks to all the wonderful volunteers we have grown. We are now a 501(c)3 Non-profit charity, we have opened our own Rescue based in Champaign, IL with a chapter in the Chicagoland area. This summer we will reach a milestone of 4,000 dogs transported since 2012 with the formation of MM v2.0.
In 2015 due to some health issue I had to reduce the time I could spend on the day to day operation of the group. So many of our volunteers stepped up to take on the many duties I used to perform. With such spirit and dedication we continue to transport each weekend to save them all. The willingness of so many to give so much week after week is the driving force behind this wonderful organization. We will continue to grow and save dogs each week, just like me and all of our volunteers, it makes our heart full to be a part of something that is bigger than we are.
We do have a goal, the same goal of all of those involved in animal rescue. That is to wake up one morning and the need to do what we do is gone! Adopt, spay&neuter and advocate for all of our animal friends!

I have been a volunteer driver and overnighter since 2012. This group of people are amazing. I am proud to be part of this wonderful group of awesome people. It is all for the love of helping the pups. I do not do this for money. I do it because I am saving lives. You know by looking into their eyes they are thankful for what you do for them. Also, the puppy kisses you also get. That is how I adopted my Miss Betsy. She was an overnight guest and decided to adopt her. But Mobile Mutts is my family. Could not ask for a better rescue around. Great job Mobile Mutts. Very organized and professional when it comes to the rescue group. Hard working people willing to give up their time for a wonderful cause which is the love of saving precious lives.

As a board member I am going to give MMRT a 5 Start rating, not just because we are a great organization, but because of the reason we are 5 Stars. Our volunteers are what make this a group a top notch rescue transport. "It's All About The Dogs" is how we roll each week from Georgia to Minnesota. Without our volunteer drivers, overnight hosts, coordinators and committee members we couldn't do this, we are truly a family dedicated to the safety and well being of all of our passengers. I can never remember being part of a group with this kind of commitment.
There is of course a down side to the great work. We generally run with a 4-5 week wait list. Even with constant recruiting of new volunteers we can't keep up with all the dogs that need our help. And we are not the only rescue transport group, there are hundreds nation wide. This is why in addition to our transport we have opened our own rescue. Mobile Mutts Rescue to adopt loving dogs into new and wonderful families. We will continue to advocate for adoption over purchasing a dog, spay & neuter of all dogs ( and cats) and laws protecting dogs from abuse!
As I have mentioned we are what we are because of volunteers. Being a non-profit charity means just that, we do not make money, but rely on fund raising and donations. We are also proud to say that no member of Mobile Mutts Rescue Transports get paid! No salaries for anyone in the entire organization.

I've been driving for Mobile Mutts since it first started. I look forward each week to seeing all the dogs and the wonderful volunteers. We all strive to get the dogs to a new life in the safest way possible. It is so rewarding to see the dogs happy, ready to start their new lives (and the doggie kisses don't hurt either!) This is my favorite picture and no, she was not growling but you would ask her to smile and this is what she did. She knew she was on a way to a better life.

There are many animal transports but I'd guarantee there is not another one like Mobile Mutts Rescue Transports, Inc. NFP. The commitment to safety of the dogs and the drivers is second to none. There is incredible attention paid to the details of each and every passenger to ensure their journey to their new home is the very best it can be. The time shared by volunteers is well recognized and treasured. Everyone is welcoming, kind and always avaliable for any questions and welcome any input.

I have been driving for Mobile Mutts Rescue Transports since 2013, and I am continually impressed with their focus on safety and comfort for the dogs on transport. All of the rules that are in place are to keep dogs as safe as possible until they can get to their rescues and furever homes. All of the coordinators that keep things running smoothly week in and week out are excellent, and I love my fellow drivers. For me, Mobile Mutts feels like a family, and I couldn't be prouder to volunteer my time with this group, in service of wonderful animals.

I have had an absolute wonderful experience volunteering for Mobile Mutts Rescue Transports! I started volunteering about 2 years ago by overnighting transport dogs in Champaign, IL and also driving a leg or 2 on the rescue dogs' journey from a shelter with euthanasia as an end point to rescue organizations that help adopt dogs to good homes. I have had excellent experiences with fellow volunteers and it feels good to help transport these pups to their furever homes!
