Mission: International Friends is designed to help and support International Students at Missouri State develop quality friendships and expand awareness of cultural competency.
Results: Each year approximately 1,500 international students visit and are enrolled at Missouri University from a variety of 80+ countries. After both host and students complete the application and orientations, the students are matched with a community host. Host may be single, couple, with or without children. Students remain living on campus during their visit. No boarding or fiscal responsibility is placed on host(s). What the host does need - is an open and welcoming attitude and heart. Students have left their support system back in their home country. While studying abroad here, in a 2nd language, they appreciate building friendships and learning more about our culture here in the US.
Target demographics: Education. International Students attend MSU for academic and practicum experience, and thirdly, to experience US culture.
Geographic areas served: Springfield, MO and local counties Webster, and Christian
