Mission: To be a leader in providing solutions and resources to improve patient safety and the quality of health care delivery by conducting activities in collaboration with healthcare providers, physicians, purchasers, consumers and government.
Programs: Pso services for hospital, ems, and ambulatory surgery center providers continued to expand to over 365 organizations with the largest increase in ems participants. Over 10,000 additional reports of medical errors, near misses, and unsafe conditions were reported to the center in 2014 with analysis of the data being reported back to participants and learning from the data shared anonymously via newsletter and safety watches. Regional pso participant meetings were held in the fall of 2014 for hospital and ambulatory surgery center participants. Pso services for long-term care expanded in 2014 providing additional focused just culture training safety culture assessment, and introduction to pso participation within a grant from the missouri foundation for health. The center also held its 8th annual patient safety conference in march 2014 and the 5th annual ems patient safety conference in may for ems providers. Work for the missouri hospital engagement network (hen), leading 5 of 10 clinical topic areas, and cauti collaboratives continued via a contract with the missouri hospital association throughout 2014 which included coaching calls, on-site visits to participants, support for data collection, collaboration on cross-cutting topics of culture, senior leader and patient and family engagement. Safety culture assessment activities increased 31% in 2014 providing safety culture survey services for hospitals, long-term care, home care and medical offices.
