MASC provides opportunities. Opportunities for my students to have one-of-a-kind leadership experiences like Summer Workshop and Winter Energizer. It provides opportunities for students and advisors to share and collectively make schools better. It provides me with a network of other outstanding advisors, teachers, and people that are will support and help me be successful. MASC provides the motivation to continue to work hard to improve our school.
Great organization, great leadership, nothing better in Missouri for students and student leadership.
MASC is vital to the upbringing of future community leaders. They are organized and know just how to inspire and lead teens to doing great things. Top notch people and top notch organization!
MASC far exceeds the leadership experience I had originally expected when I first became an advisor. They make a room of hundreds of kids feel like they're family. They have made me feel like I belong and DEFINITELY made me a better advisor, teacher, and person....always pushing me to do bigger and better things for my kids. Generous, caring, and world changers.....enough said!
I have been involved with MASC for over ten years now and as an educator, it has by far surpassed any experiences I have had with educational or leadership training. The association is student oriented with a focus on service to students, schools and communities at large. The charity of choice is the Special Olympics of Missouri (SOMO) and many many events focused not simply on raising money for the organization but also service of time and energy. The relationship between our students and their athletes is quite strong and lifetime friendships are developed. I could not be more proud to be part of this organization and the training it provides, the networking opportunities and service by example to many.
MASC is an invaluable organization which gives the student leaders of Missouri multiple leadership opportunities.
MASC is an amazing organization that helps students become great leaders. There are many workshops and conferences available to students because of MASC. Each event also incorporates a service project in which students are able to help give back to those in need. They've helped veterans, natural disaster victims, etc. In addition, MASC has a charity of choice, Special Olympics Missouri, that they partner with in SOMO events and by financial donations as well.
Thanks to MASC, school cultures are changing for the better, focusing on character elements like kindness, respect, honesty, and more. MASC truly works to make our schools and our communities better.
This group helps hundreds of young people gain personal leadership skills and help change their communities.
I was a part of MASC for six years at Smithville schools student councils. I learned so much from this program and I still feel that MASC will always be home for me. I can't imagine my life without student council and I know I wouldn't be the leader and person I am today without the years of activities, friends, and lessons from MASC.
MASC helps build positive student leaders, adult leaders in schools and is very service oriented. Our school is a better place because of MASC!
MASC is one of the best things I have ever been a part of. MASC has taught me so much about myself, leadership, kindness, and how to make an impact on people and my community. My best friends and mentors are from MASC and I’m so thankful for that. I definitely would not be who I am today if MASC hadn’t challenged me to grow the way it did. I love that I am MASC made!!!
MASC is a life-changer for my students, as well as for myself in the role of Advisor. Students are taking the leadership training they receive at MASC events back to their own schools to help build a positive school culture. Students who were once comfortable being in the background have stepped out of their comfort zones and taken on huge leadership roles within our school, and after graduation, due to the leadership training they have experienced. MASC is second-to-none, and I'm so grateful for this nonprofit organization.
MASC is a life-changer...for my students, as well as for myself as an Advisor. Time and time again, the opportunities presented by this wonderful organization have helped take kids who are quiet, or shy, or scared, or who wouldn't normally be found in the spotlight, and turned them into phenomenal leaders. Those kids who are natural-born leaders have honed their leadership skills as a result of the workshops and training provided by MASC. The leadership skills and networking these students receive lasts well beyond their high school year. As an Advisor for my high school's Student Council, I receive so much support from Terri Johnson and from MASC members all across the state. MASC also does a great deal for Special Olympics, an organization that is dear to many of us. When I talk to my graduates who were members of Stuco and ask them what things about their high school careers had the most impact on their lives, they inevitably will talk about Stuco and how MASC helped them become better leaders and better people. I love this organization, and my dedication to it grows with each passing year!
This nonprofit made all the difference to me when I was in junior high and high school. I truly would not be the same person I am today without MASC. This organization teaches young people the necessary leadership skills to stand out among the rest. It gave me the tools to be successful as a student in college and had opened so many doors for me networking wise.
Missouri Association of Student Councils is excellent at keeping its members informed and up to date on all current and upcoming events. Affton HS StuCo depends on them greatly.
Masc is a wonderful organization that has helped me and countless others learn how to become better leaders. It’s helped me learn how to get better at public speaking with practice speaking at different events and how to get different events organized. It also gives back to special Olympics of Missouri by donations and by helping connect students and building relationships through the organization.
Missouri Association of Student Councils is SUCH a worth-while organization! The focus is on students and developing fabulous student leaders in today's youth! I have nothing but great things to say about MASC!
My council is part of the Missouri Association of Student Councils. They provide excellent leadership camps and conventions for the students and advisors. The state leaders are there to provide us support and help through emails, phone calls, etc.
Missouri Association of Student Councils is a phenomenal organization. "Inspire Greatness. Serve Others. Be More. Lead." is the mission of MASC and they do all of those big time! Whether it's serving as a network for StuCo advisors around the state or a resource for student councils to use to improve what they're doing around their schools and communities, MASC is always there to help.
I have been a part of Missouri Association of Student Councils since my freshmen year at their state convention. Ever since that amazing experience I have been devoted to MASC and all they do. I have attended their district conferences, state conferences, and their Summer Leadership Workshop. They have helped me develop and grow my leadership skills and they have helped me become who I am today. I love Missouri Association of Student Councils. I have made many friends and received many valuable experiences through this nonprofit.
Missouri Association of Student Council has changed my life. This organization has taught me things that I wouldn't have learned anywhere else. They have given me lifelong friends and unforgettable memories. I have become a stronger leader and a better person by being apart of MASC.
Missouri Association of Student Councils have provided me with so many different opportunities. With MASC I was able to attend a summer leadership camp that was eye opening and one the best weeks all summer. At this camp I was able to learn more about leadership, networking, and community service for Special Olympics Missouri. MASC provides a wide range of opportunities for all students, and I encourage everyone to join.
MASC hosts amazing summer workshops for students. It offers them wonderful experiences with leadership, and offers the chance to meet new people.
MASC is a wonderful organization. They provide countless benefits to young leaders in our school and across the state of Missouri. This group is full of hardworking leaders that devote so much time to improving the educational experience for all of our young leaders.
One of my students went to Fulton Leadership Camp and came back a different child. She was shy and not confident in her leadership abilities prior to her going to camp and when she came back for her Senior year of school she emitted confidence. She had LOVED her experience at camp and was ready to jump into the school year and get things done. She also cannot wait to go back to camp and work with other leaders.
MASC has given me and so many other Missouri Student Council students opportunities that we never will receive anywhere else. This camp, unlike any other, gives us skills that will be useful for the rest of our lives. I have made amazing friendships through this camp and I look forward to seeing where they take me. MASC has also provided me with a boost of confidence. All the staff members, counselors, and other delegates, have made me truly believe that I can do anything I set my mind to.
MASC is a top-notch organization that changes the lives of the people (students and advisors) for the better. Having been on both sides--as a kid and as an adult--I can vouch for the incredible opportunities MASC offers for self-improvement as a leader and a person. The things I learned, and continue to learn, because of the work and people involved in the Missouri Association of Student Councils have helped me in every aspect of my life.
MASC has been such a wonderful organization to be a part of, not only for me but my students. They provide high quality face-to-face teaching experiences for young leaders throughout the year. These conferences and camps energize and guide students and advisors of all skill levels. I truly appreciate how smoothly and promptly this organizations operates. They are terribly helpful and supportive!
Missouri Association of Student Councils gives back to the community consistently. We are building better leaders for tomorrow.
MASC changed my life. It gave me the experience of seeing diverse perspectives and appreciating the contributions we all bring to society. It also taught me how to organize, manage, and communicate effectively. This is a positive, results-based organization I am proud to be part of.
MASC trains future leaders and gives and gives to any and all service projects in Missouri. I was an advisor for over 15 years and both of my kids benefited from the leadership opportunities offered by MASC. Not only did my daughter get to be a Junior Counselor, work that informs her career as a school psychologist, but my ADHD/SOCIAL ANXIETY DISORDER son was trained to speak in groups and be a part of leadership activities, culminating in a speech before the MASC leaders at camp (700 people). Their focus on supporting Special Olympics is amazing. This is the best leadership program for students in Missouri. Top notch!
MASC is a great organization! The students learn so much from the events they attend. MASC focuses on supporting kindness and inclusion of all and works very hard to instill that in the students.
MASC has changed my life forever. It gave me amazing friends and taught me how to be a great leader. It also has helped me become a better version of myself. I have learned how to get out of my box and do something new. It’s taught me to not be afraid of failure. Without MASC I wouldn’t be the person I am today and for that I am forever grateful.
Before I became a part of MASC, I was someone who wouldn’t dare put myself out there in any aspect of life or take any leap of faith, big or small. When I joined this organization as a freshman in high school, I had no idea of the magnitude of effect that it would take on me. I attended the MASC Summer Leadership Workshop at William Woods University for the first time going into my sophomore year, and it changed my life forever. In just 7 short days, I had found a new version of myself, the best one might I add. Since then I have returned to the camp twice, once having served as a junior counselor with the hope of instilling the same level of confidence and self worth in other high school students across the state of Missouri. I have never met a better group of both students and adults that share one common goal: to ensure that every last person we interact with achieves a sense of importance and purpose. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without the Missouri Association of Student Councils, and for that I will be forever grateful.
MASC is an amazing organization that shapes young student leaders into great citizens and overall better people! Their events give you experiences and friends that will last forever. I could never be able to express the amazing things they’ve done for me and how grateful I am for them!
This organization has done so much to prepare me for leadership through middle school and high school, but even for life beyond. I attended every possible event that was offered through MASC in my StuCo career, and I do not regret a single one. The person I was before MASC and the person I am now are complete opposites and I am so thankful for that.
Today's youth can benefit greatly from the Leadership skills gained at MASC events - like Summer Leadership Camp, State Conventions as well as District Conventions.
MASC is a fantastic organization led by an amazing director, Terri Johnson. The group lives up to its motto to INSPIRE GREATNESS. SERVE OTHERS. DO MORE. LEAD. Their best work is conducted in conjunction with Special Olympics of Missouri. MASC truly promotes meaningful inclusion.
MASC is a premier student leadership group and supports student council advisers and student members across Missouri. As a member for over 20 years, I appreciate the high quality programming and resources MASC provides. But, the best part of this group are the great connections with like-minded educators across the state who work with their student councils to create positive, inclusive school environments. Fort Osage High School is a better place because of our involvement with MASC.
Our high school has been a member of MASC for nearly 20 years, and our Student Council and school are both better thanks to the ideas and support this organization provides. For STUCO advisers (and other activity advisers), MASC is a network of outstanding middle and high school teachers who want to make their buildings better places for students to come to school and for teachers to come to work. Plus, we share all of our ideas - collaboration and helping are the foundation of what we do. MASC programming, from the advisers' and student conferences to our summer leadership camp are top quality and help those who attend go back to their schools and improve its culture and climate. Being a MASC member school has made me a better adviser and has helped us make long-lasting changes in our school and community.
Missouri association of student councils (MASC) roped me into their organization as soon as i started high school and even now as I'm in college i still know i have a family with terri johnson and her organization. From Special Olympics to Teacher Luncheon, MASC does it all and its all for our schools. On top its volunteer work for others they also hold a summer leadership workshop every summer, famously known within the organization as Fulton. This workshop helps create and fine tune the leaders of tommorow for the next generation.
MASC was, and will always be a family to me. They will make schools a better place and most of all they will never stop caring for each and every individual student that walks through their front doors!
MASC has shaped and polished the skills and traits I did not know I even had. They have many events to better students throughout the year but what its most impressive is that they raise money for special Olympics as well. (As if being a non profit was not already though enough!)
I loved it. I was really scared at first to go because I have a hard time getting out of my shell and communicating with others, but I surprised myself and I did come out of my shell way more then I was expecting to. I met lots of new people and gathered some really good ideas to take back to my Student Council. I learned that I shouldn't be afraid to be myself. I really am happy to have had the opportunity to go to the state conference and learned what it means to be a great leader.
My experience at MASC was incredible. It was an experience that I will never forget. We did as much as dancing to pep songs to shedding tears from keynote speakers. My personal favorite keynote speaker is A'ric Jackson. He was so inspirational and energetic. I even got a selfie with him!! To make sure I didn't forget one thing about this trip, which will be hard to forget, I vlogged everything. Something that I will always remember is meeting a new friend named Taylor. To this day, I have her social media and now text with her. Lastly, I learned the importance of STUCO and what a real leader looks like. All in all, MASC was an amazing experience where I learned the true meaning of leadership.
My name is Jasper Risenhoover! I am a 2016 graduate of Blue Eye High School in the Southwest District, a proud MASC Alumnus, and forever a part of the MASC family.
I served on Student Council for seven years from 2009 to 2016. My high school StuCo is a MASC member. I was blessed with the opportunity to experience four years of MASC StuCo Districts and three years of the MASC Summer Leadership Workshop in Fulton. I participated in Level One in 2014 on Council V, Level Two in 2015 on Council F, and served as a Level Two Junior Counselor (JC) in 2016 on Council J. In addition, I had the opportunity to earn the MASC Distinguished Student Leader Award in 2016.
MASC is an indescribably amazing family, beyond merely being a StuCo association and organization. Every single person in MASC is connected - in my opinion, divinely connected - and lifetime friendships are made. I am incredibly proud to represent MASC for the rest of my life! I pray continued blessings on MASC as it continues to positively impact lives, and in turn positively impact the state, the country, and the world. Keep Leading With GUSTO!
MASC is a fantastic leadership organization that taught me a lot in my last two years of high school. I have made friendships and learned lessons that will last a lifetime. I will always thank my advisor for asking me to join one day during my sophomore year. Thank you Mrs. Adkins for allowing me to experience one of the greatest things in my life so far!!
I had a really great time a state. I really stepped out of my comfort zone and was able to be myself without worrying about what people thought of me. I learned a lot about myself and being a leader. One of the main reasons I enjoyed MASC was that everyone was so kind and accepting.
I was thrown into a world as a first year advisor three years ago as a state officer school without knowing that piece of information . I was so HAPPY that I was thrown into this world. From that day on, my students, fellow advisors and I were all in what we call the magic of MASC. This organization allows my students full heartedly be themselves through service, spirit and networking with fellow leaders. MASC organizes great events like state and district conventions, summer leadership camp, winter energizer and now the first region 6 convention that will be hosted on Missouri soil. This organization gives my students the tools that are necessary to lead once they step their foot back into Troy Buchanan High School.
On the advisor side, they give us the opportunity to network with other advisors at advisor conference, state and district conventions, advisor program at summer workshop and many social media networking platforms. MASC has the ability to take every nook and cranny of Missouri no matter if it is a small school in the boot heel of Missouri, large school in our metro areas, or like us a big school in a small town and brings them all together as a learning community who's one goal is to "Inspire greatness, serve others, be more and LEAD".
MASC is the most amazing organization I have ever had the pleasure of being a part of. It has honestly changed my life in more ways than one. Ever better, it has helped the communities all throughout Missouri. From community service to creating leaders of the future, MASC changes lives.
I attended the leadership summer camp and State convention for two years and it shaped who I am today. I am more confident, happy, and ready to serve my community thanks to MASC.
This organization changed my life for the better & I will forever be grateful for that. As a camper for 3 years I learned more about myself & how to be an effective leader, than at any other event I had participated in. I then applied to be a JC & to my surprise I got the honor to serve for the most wonderful student council organization in the nation for 2 years in a row.
I have been made so many amazing friends and met even more amazing leaders. Without MASC I would not be half the person I am today. It is truly a place that cares about the people in it and wants the best for them.
MASC shaped me into the person I am today. I went to the MASC Summer Leadership Workshop the summer going into my sophomore year, and it transformed me. I was no long simply a poster maker. I went on to plan the biggest event my school held my sophomore year. I couldn't have done it without the motivation, education, and leadership opportunities that MASC had to offer.
This organization is so amazing. I have been part of MASC for 4 years. I have gone to two summer camps and many conferences. This organization teaches so many valuable leadership skills. It has helped transform me into an outgoing leader. I owe everything to Student Council and MASC. This organization has also helped me network and become friends with so many people around the state. Through this networking, I have gained so much advice about leadership.
My experience in Student Council has been made so great by being a part of MASC. From the Summer Leadership camp in Fulton to Districts to State Convention to our everyday leadership time in class, I am learning to be a better leader for my friends, my school and my community!
MASC has been the most life changing experience in my life. It has given me so many friends, opportunities, and lessons. It has taught me how to be a leader and how to take on every situation life throws at me. I love MASC and everything it has given me
MASC is an organization dedicated to developing generations of servant leaders. As a student, I found MASC through summer leadership workshop. From there, I was able to continue attending events, networking, and developing my leadership strengths. As my family saw the positive change it created for me, each of my younger sisters also attended camp, district, and state conventions. We each created many strong friendships and connections as kids, that we still maintain to this day. As we have all grown and found positions of leadership within our respective professional fields, each of us can attribute MASC as a foundation for who we are today! It is an organization that I truly believe is fully accessible and beneficial to any and all students- no matter their background. We all recommend it to students that we know, and can't wait until our own children are old enough to share in the 'magic' that is MASC!
MASC has changed my life in so many ways. It has provided me some once in a lifetime opportunities to utilize the leadership skills that I have obtained by being a part of this organization. My time as a STUCO representative has helped me grow and thrive in my school and community.
MASC has taught me the true meaning of friendship. Without the friends I have made through MASC I wouldn't have made it through hard times.
Without MASC, I would not be the person that I am today. In seventh grade, I attended my first MASC State Comvention which ignited my future as a leader. MASC has helped me recognize who I am as a person and helped me find the passion to help and serve others. I've met some of the most influential and amazing people in my life through this organization as well as meet some of my best friends.
When my daughter brought home a student council application 8 years ago, who would have thought it would be a life altering event for the entire family? It has been an honor to serve this organization.
MASC changes student leaders, adult advisors, and the community as a whole. Lessons in leadership, service, culture, community and inspiration become embedded in the development of these young people, which provides us with confidence and faith for a new tomorrow.
Love MASC. This organization does so much to increase leadership in young adults and infuse programs that benefit all students!
The MASC organization is the BEST! They serve the entire state of Missouri students councils and support the sponsors with retreats, conventions, resources on their website, etc. They care about their teachers and send encouraging emails and gifts to support their needs.
MASC has changed my life, I used to be really quite and not have a lot of friends. Ever since I attended camp I've learnded that you can't have a small comfort zone if you wanna have fun. They taught me that even going out of my comfort zone a little would help tremendously! I've attended every event possible since my freshman year of high school and will continue to be a part of this organization as much as I can for as long as I can!
