MASC provides opportunities. Opportunities for my students to have one-of-a-kind leadership experiences like Summer Workshop and Winter Energizer. It provides opportunities for students and advisors to share and collectively make schools better. It provides me with a network of other outstanding advisors, teachers, and people that are will support and help me be successful. MASC provides the motivation to continue to work hard to improve our school.
Missouri association of student councils (MASC) roped me into their organization as soon as i started high school and even now as I'm in college i still know i have a family with terri johnson and her organization. From Special Olympics to Teacher Luncheon, MASC does it all and its all for our schools. On top its volunteer work for others they also hold a summer leadership workshop every summer, famously known within the organization as Fulton. This workshop helps create and fine tune the leaders of tommorow for the next generation.
MASC was, and will always be a family to me. They will make schools a better place and most of all they will never stop caring for each and every individual student that walks through their front doors!
MASC has shaped and polished the skills and traits I did not know I even had. They have many events to better students throughout the year but what its most impressive is that they raise money for special Olympics as well. (As if being a non profit was not already though enough!)
I loved it. I was really scared at first to go because I have a hard time getting out of my shell and communicating with others, but I surprised myself and I did come out of my shell way more then I was expecting to. I met lots of new people and gathered some really good ideas to take back to my Student Council. I learned that I shouldn't be afraid to be myself. I really am happy to have had the opportunity to go to the state conference and learned what it means to be a great leader.
My experience at MASC was incredible. It was an experience that I will never forget. We did as much as dancing to pep songs to shedding tears from keynote speakers. My personal favorite keynote speaker is A'ric Jackson. He was so inspirational and energetic. I even got a selfie with him!! To make sure I didn't forget one thing about this trip, which will be hard to forget, I vlogged everything. Something that I will always remember is meeting a new friend named Taylor. To this day, I have her social media and now text with her. Lastly, I learned the importance of STUCO and what a real leader looks like. All in all, MASC was an amazing experience where I learned the true meaning of leadership.
My name is Jasper Risenhoover! I am a 2016 graduate of Blue Eye High School in the Southwest District, a proud MASC Alumnus, and forever a part of the MASC family.
I served on Student Council for seven years from 2009 to 2016. My high school StuCo is a MASC member. I was blessed with the opportunity to experience four years of MASC StuCo Districts and three years of the MASC Summer Leadership Workshop in Fulton. I participated in Level One in 2014 on Council V, Level Two in 2015 on Council F, and served as a Level Two Junior Counselor (JC) in 2016 on Council J. In addition, I had the opportunity to earn the MASC Distinguished Student Leader Award in 2016.
MASC is an indescribably amazing family, beyond merely being a StuCo association and organization. Every single person in MASC is connected - in my opinion, divinely connected - and lifetime friendships are made. I am incredibly proud to represent MASC for the rest of my life! I pray continued blessings on MASC as it continues to positively impact lives, and in turn positively impact the state, the country, and the world. Keep Leading With GUSTO!
MASC is a fantastic leadership organization that taught me a lot in my last two years of high school. I have made friendships and learned lessons that will last a lifetime. I will always thank my advisor for asking me to join one day during my sophomore year. Thank you Mrs. Adkins for allowing me to experience one of the greatest things in my life so far!!
I had a really great time a state. I really stepped out of my comfort zone and was able to be myself without worrying about what people thought of me. I learned a lot about myself and being a leader. One of the main reasons I enjoyed MASC was that everyone was so kind and accepting.
I was thrown into a world as a first year advisor three years ago as a state officer school without knowing that piece of information . I was so HAPPY that I was thrown into this world. From that day on, my students, fellow advisors and I were all in what we call the magic of MASC. This organization allows my students full heartedly be themselves through service, spirit and networking with fellow leaders. MASC organizes great events like state and district conventions, summer leadership camp, winter energizer and now the first region 6 convention that will be hosted on Missouri soil. This organization gives my students the tools that are necessary to lead once they step their foot back into Troy Buchanan High School.
On the advisor side, they give us the opportunity to network with other advisors at advisor conference, state and district conventions, advisor program at summer workshop and many social media networking platforms. MASC has the ability to take every nook and cranny of Missouri no matter if it is a small school in the boot heel of Missouri, large school in our metro areas, or like us a big school in a small town and brings them all together as a learning community who's one goal is to "Inspire greatness, serve others, be more and LEAD".
MASC is the most amazing organization I have ever had the pleasure of being a part of. It has honestly changed my life in more ways than one. Ever better, it has helped the communities all throughout Missouri. From community service to creating leaders of the future, MASC changes lives.
I attended the leadership summer camp and State convention for two years and it shaped who I am today. I am more confident, happy, and ready to serve my community thanks to MASC.
This organization changed my life for the better & I will forever be grateful for that. As a camper for 3 years I learned more about myself & how to be an effective leader, than at any other event I had participated in. I then applied to be a JC & to my surprise I got the honor to serve for the most wonderful student council organization in the nation for 2 years in a row.
I have been made so many amazing friends and met even more amazing leaders. Without MASC I would not be half the person I am today. It is truly a place that cares about the people in it and wants the best for them.
MASC shaped me into the person I am today. I went to the MASC Summer Leadership Workshop the summer going into my sophomore year, and it transformed me. I was no long simply a poster maker. I went on to plan the biggest event my school held my sophomore year. I couldn't have done it without the motivation, education, and leadership opportunities that MASC had to offer.
This organization is so amazing. I have been part of MASC for 4 years. I have gone to two summer camps and many conferences. This organization teaches so many valuable leadership skills. It has helped transform me into an outgoing leader. I owe everything to Student Council and MASC. This organization has also helped me network and become friends with so many people around the state. Through this networking, I have gained so much advice about leadership.
My experience in Student Council has been made so great by being a part of MASC. From the Summer Leadership camp in Fulton to Districts to State Convention to our everyday leadership time in class, I am learning to be a better leader for my friends, my school and my community!
MASC has been the most life changing experience in my life. It has given me so many friends, opportunities, and lessons. It has taught me how to be a leader and how to take on every situation life throws at me. I love MASC and everything it has given me
MASC is an organization dedicated to developing generations of servant leaders. As a student, I found MASC through summer leadership workshop. From there, I was able to continue attending events, networking, and developing my leadership strengths. As my family saw the positive change it created for me, each of my younger sisters also attended camp, district, and state conventions. We each created many strong friendships and connections as kids, that we still maintain to this day. As we have all grown and found positions of leadership within our respective professional fields, each of us can attribute MASC as a foundation for who we are today! It is an organization that I truly believe is fully accessible and beneficial to any and all students- no matter their background. We all recommend it to students that we know, and can't wait until our own children are old enough to share in the 'magic' that is MASC!
MASC has changed my life in so many ways. It has provided me some once in a lifetime opportunities to utilize the leadership skills that I have obtained by being a part of this organization. My time as a STUCO representative has helped me grow and thrive in my school and community.
MASC has taught me the true meaning of friendship. Without the friends I have made through MASC I wouldn't have made it through hard times.
Without MASC, I would not be the person that I am today. In seventh grade, I attended my first MASC State Comvention which ignited my future as a leader. MASC has helped me recognize who I am as a person and helped me find the passion to help and serve others. I've met some of the most influential and amazing people in my life through this organization as well as meet some of my best friends.
When my daughter brought home a student council application 8 years ago, who would have thought it would be a life altering event for the entire family? It has been an honor to serve this organization.
MASC changes student leaders, adult advisors, and the community as a whole. Lessons in leadership, service, culture, community and inspiration become embedded in the development of these young people, which provides us with confidence and faith for a new tomorrow.
