Mission: The organization is dedicated to the promotion of county initiatives in developmental disability services and acts as an effective catalyst in shaping public policy and practice for people with developmental disabilities.
Programs: Member services include: public policy work - work cooperatively with public officials, county leaders, and government representatives in providing technical assistance and information concerning sb40 boards and developmental disability issues. Training and technical assistance - (1) develop and write white papers on topics identified by macdds; (2) research best practices and bring in experts on best practice; (3) research and obtain training for state and federal program compliance; (4) mentor emerging county boards and newly employed executive directors in best practices and programming concerning sb40 boards; (5) facilitate networking and issue identification among executive directors; (6) identify issues and need for research and training on legal matters, medicaid compliance, national trends and best practices, or other issues and concerns; and (7) provide or arrange for local board development and training.
conducted the organization's annual conference. This conference is one of the primary venues for the association to educate attendees about best practices, policies and innovative solutions. There are a wide selection of workshops on employment, quality, finance, model programs and technology. The event is attended by over 300 individuals representing the organization members, families of individuals with developmental disabilities, vendors, and direct service personnel.
