Programs: Lowry house - continued work to restore lowry house to become headquarters for the mississippi heritage trust. Programs and events - hosted a day at the capitol on april 1 to educate legislators about the importance of preservation. - hosted the listen up! Historic preservation conference in tupelo june 8-10. - presented awards to 49 individuals and projects during the heritage awards luncheon june 10 in tupelo. - hosted a luncheon at the charnley-norwood house for the main street destination downtown conference september 15. - worked with students from jackson state university to prepare a business plan for the lowry house as part of the blueprint mississippi social entrepreneurship challenge. - co-hosted the charnley-norwood house christmas open house in ocean springs december 7. - hosted a tour of modernist buildings in meridian on december 13 as part of the ms mod project. Educational outreach - worked with coast cities to present resolutions of commendation to the mississippi department of archives and history for its work to restore historic properties after hurricane katrina. - developed the ms mod project, including a web-based application and related events to educate the public about the value of modernist architecture. - printed a 2015 calendar featuring artwork by young mississippians depicting historic places. Membership - sent out letters to those who had memberships expiring asking for renewal of memberships. - hosted the annual membership meeting at the home of bill and doyce deas in tupelo on june 8. Local preservation assistance - worked with communities on local preservation issues. Prepared support letters for preservation organizations and projects across the state including supporting local preservation efforts, recommending projects for grants, etc. - attended numerous public meetings to advocate for historic preservation issues. - spoke with numerous civic groups about the mississippi heritage trust and the importance of historic preservation. Preservation partners - worked closely with state partners including the mississippi department of archives and history and the mississippi main street association to promote historic preservation across the state. Other - public relations - spoke at events, conferences and meetings across the state on the work of mht, benefits of historic preservation and the 10 most program. - continued to update website and web-based applications.
