Causes: Blood Banks, Health, Voluntary Health Associations & Medical Disciplines
Mission: To provide a safe and adequate supply of voluntarily donated blood and blood components for patients in hospitals and to offer related services to our hospitals and other medical facilities.
Programs: The organization collected 63,844 units of red blood cells and apheresis platelets from volunteer donors. The organization distributed 92,499 blood products to area/regional hospitals to be used for patient transfusion. The organization donated $13,480 to various non-profit organizations. The organization provided the following services and goods free of charge to the community: - 788 therapeudic phlebotomies - 137 blood pressure and iron level checks - 67 medical students and interns received tours and lectures about blood banking - 107 hospital personnel attended continuing education pertaining to transfusions - 360 bottles of water were provided to children attending sickle cell camp - 15 used printers and computers were donated to jackson state university
