I first heard of Mission of Love Charities through Adenia Bradley. She invited me to the Mission to see their pantry services and the wonderful acts of kindness they are providing to the community. They provide food, shelter, clothing, baby needs and many other necessities. She later invited me to take an online "Meeting Planning" class. I ended of loving the class and the nature of the position. i spoke with the instructor after the session and she guided me in the right direction to career switch from education into Meeting Planning. I am here as a testimony that I was hired 30 days ago as a Meeting Planner and I am working towards my certification. I give thanks to Deb Martinez and Adenia and Mission of Love for the great services they provide and great free educational courses. Through this charity, I am able to start a new season of my life as a Meeting Planner.

Deborah Martinez and Mission of Love Charities is devoted to the whole person. She has helped us get our nonprofit educational foundational up and running from it's very beginning. I have been involved as General Counsel since my friend and great supporter of the County, the late Wayne K. Curry was County Executive from 1994-2002 introduced me to the Mission. The Mission is just that- on a mission to help the needy. Our Chief Executive Officer and her staff are driven to serve. We are very successful in raising funds to achieve our efforts and Prince George's County even refers us to citizens for assistance. Mission of Love Charities (MOLC) and ADB Ventures have been partners now for more than 2 years. I can say the work the staff performs on behalf of the community is truly a gift of caring and sharing. The services performed range from helping out with basic needs, to providing a psychological anchor institution in the community.

In addition to basic needs, MOLC provides case management for rental and utility assistance, and offers several workforce development programs, e.g., OHSHA training, and entry level workplace computer skills development.

Bottom line, the staff at MOLC care about the individuals who show up on their doorstep, no matter what their circumstances are at that moment.

I had heard about the work that the Mission of Charities was doing in the community and was impressed with the impact that the organization continues to have on its immediate community and those in the surrounding communities. The Mission has continued to provide a clothing, food and rental support those who need it most and now expanded to providing COVID testing and vaccinations. The Mission of Love Charities, Inc. (MOLC) is a nonprofit human services organization that truly helps people in need. I have witnessed families from the area calling on the organization for food and clothes. One winter day, a family entered the nonprofit with young children. It was a bitter cold day in Prince George’s County and the young parents were in search of coats to keep their children warm. The youngest child showed up to the facility in pajamas and flipflops. It was heartbreaking. Thankfully, a donation of clothes from a local store had just arrived at MOLC.

The staff at MOLC is kind-hearted and can be relied upon to help people down-on-their-luck. The CEO, Deborah Martinez, immediately found coats, shoes, coloring books, and educational materials for the children that cold winter day. The family was offered a hot meal, ate, and left the place with full stomachs and weather appropriate attire.

In addition to helping families with food and clothing, the staff assists with paperwork for rent and utility support. Those in leadership consistently apply for grants to sustain the organization, so that they can continue to help the community they serve. The Mission of Love Charities is one that you can feel comfortable giving to because you know your money is going to help people in the community.

This amazing group of people have done such incredible work within our community. From feeding thousands to providing educational and career advancement opportunities, MOLCI surpasses all expectations.

The Mission of Love Charities has worked very hard for the unserved and underserved community of Prince George's County and Washington DC Metro area. I have worked with this organization over the past year and have been amazed with its ability to continue the work it does through a pandemic and hard time in the country. The Mission is dedicated to the people they serve and it shows and proves it daily. MOLC has a large food bank that is open most days of the week and provides assistance to the homeless community of Prince George's County. The leadership and staff is dynamic and continues to work as a driving force in the success of the many programs dedicated to making life easier for those in need. I describe this team and organization as dedicated, empathetic, dependable and compassionate.

The CEO, Deb Martinez, and her staff not only befriend the people that come to MOLC, they reach out to other organizations to help fill the gaps when needed. When Deb realizes a person in need is a veteran, she reaches out to the Veteran's organizations within the area to find if there are programs to assist that person. As a veteran myself, it makes me happy to know that if I ever needed assistance, MOLC is there.

As a nonprofit organization myself it give me great pleasure knowing I have an organization like them working to educate, encourage and have compassion for hurting people in our community. By Mission of Love being in position it makes my difficult job easier. Because the demand of food, financial help with rent and other services provided by Mission of Love Charities has increased dramatically, we are all redoubling our efforts to attract and secure funding and donations form the many people, foundations corporations and government agencies who support our work.

I first learned about Mission of Love Charities twelve years ago. I found them to be very well connected to the community's needs and looking ahead to be able to provide the support needed as new challenges came up.

The Mission of Love Charities provides exemplary services to low-income families as well as the homeless (both significantly increased) throughout the DMV community, even with an ever-demanding COVID-19 pandemic. Spearheaded by its CEO, Deb Martinez (Essence Essential Hero 2020) and Deputy Director, Tamara Myers on the front line, the MOLC team represents a dedicated group of passionate and hard working professionals who are totally committed to the health and well-being of each every visitor, treating them with the utmost respect, compassion and humility. Masters in customer service, they truly serve with "The Servant's Heart." The MOLC is recognized throughout the community as the primary destination for those in need of food, clothing or shelter assistance, and also strategically balances current needs with future planning initiatives such as workforce development and healthcare. I my years of volunteering with the Mission I have seen thousands of people in need given help, dignity and the tools to pull themselves up. The staff are selfless and have the expertise to offer tremendous support to our clients.

When the County and Government sent their employees home at the beginning of the pandemic. The Mission of Love knew they were essential to the community and figured out ways to keep the doors open to ensure the homeless and people in the community where helped. The Executive Director has also done a fabulous job of pivoting to the needs of the community.

MISSION OF LOVE REVIEW

The Mission of Love is a nonprofit social service organization located in Prince George’s County, Maryland. The following is a review of the organization’s function and quality of services provided. As the Program Manager for the SNAP Outreach program, for the State of Maryland, this review is based on site visit observations, speaking with staff, interviewing management and review of program and fiscal documents. It is without question, under the leadership of its CEO, this organization has excelled in several ways.
As a comprehensive human service agency, MOLC, primarily focus on the needs of the homeless or those at risk of becoming homeless. MOLC provides a number of programs including Basic Needs and Homeless Services, Utility, Rental and Security Deposit Assistance, Energy Assistance and a host of support from donated furniture, clothing and household appliances. Homeless Basic Needs services include providing showers for hygiene, laundry services, cell phone charging stations, and computers to access their services. MOLC also operates an Urban Garden Initiative that takes an active role in combating the lack of nutritious foods in the area. In addition, the Urban Garden teaches families and youths how to grow fruits and vegetables, at its warehouse location.
The Staff at Mission of Love, Inc. are extremely dedicated and compassionate in the services provided for their customers. The customers are treated with dignity and respect. They are also provided an opportunity to not only receive services but to volunteer and assist with organizing clothing and furnishings in the agency warehouse. This makes the customers feel like the agency values them as people and the staff clearly care for their needs. Customers’, even during the pandemic, were made to feel valued and welcomed.
The management of the agency has brought a high level of professionalism to the organization. Reports are well organized and goals are routinely accomplished. Fiscally, the agency is careful to use approved funding for appropriate costs and ensures adequate documentation for all expenditures. As the State Program Manager, this organization is highly rated as a result of site visits and fiscal monitoring. It is a pleasure working with this team.
In closing this organization truly exemplifies its’ name: Mission of Love Charities. It is clear they provide agape to a community of the most vulnerable people with little resources. Mission of Love Charities is a small organization. However, this manager expects to see great accomplishments in the future, if given the opportunity to financially grow.
