Mission: To connect those who are caring and
Programs: Mishawaka food pantry gave out food to 6,258 families, with 20,525 men, women, and children, providing them enough food for approximately 123,550 meals. Hot lunches were served at the pantry to 19,969 people. The value of clothing given out was $222,806, including some of whom also received housewares, furniture, and appliances. Additional services, including showers and laundry assistance, phone and warming centers were provided as well. Bus passes and gas cards provided 542 days of transportation. Volunteers gave 6,084 hours of service valued at $107,130 (which is not reflected in revenues or expenses on pages 9 and 10). Many of our volunteers had received government assistance and were working to "pay back" what they received, boosting their self-esteem while providing a service to people in need. The federal government helped by providing 56,617 pounds of food valued at over $93,417, which is not reported on pages 9 and 10 since it was consigned product. Through a federal grant we were able to assist 71 households with over $9,000 in utility assistance. Through a wells fargo grant and a partnership with the salvation army, we fed mishawaka children with a weekend backpack program.
