I joined the board and served 2 terms with this organization. Through that time, I saw how the team really made it their life mission to serve this under privileged population. This is not a job for them, the team is here to make a difference. MIRCI continues to progress in the area of homelessness and mental health by training other teams around the state and creating new programming. Because of their mission and progressiveness, I wanted to serve on the board for another term because truly they make a difference.
Having been involved with MIRCI as a board member for over 5 years, I can attest to the fact that Mirci is the most hands on charitable organization that I am aware of.
With a mission to assist individuals experiencing or at risk of mental illness and homelessness, MIRCI's staff engages some of the most needy & vulnerable individuals in our society. Providing mental health care in an outpatient setting, along with housing assistance, MIRCI is able to provide resources to many who would have little or none if it were not for MIRCI's efforts.
MIRCI and its staff are at the forefront of mental health recovery in the Midlands. The work this organization is doing to not only end homelessness but lessen the stigma surrounding mental health is truly unmatched. I am proud to serve on the board!
I first learned of MIRCI in the late 1990"s while I was a Parish Nurse working in the community with persons who were homeless and often had mental illness. I was also a part of a consortium of non-profit groups with the goal of reducing homelessness at that same time.. MIRCI was a very active member of that group. I saw MIRCI as a strong non-profit that provided needed resources for clients with mental illness and homelessness. MIRCI was an organization with clear goals, community outreach, and plans for continual growth to meet the needs of the population they served. Later (2002-2017) as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Behavioral Care, I was involved with referring clients from an inpatient setting to MIRCI. It was during this time that I also had the privilege of being on the MIRCI board for about 6 years. Clients referred were provided psychiatric care, medication management, and treatment groups. In addition, assistance was provided regarding benefits, supportive housing supportive and finance management.
When clients come to MIRCI they begin a journey. MIRCI is there for them as they proceed on this journey. I remember a client with chronic mental illness who had been homeless for many years was finally able to be treated and move into an apartment. He expressed concern that he would starve now that he did not have easy access to some of the soup kitchens in the city. The MIRCI staff listened to his concerns and respected him. They took him daily to eat at the soup kitchens until he was able to understand that he had food, a refrigerator and a stove. This example exemplifies what MIRCI is all about. They assess, they treat, they support, they assist, and they care.
I am very passionate about MIRCI. I donate and encourage others to do so as well.
I truly cannot say enough about the remarkable things I have seen done for this community by and through MIRCI. Serving on the board for six years, I was privileged to see the incredible work that this organization does and see the hope that it has brought to so many seemingly hopeless situations. To listen to the people helped by MIRCI speak of the life-changing gifts of housing, treatment and much needed compassion and care they received is overwhelming. It makes every moment spent and every dollar donated seem like the very least I could do to help these incredible folks that serve the most vulnerable and provide the services that can change a life from tragedy to triumph. Lives are changed, families are reunited and the most of all, people are provided with hope, sometimes for the first time. That is an incredible thing to witness and is priceless. I will continue to support MIRCI and its efforts to improve the lives of those who are struggling with the impact of mental illness and their families and encourage all who can to join me.
MIRCI creates positive change in our community by engaging clients that are suffering from mental illness and are homeless or at risk for homelessness. MIRCI leads clients toward recovery through compassionate care and support.
MIRCI has achieved solid outcomes, especially when it comes to helping clients achieve higher functioning and stability. Most remarkably, MIRCI has demonstrated the ability to impact over-utilization of community resources by detouring clients from EDs, shelters, and jails. Impressive track record!
I especially appreciate MIRCI's efforts around advocacy, education, and training. All of their activities require hard work, passion, and dedication. I have seen the impact MIRCI has on clients. We are lucky to have MIRCI in our community! I have a sincere appreciation for their leadership. MIRCI is a true connect to purpose story!
MIRCI and it's great staff are on the front lines serving and providing key mental health services to those in need in our community. They are doing God's work.
MIRCI does such an incredible job at filling the gaps in our community. I’m proud to be a donor and volunteer for such an impactful organization.
MIRCI does amazing things for the community. Happy to be part of the efforts through donating and volunteering!
MIRCI is a pillar in the community and for over 60 years has sought to help the most vulnerable in our community. They have and are consistently at the forefront of responding to the needs of the community while using industry best practices. MIRCI is looked upon as a leader in the community as it relates to mental illness and homelessness amongst youth and adults. Their treatment plans have provided stable housing to many, reconnected families, helped people, and helped them get back to work!
My greatest moment with MIRCI was meeting a young individual who had been recently introduced to MIRCI's program. He was shy introverted and paced in circles. MIRCi's team worked with him and helped them get permanent housing and the right treatment plan. After a short period of time, this individual was accepted into college and was happy to share his accomplishment with anyone who'd listen.
