Results: Since 2002, Miracles for Kids has been a support system for families of children fighting over 100 different types of life-threatening illnesses throughout Southern California. Since 2006, the Grant Program has assisted nearly 700 families and granted over $1.4 million in financial assistance that went toward helping families afford housing (77%), utilities (10%), food (6%), gas/transportation (4%), car payment (3%), medical bills (2%) and phone bills (1%). In addition, each year, the Basket of Miracles Program makes over 700 deliveries of fresh food, household essentials and seasonal items to families' homes throughout Southern California.
Target demographics: Low-income families, with children 21 years old or younger, who are in treatment for a life-threatening illness at CHOC Children's Hospital in Orange, CA or Children's Hospital Los Angeles in Los Angeles, CA.
Geographic areas served: Greater Southern California area spanning over 50 different cities throughout the surrounding Kern, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego and Ventura Coutnies and beyond.
Programs: GRANT PROGRAM: Provides monthly financial aid to low-income families with children fighting a life-threatening illness.
BASKET OF MIRACLES: Delivers food, household necessities, school and other supplies to families' homes throughout the year.
FUND-A-FAMILY: Matches a donor to an individual child and family in need.
CLOSET OF MIRACLES: Provides access to a low-cost clothing and shoe resource for families in need.
FAMILYCARE: Provides 24-hour access to quality healthcare for uninsured members of a patient's family at no cost.
MIRACLES SURF & PADDLE CAMP: Day camp that provides outdoor exercise, sport training, ocean education and awareness for our patients and their siblings.
MIRACLES RAWHIDE RIDING CAMP: Overnight camp that provides recreation, horseback riding and relationship building for out patients and their siblings.
RESEARCH PROGRAM: Funds cutting-edge research aimed at eradicating pediatric diseases.
