Causes: Astronomy, Chemistry & Chemical Engineering, Education, Educational Services, Technology
Mission: The organization is designed to stop the trend of under-representation of minority''s and women in the science and math based careers. We are also combating the decreasing trend of US students chosing the hard core science majors in college (STEM).
Programs: MAEA was initially formed to combat the under-representation of African American's & women in math and science based careers. That is still our focus along with narrowing the gap in African American achievement compared to their White and Asian counterparts. We go to schools and provide hands-on science enrichment, professional development, summer science camps, science and curriculum consulting, etc. I am sure you agree that the work we do is important not only for African American's, but for all students.
