Mind Your Brain Foundation is a wonderful organization with a mission to positively impact the lives of those affected by traumatic brain injury (TBI). Through a variety of resources and conferences offered in the Philadelphia and surrounding area, TBI survivors and their families have an opportunity to achieve a higher quality of life and connect with others who have experienced a TBI event.
Mind Your Brain is one of the most incredible nonprofits I have ever had the pleasure of being involved with! I have experience with cognitive rehabilitation therapy and have served many clients with brain injuries. Whenever I tell people about MYB, they always come back to me absolutely thrilled with the amount of resources they were able to access that they had no idea were even an option. It’s an organization run by people who KNOW and people who truly CARE about the services they are helping to provide. Could not recommend them more!
I've had the opportunity to attend several Mind Your Brain conferences in different locations. I accompanied a client of mine who is recovering from a TBI. From my own perspective each conference was always very well done and laid out in a way that was easy to navigate for those attending. They cover a variety of topics that are helpful to those recovering from TBIs and their loved ones. I've personally learned so much about TBIs and how they effect those who experience them. I've also witnessed my client benefit greatly from all the services and opportunities offered at these conferences. I highly recommend attending any event that Mind Your Brain has to offer!
My first Mind Your Brain Conference was about 4 years after the accident that left me brain damaged. I didn’t know what to expect and went on the advice of doctors. I haven’t stopped going since. I can’t believe it’s totally free! I met so many great people and get so much good advice and support there, it’s really something I look forward to every year now. I feel a part of a community and enjoy being in service to that community as well- it’s really all inclusive for us brain injured folks. It’s been a big part of my recovery
Survivor of traumatic brain injuries and augmented brain injuries. This conference is a godsend ! The connections I have made with other survivors and the information I have gotten over the past 7 years are so beneficial! I am so grateful for this foundation !
As a lisenced clinical social worker with decades of experience working with people with brain injuries, as well as coordinating a TBI service for veterans, I have great respect for Mind Your Brain. Their work is invaluable, their resources are amazing and their results are remarkable. The Mind Your Brain conferences are must-attend for me in my professional growth and knowledge. Victoria M. Robinson, MSS, LCSW, ACSW
Mind Your Brain Foundation was created by Candace Gantt whose personal traumatic brain injury, post surgery and rehabilitation left unknown and uncertain changes. Candace unselfishly and wholeheartedly worked at helping others change their lives after any type of traumatic brain injury.
This is heartwarming and caring beyond means to give endlessly to others.
To help with such events such as Holiday wrapping, or the Soirée, is only a token of all the strides and accomplishments that can come from raising money for an incredibly worthwhile cause such as Mind You Brain Foundation.
I am so impressed with the amazing work Mind Your Brain Foundation (MYBF) has done for the Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) community. Their free TBI conferences provides valuable resources and information for TBI survivors, their family and caregivers. MYBF is a mission driven dedicated to improving the lives of all those effected by a TBI in collaboration with TBI focused, academic, medical centers and regional hospitals, we provide the basis for community based patient-centric free conferences and ongoing online support that provides education, advocacy, support, and research to enhance the quality of life for those effected by brain injury, including patients, survivors, families, and caregivers.
Mind Your Brain Foundation is an amazing resource that has changed the lives of so many. Their conferences offer TBI survivors and their caregivers so much hope and promise for their continued recovery. The MYB leadership team is passionate about their work and making a difference in the TBI community. I am honored to be working with them and inspired by the stories of the lives they have touched.
I have been lucky enough to work with the team at Mind Your Brain Foundation for many years as a service provider and advisor. The board and executive team are amazing. As a whole, all are dedicated to furthering the mission of MYBF and strive to support the brain injury community through their conferences, research, support, and outreach. They manage the foundation effectively and with fiduciary responsibility and I can say are an example of how to run a nonprofit organization.
My business, Valotta Studios, had the pleasure of working with the Mind Your Brain Foundation this past December for a holiday wrapping event. Everyone was so kind. I was particularly impressed with their spokesperson, Natanya, who educated our students on her experience as a person living with brain injury. We look forward to working with this wonderful organization again this year!
Mind Your Brain Foundation does amazing work to provide education and support after brain injury. Their conferences are places to learn and connect with others who have also been through it--as well as resources. Candace Gantt is an inspiration, and her leadership has been critical to their growth and success.
Mind Your Brain Foundation fills the gap between discharge from formal medical care and optimal recovery. Navigating the services is overwhelming for a healthy typical individual. But add a brain injury and the deficits that come with it the challenge can be paralyzing. Mind Your Brain gives survivors of traumatic brain injury and their caregivers a voice, a roadmap, an ear to listen a shoulder to lean on.
It has meant the world to me to serve as a Board Member to the Mind Your Brain Foundation. MYBF's conferences give brain injury survivors throughout the region an opportunity for empowerment, knowledge, and community. As a brain injury survivor myself, I have found MYBF conferences to be insightful, impactful, and inspiring. MYBF also serves as an excellent resource to the traumatic brain injury community with their Road Map to Recovery brochure and podcasts. I look forward to the continued success of MYBF, as both a Board Member and a survivor.
I thought I had hit a wall with my recovery but the MYB Conference opened a door into a world of research, possibility and help.
My recovery depends on this conference. It connects me to resources, scholarships and new research.
When rehab said I was done the MYB Foundation said , “NO YOU’RE NOT! “
Without this organization I might still need an aide to push me around in a wheelchair.
Mind Your Brain Foundation advocates for and educates those affected by brain injury. A critical partner with acute and post-acute care rehabilitation programs, MYBF helps with recovery by bringing resources and hope to so many people living with brain injury and their families and professionals who work with them in and around the Philadelphia region. The professionals and patients who support MYBF are passionate about helping others and have made such a positive impact in the lives of so many!
Mind Your Brain is one of the best nonprofits. They are constantly working hard to find the best resources for TBI survivors. Not only do they help find these resources, but they help create a community for the doctors, survivors, and caretakers of TBIs.
I've helped organize the Mind Your Brain event at University of Pennsylvania for the last several years. Each year I receive great feedback from attendees, workshop presenters, and the representatives for resource tables. While in the midst of a Mind Your Brain conference, I'm overwhelmed by the positivity and energy of the attending TBI survivors and caregivers. I've had family members who've had concussions and/or more serious brain injury and I'm aware on a personal level how difficult it can be to find help once you've left rehab. There are broad needs for this community, but Mind Your Brain offers some ideas and resources that may help, while providing a day of community support.
I started attending the MYB conference just 4 years after the accident that left me brain damaged. This was no doubt the last piece I needed to progress in my recovery! Meeting people with TBI like me was invaluable. And the workshops and presentations were so empowering to me - every year I learn something new. I am now a volunteer with the organization, and it has given this “differently abled” person a whole new purpose! Seeing the community of survivors and caretakers every year is my highlight!
As a caregiver to a TBI survivor and an old TBI survivor, I have learned a great deal by attending the Mind Your Brain conferences over the years. At every conference there are a several organizations with resources to help TBI survivors reclaim their lives and improve on where they are now in their recovery. The US healthcare system only pays for resources that may get you back to about 80% of your pre-TBI self but that last 20% is up to you. That last 20% may have a significant impact on one's quality of life. My daughter was able to continue her recovery by attending the conferences, finished her BS in Education on time, lived outside of the US, completed her Masters in Education and moved across country. We are grateful that we had the MYB conferences in our backyard. This is a fabulous organization.
The foundation is very dedicated to helping individuals with TBI and their families, providing links to resources that can help improve the outcome through its conferences and survivor to survivor interactions. In particular, the founder and present leader has the lived experience to know how TBI affects both the survivor and family
Mind Your Brain has been exceptional in helping me with my recovery from a TBI I sustained in December ‘13 (hospitalized till May of ‘14). MYB didn’t exist in 2014, though there was a huge need for it. Thankfully a fellow TBI Survivor (who was in the same hospital years prior), Candace Gant, saw the need for a conference. TBI/Stroke Survivors, Caregivers, Medical personnel, Doctors on the cutting edge is TBI research and treatment…all come together for a wonderful day of a keynote speaker, breakout sessions on a wide-range of topics related to TBI, and socializing with each other. I’d highly recommend attending to either the original MYB location at University of Pennsylvania Hospital, or any of the other locations that are now branching out around the country.
The Mind Your Brain Foundation improves the lives of thousands of brain injury survivors by organzing free conferences in the Philadelphia area, investing in research and providing a rehabilitation libray of 75 podcasts with expert guests in Neurocogniton, Neurposychology, Neuroscience and Neuro Resource Facilitation. We are proud of our work in raising awareness in our community and educating professionals. MYBF is mission driven and innovative thinkers.
