Mission: Millenia Music was founded in 1994 by former members of The Central Kentucky Youth Symphony Orchestra, which in 1979 became the first orchestra from the West ever to perform in the Soviet Union. Committed to bringing music to those most in need, Millenia Music has provided musical outreach to hospitals, hospices, centers for the elderly and disadvantaged across the United States. Millenia Music's healing-music outreach includes work with The Markey Cancer Center and an ongoing partnership with The Chandler Medical Center, including the pioneering fetal-sound study directed by Carol Komara, R.S.N. Millenia Music provided the sacred music for The Gethsemani Encounter in 1996 attended by His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the Abbot General of the Trappist Order, and world leaders from the Eastern and Western Religious traditions. Millenia Music coordinated the music for the Interreligious Vigil for World Peace led by The Dalai Lama in 1999, following the production of Compassion, the world-premiere CD featuring a Special Message from His Holiness the XIVth Dalai Lama, the first recording ever to combine Eastern & Western chant, and which was recorded in Mammoth Cave, at the Abbey of Gethsemani, the Furnace Mountain Zen Temple, the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, and Saint Paul's Chapel in New York City. Millenia Music's recording credits include producing Steven Mercurio's For Lost Loved Ones, a symphonic poem for large orchestra performed by The New York Philharmonic; David Schane's solo piano concert, Live At Orchestra Hall in Chicago; Stations, the premiere-release from Millenia Music; and CD's featuring ancient Hebrew songs for voice, piano, and cello. Millenia Music's Founder & Executive Director is Michael Fitzpatrick, world-renowned cellist who has provided music for His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the United Nations Millennium Peace Summit of Religious & Spiritual Leaders, His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan, the Crown Prince of Asturias, and who is the recipient of The Prince Charles Award bestowed by H.R.H. the Prince of Wales.
