Mission: Mill Town Players is a community theater whose purpose is to entertain, inspire, and enrich our community by providing quality and affordable live theater.
Results: • Since opening in the fall of 2014, Mill Town Players's total attendance to plays, musicals, school matinees, concerts, and special events is 53,631 (as of Jan 2017). Season 1 had a total attendance of 13,166, Season 2 was 23,809, and half way through Season 3 we have reached 16,656. • School matinee performances of Robin Hood played to over 2,000 students for only $3 tickets from 11 elementary schools, 4 middle schools, and 3 high schools from both Greenville and Anderson Counties. School matinee performances of Of Mice and Men played to almost 900 students from 7 high schools from Anderson, Greenville, and Pickens Counties. • MTP received the Founders Award from the South Carolina Theatre Association at its annual gala in Columbia in May 2016. The Founders Award is the most prestigious award SCTA bestows to recognize the individual or organization that has made the most significant contribution to theater in SC during the previous year. • Executive Artistic Director Will Ragland was elected as Chair of the Community Theatre Division of the SC Theatre Association and in 2016 was honored as a Hometown Hero by the Modern Woodmen of America, voted as the Best of the Upstate Best Local Actor by readers of the Greenville News, was the winner in the Arts category of the Greenville News 30 Emerging Leaders, and was named as one of Anderson Independent Mail’s 20 under 40 emerging leaders. • Each season, MTP produces 6 main stage productions, including youth outreach matinees with reduced ticket prices, and a gospel concert. Plans are also in place to start a youth theater program as early as summer of 2017. • 2016 SC Theatre Association Community Theatre Festival 1st Place Of Mice and Men, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Ensemble, Best Set Design, Best Lighting Design, Best Costume Design, Best Lighting Design • 2015 SC Theatre Association Community Theatre Festival 2nd Place Robin Hood, Best Director, Best Ensemble, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Sound, Best Lighting and Best Costumes • 2015 SETC Community Theatre Festival in Chattanooga, TN – Dark of the Moon – Outstanding Set Design, Outstanding Lighting Design • 2014 SC Theatre Association Community Theatre Festival 1st Place Dark of the Moon, Best Direction, Best Musical Ensemble, Best Supporting Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Actor Cameo, Best Set Design, Best Lighting Design, and Best Sound Design • MTP, only in its 3rd year of existence, is one of the most affordable and most attended community theaters in Upstate South Carolina.
