Mission: Mill Neck Foundation was founded in 1948 by Lutheran Friends of the Deaf to enhance the quality of life for people who are deaf, or have other communication needs, through excellence in individually designed educational, vocational or spiritual programs and services.
Programs: Grants - since 1978 the mill neck foundation has granted over $8,000,000 to organizations worldwide that provide inclusion opportunities for deaf people in educational, vocational and religious settings. The foundation has funded programs to train lutheran pastors and lay people to include deaf people in their congregations. The foundation and its valued donors have also provided mill neck manor school for the deaf with over $250,000 in the past four years to fund a literacy initiative, in collaboration with leslie university in boston, to improve the literacy skills of deaf students. The foundation also provides annual support to the mill neck manor early childhood center and mill neck services for deaf adults, inc.
audiology services - for 50 years, the mill neck foundation has developed a reputation for excellence in audiological services, especially for children. In recent years, we were able to create a new, state-of-the-art audiology clinic, enabling us to serve the local community, as well as our school children. As a licensed hearing aid dealer in nys, we are able to dispense a variety of hearing aids to the general public, at less than retail pricing. Each year we test several hundred children and adults in our modern testing facility.
