Mission: Mile-hi golden retriever club (mhgrc) is a member club of the golden retriever club of america (grca) and is licensed by the american kennel club (akc). The club's purpose is to recognize that the golden retriever is a gun dog and to encourage and promote the breeding of purebred golden retrievers that possess the appearance, soundness, temperament, natural abilities and personality that is reflected in the standard of the breed and to do all possible to bring these qualities to perfection; to urge members and breeders to accept the standard of the breed as approved by the akc as the only standard of excellence by which golden retrievers shall be judged; to do all in its power to protect and advance the interests of the breed by encouraging sportsmanlike competition at dog shows, obedience trials, hunting tests, and agility trials; to conduct sanctioned and licensed speciality shows, obedience trials, hunting testing and field trials.
Programs: The primary activities of the organization during 2017 involved conducting akc sanctioned events, including two agility trials, a golden retriever specialty event, a hunt test and a working certificate test. These events provide an opportunity for dog owners and their dogs to demostrate thier skills in the areas of agility, conformation, obedience, rally and hunting. The club also sponsored a fun hunt test and two other fun matches that included conformation and rally and obedience classes. During 2018, the club will continue to offer a similar schedule of events, with some expanded class offerings at the agility trials.
the club hosts an annual awards banquet to recognized the accomplishments of club members during the previous year. At the bi-monthly club business meetings, guest speakers are frequently invited to give presentations on topics of interest to the membership.
