We learned about Midwest Dachshund Rescue through local dachshund themed fundraisers. As a life-long dachshund owner I can attest to MDRs dedication to the breed and their knowledge of the specific needs of dachshunds is outstanding. They have a wonderful team of people who work tirelessly to help sickly dogs get any treatment that is needed. From my understanding and what I have read in their documents (eg. 990s and public records) donations are used to provide professional care and treatment from veterinarians who know the breed well. MDR also supports their foster families who care for the dogs prior to adoption. Fosters are are vetted before an animal goes into their home. I have worked in nonprofit administration for more than 25 years and MDR provides excellent services and shows flawless stewardship of the funds they receive. Two months ago, I worked closely with one of the officers when we became a foster family to two senior dogs. We wanted to adopt them outright, but MDR protects the health of the animals by taking full responsibility for medical and dental evaluation and treatment, before an adoption is allowed. Once their health stabilized we were able to adopt them and make our family whole once again. MDR is serving animals and people in ways that are priceless.

They want dachshunds who aren't even sick I believe to make a profit. They took one I was suppose to get from a private party and I'm sure made a healthy profit.they charge very high prices for dogs 12,13 yrs.old. crazy.but for profit. A healthy one goes to friends of theirs.
