We have several rescues from Mid Florida Sheltie Rescue. Barb and her foster team are wonderful and very knowledgeable. I would highly recommend them if you are looking for a Sheltie.

It is absolutely incredible what Barb and the entire team at Mid Florida Sheltie Rescue do. We have adopted 2 Shelties from them so far. It is not cheap to do what they do and they could use any donation you could spare. I know times are bad but these little angels need more help now than ever. Please, we don't want to see this organization fail. Help if you can.
After I lost my Sheltie/Pom's, Goliath and Samson, within 9 months of each other in 2013, I knew my next dog would be a Sheltie. We have a 3 year old Pom who needed a playmate and I needed a Sheltie to help me heal. I filled out the application online the day that Samson passed away (he was watching over me and knew I needed to do this quickly). I had one Sheltie that I really feel in love with, but after speaking with Barb he wasn't the one for me. Barb had several other Sheltie's for me to look at. I spoke with Val (Foster Mom) regarding one Sheltie, not for me. Finally, after conversations, we agreed to meet Laddy (now Sago). He is a fantastic boy. Three months after adopting Sago, a mass e-mail was sent out by Mid Florida Sheltie Rescue that they had a 12 year old female Sheltie who was in desperate need of a home (2 days or the owners were taking her to Animal Control). I contacted Barb, and 1 week later Sharah came home with us. We have "rescued" 3 Shelties in the SWFL area and have been very happy in helping out Mid Florida Sheltie and finding these beautiful animals their forever homes. Barb and her Foster's do an amazing job and spent lots of time getting to know us.
I have helped Mid Florida Sheltie Rescue a few times, but not even 10% as much as they have helped me. When you help this Rescue in even the smallest of capacities the reward far exceeds the mission. I also rescued the love of my life Blu from Mid Florida Shelter Rescue. I adopted Blu a Senior Sheltie. Due to a second owner passing Blu found herself back with MFSR.. Barb took many phone calls from me for the first month to help Blu and me with the transition. She always had time and we worked through all the issues this special needs dog had, I thank God for MFSR and Barb as Blu was the the best dog I ever had. My vet handed me a death sentence when Blu got doggie breast cancer. I had her tumors removed and doc said 6 months at best. Again with Barbs help I was able to give Blu an EXCELLENT end of life that ultimately lasted 2 full years after her surgery. When I find a Sheltie at risk she moves heaven and earth to save them. I moved to florida a year ago. Left my sheltie with my son.( He wouldn't let me take him with me). I reached out to Mid Florida Sheltie Rescue and they brought me Penny. She is nine years old and a pistol. Any time I have a question they are more than happy to help me. They have great volunteers and are meticulous in their placement of rescues. One of the volunteers even took care of Penny when I had to go out of state! Now thats support.
I have been working with the Mid Florida Sheltie Rescue since I adopted my shelties DeDe and Goldie, going on 10 years now. They are a great group of people dedicated to saving these beautiful souls. I have met many great people who love this breed and we will continue to save all that we can.
