Mission: The Michigan McGehee Interfaith Loan Fund channels financial resources of socially concerned people and organizations for community economic development in urban and rural areas in Michigan, creating a bridge between those who have financial resources and those who need more equitable access to capital resources in traditionally under-served communities. The Interfaith Fund, formerly known as The McGehee Fund since 1991, is a non-profit community development loan fund, presently capitalized at $3.1 million. The Fund pools money made available to it through gifts and investments by individuals, religious communities, corporations and foundations. This money is then made available in the form of low interest loans in lower income communities for community-based economic development projects such as: small business development, affordable housing and non-profit facilities serving the neighborhoods in which they are located.
