Programs: Education - the metropolitan wilmington urban league (mwul) education department is fueled by the mwul education advisory council (eac). The council is made up of public education advocates, educators, and policy scientists interested in public education reform, and business executives. The council has outlined five specific areas of interests -public education and advocacy in system-wide school reform -assisting with ameliorating the academic achievement gap between students of color and their mainstream counterparts; -engaging parents in public education reform; -calling for culturally appropriate student curricula; and -raising the expectation level of academic achievement for all public school students.
health initiatives-mwul has been in the forefront advocating for elmination of health disparities and movement towards health equity. In january 2010, mwul adopted its health equity vision statement: the vision of the mwul for health equity is a delaware where all people benefit from comprehensive and preventative quality health care regardless of life stage or circumstance.
