A few years ago, my husband and I were in jeopardy of losing our home due to sudden job loss. It was a very scary time for us, this has been my family home for 50-plus years. Conant Smith was able to help us get a long term loan to clear up what we owed, and also steered us in the direction of a wonderful attorney who helped us tremendously. Because our income was suddenly so low, we qualified for this free service. I can't say ENOUGH good things about Metro Interfaith. I quite often have an opportunity in my line of work that allows me to recommend their services, and I never hesitate! I will forever be in their debt.
Staff seems to be doing racial profiling of visitors. My son was approached by a man - quite unprofessional and never identified himself as an employee - while he waited for his grandmother to come to the security door to let him in. Having no idea who this man was and feeling threatened by the approach my son went into the security door and to my mother who was standing in the hallway. He did swear at the man but never touched him. As a result the building manager is advising my son, who is one of the primamry caretakers of my 97 year old mom, can not come into the building and that if he picks her up from the building he is not allowed to drive onto their property - instead my 97 year old mother is expected to walk across a parking lot to the road. I have called a lawyer and plan to call civil rights, the naacp and to determine what grants this not-for profit is getting - as well as other contributers - to make them aware of this event and two other's I personall have experienced in this building in December.
