I trust their leadership wholeheartedly to do their best to honor the community they serve and the employees they manage. Such a grand vision here!
Mercy Project has rescued over one hundred children out of slavery by partnering with villages around Lake Volta. Their comprehensive approach to caring for children is in itself inspiring but their methods of community enrichment and education will ensure their labors last. My husband and I will continue to passionately support all of Mercy Project’s efforts.
My son and daughter-in -law were college friends with Chris. One year instead of gifts for my grandsons birthday they suggested a gift donation to Mercy Project. They told about Chris and his work saving kids from slavery and educating them. Then returning them to their parents. They also was compensating the fishermen how to make a living in the fishing business without using child slavery. I have been supporting Mercy Project ever since. It also taught my grandson that it was good to give to others that are not as blessed as they are.
We were early supporters of Mercy Project and annually contribute to their work. We have had their founder speak at our church on numerous occasions. In addition, we annually participate in their fundraising activities. Their sustainable aquaculture efforts to prevent human trafficking are well thought out, sustainable, and take all the children's emotional and physical needs into account. Great non-profit doing excellent work.
I have been a supporter of Mercy Project. They are a well organized and effective organized that makes a difference in the lives of families in Ghana. Their innovative and relationship based fund raising helps donors feel a part of the organization.
The work of Mercy Project is creating positive benefits for generations! They are transforming communities by empowering them rather than creating a crutch. That’s the kind of change that will last!
In 2015 I visited Mercy Project's in-country staff and witnessed first hand all steps of their process to bring children out of slavery in the Lake Volta region. I support Mercy Project because of the completeness they bring to the complex problems they set out to solve. From the initial meetings with a village to the follow up with each child after reintegration - everything this NGO does is done well.
The thing I love about Mercy Project is the actions it is taking to change the lives of children, by delivering a viable solution with results. We still have slavery in the world and Mercy Project is changing the lives of child slaves, by helping to fix the poverty, culture that enables slavery, while healing and advancing the victims. I have grown weary of the non-stop blame game in America that offers 99 percent criticism and 1 percent half-baked solutions. Mercy Project, like it's name delivers comprehensive lasting solutions without all the hype, accusation, and judgment. It changes the life of the child, the family and redeems the slave holder.
Mercy Project is an amazing organization that is truly making a difference in the lives of so many Ghanaian children and families. They are have a sustainable plan to get children out of slavery and reintegrate them with their families and provide the children with a life changing education. The organization also has no Americans working in Ghana and has trained a fully Ghanaian staff to do this remarkable work.
This nonprofit has global and local impact helping kids escape slavery and be reunited with their families. The solutions employed through the funds raised are sustainable and support the local community.
Mercy Project lovingly and respectfully leads fishing villagers to use more profitable practices that allow them to release child laborers, who are returned to their homes and enrolled in school. Then the children’s families can receive loans and guidance to better support themselves. Social workers continue to check that everyone is doing well. Every part of the organization in Ghana is now run by Ghanaians. In the ten years I have given financial support, it has been amazing to see this organization bloom into a helping mentor that instills pride and joy into people who were formerly struggling. And this grandmother is a penpal to two beautiful children in Ghana, who write about their accomplishments in school, how they contribute to their families, and the delight of playing with friends. Mercy Project is my favorite charitable partnership!
I have been on the Mercy Project board for several years and have travelled to Ghana with the MP team twice. My daughter accompanied us on the last trip. I love this organization because they invest in the curing root causes of child trafficking and poverty rather than just treating the symptoms. MP literally teaches people to fish and then invests in family reunification, education and job creation to enable intergenerational success.
Mercy Project is an exceptional nonprofit that strives to address the cause of trafficked children and empower villages to find more efficient & profitable ways to fish - without the need for children. They stick with each village and traffic child from beginning until end. Children are supported by a case worker as they attend school and reunite with their families.
Mercy Project treats every person with dignity, worth & value as they seek to empower villages and families with a better way to live.

We learned of Mercy Project when we were in the process of adopting from Ghana and were also changing our family habits dramatically to acknowledge and combat ongoing slavery in the world. Their comprehensive work that systemically roots out trafficking while providing dignity to the communities and full rehabilitation to children is one of the best models not only considering a full picture problem, but applying action to every level.
It has been an honor serving the mission of Mercy Project for the last 10 years. It stands out from a lot of anti-trafficking non-profits because the staff are local Ghanaians, entrenched in the lives of the fishing communities that we are partner with. Because of that, we are able to keep a close relationship with the social workers, school teachers and leaders in the community to make sure that the kids are not re-trafficked. The proven process and success of freeing hundreds of Ghanaian children from slavery shows that Mercy Project is an incredible organization.
