I went to the ER on Thursday because my ear is swollen from an outer ear infection. They called in prescriptions for me to the local Walgreens, where I found out that the prescriptions were to cost me in excess of $250. I called the hospital to have them call my prescriptions in to the local VA pharmacy instead, but I found out Friday afternoon that the VA cannot fill the prescriptions until Tuesday of next week. I called Mercy hospital again to see if they could call the prescriptions back to the Walgreens and the woman who answered the phone very curtly told me, "That doctor is not here today!" So I tried to ask if I would need to come into the ER again, and she interrupted me with "That doctor is not here today!". I paused and tried to ask again, and was again interrupted at which time I said, "HOLD ON, I'm trying to ask you a question!" and she responded curtly with, "You would have to come back in and see another doctor." Okay, that was what I was trying to ask. However, I will never go to Mercy Hospital again, and if their name shows up on any ballots for funding I will vote NO every time. I'm on my way to Baptist Hospital, where they treat patients with some dignity.
