I'm passionate about healthcare, and was excited to find greatnonprofits. I really appreciate what MHC is doing for uninsured residents: they have such a comprehensive number of services, ranging from patient medicine management to patient education. The range of volunteer options is also great! They have open positions for both doctors/individuals with scientific backgrounds, and volunteers who can help with communications/marketing/data entry. It's fantastic! Please keep doing what you are doing, MHC!

Mission: Mercy health clinic is a non-sectarian, not-for-profit, community health care provider. The clinic serves uninsured, low-income adult residents of montgomery county, maryland. The clinic is commited to providing high quality medical care, health education and medications to eligible patients.
Programs: Primary medical care - all of our patients are seen by a board certified physician, nurse practitioner or physician assistant. Treatment at the clinic includes primary care, nearly 20 specialties, blood tests, flu shots, etc. Patients who need specialty care outside the clinic are aided by a patient navigator who has access to a network of partner agencies (catholic charities), enabling almost all patients to obtain colposcopies. The medical program served around 1500 patients in 2015.
pharmacy - our onsite pharmacy provides patients with both prescription and over the counter medications free of charge. Patient compliance with taking medications is enhanced by having a pharmacy onsite. The clinic distributed hundreds of thousands of dollars in medications to patients in 2015. Patients on five or more medications also receive individual medication therapy management counseling at the clinic.
health education - mercy health clinic offers diabetes education and lifestyle and nutritional education. These health education programs are led by a physician and certified nutritionist who hold classes with patients in group settings as well as individual counseling sessions in both english and spanish. The goal of these programs is to change patients' lifestyles and teach them how to manage their disease though exercise, medication and diet.
