When I was a teenager, I attempted suicide. I am so fortunate that I did not complete it. It is my mission in life to end suicides and help those in pain to find solutions for what they are feeling. Life is precious, I would have missed so much if I had completed my attempt at 15. And, now as a parent, I would never want a parent to go through what I almost put my mom through. I wish I knew then what I later learned about mental illness.
This organization has a mission to bring awareness and end suicides. That is why I am here.

This is a great organization that offers education and support for individuals and families.
They work hard to eliminate mental health stigma.
The Mental Health Assn of Greater Chicago (MHAGC pronounced magic) is a non profit
operated mainly by volunteers . It is doe not receive any government grants and replies
on the generosity of the donating public.
The Mental Health Association of Greater Chicago does a great job of spreading mental health awareness! That's why I'm a volunteer there! They help teens with programs like 2Tough2Bully and suicide prevention. Their board is comprised of doctors and other professionals from the mental health industry. I believe their mission is sorely needed in these challenging times!
A very friendly & caring staff committed to the cause, as well as helping the volunteers making their best contributuon to the MHAGC.
What makes this organization wonderful beyond the critical work they do to help those with mental illness is the dedicated passion of Stella Kalfas. Stella continues to take her deep knowledge and reach out to her vast network to create the awareness needed to bring attention to improving the lives of those that want to overcome rather than only cope with this difficult illness.
