Mission: Build godly youth in under resourced neighborhoods by teaching them to love god, love others and love themselves by becoming christ-centered, productive adults positively impacting their families and neighborhoods.
Programs: Memphis athletic ministries, inc. Provides year-round mentoring to at-risk youth, ages 8-18, in under-resourced neighborhoods through 10 youth centers that currently serve over 800 youth daily. Mam's programs- open recreation, organized team sports, academic enrichment, financial literacy/personal financial management, life skills and spiritual training- address the physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual development needs of the served youth. Mam, in partnership with families/schools/community organizations, implements a three step strategy to teach the youth to love god, others and themselves: 1) attract participation using organized sports2) create nurturing environment through small mentoring groups 3) provide comprehensive programsmam's program results have been documented- 98% of active participants and 95% of participants' parents reported positive difference in the youth as a result of participating in mam's programs. Mam also partners with churches/schools/other organizations to offer community-wide sports leagues which promote community involvement and bridge geographic/cultural/socio-economic differences to 8,000+ participants (65% urban; 35% non-urban).
