I raised funds for my son's nearly year-long hospital stay through the MedGift platform. It was easy to use and it allowed me to feel connected to my support community beyond just financial support. I'm so grateful for MedGift- my son wouldn't have had access to the best possible care for his condition and may not be thriving as he is today without it- I'll be forever grateful.
MedGift is such a unique site that fulfills common medical and life needs. I love the idea that it "takes the awkwardness out of asking for help" from the patient's perspective while also "taking the awkwardness out of asking 'how I can help'" from the perspective of a loved one. It opens up a line of communication between a user and their community to promote an easy way to receive and offer help. A huge perk of the site is the convenience of the platform. It's like a one stop for medical needs; users can fundraise, request tangible and intangible goods, organize an interactive calendar, and keep their community updated on their journey all in one place.
What I love most about MedGift is the sense of community that it fosters. This isn't just a site where people ask for donations for a campaign that expires in a few weeks; this is a way to communicate exactly what you need and how you need it with the people who care most about you. I truly believe MedGift has the capability to help so many people in need, and I want as many people to know about this life-changing resource as possible.
As someone who lost her own mother to cancer and had to help care for elderly grandparents , I am well aware of the emotional and logistical hardships patients and their families face in the wake of a serious health diagnoses. Medgift is an incredible organization that helps to alleviate the many burdens encountered during such a trying time - from organizing transportation to helping raise money for much needed medical equipment and supplies.
But beyond its tangible benefits, what is most striking about Medgift is the emotional support and bonds built with others when families and patients often feel so isolated, vulnerable and overwhelmed. Furthermore, this service is such a blessing to friends, family and colleagues who feel powerless and are left wondering “what can I do to help?”.
True to the character of its late founder Diem Brown , Medgift is a platform that emanates selflessness, love and goodwill.
This site is a unique resource for patients and their families in that everything you need is in one place. We can raise money, offer friends and family updates and highlight important dates on the calendar. Love the wish list for items we’ll need throughout treatment and recovery.
Excellent tool to help families with ill loved ones get the help they really need. For those who want to help but don't know how best to help - this nonprofit makes all the difference.
I was very blessed to be introduced to MedGift. My needs were a lot more personal than just financial, and it was hard for me to either ask friends for help, or to actually take them up on the help they offered. MedGift allowed me the ability to request help from a safe place. I didn't have to 'ask' for money like I would with a GoFundMe, yet my friends were still able to help me financially. I didn't have to feel embarrassed to 'ask' for a helping hand, I could just put my needs onto the site and into my calendar, and my friends and family volunteered. Be it dinners, a car ride, a babysitter for my kids, it was unbelievably helpful and I never once had to call anyone and ask for help. Friends and family merely volunteered knowing what my needs were. It really took a lot of pressure off my very heavy shoulders. Being in a situation where there's a lot to stress over, MedGift gave me one less thing to worry about. I am very thankful.
MedGift has made helping in the most unthinkable circumstances possible! There is no longer uncertainty in how to help out a family friend or loved one - Healthcare assistance can be accessible and convenient!
MedGift goes way beyond other crowd funding platforms. It's innovative approach and caring culture provides big value in time of need. Their platform made friends and family wanting to help and not knowing how much more focused on exactly what we needed and when we need things to comfort, aid, and lower our stress levels.
MedGift's commitment to supporting patients is really unmatched. I haven't come across another platform that provides the hands on support and guidance that MedGift does. The platform itself is hugely helpful - outside of the fundraising capabilities, the calendaring tool is the smartest thing I've seen to help people going through a health crisis.
Beyond the functionality, the team makes certain that patient support is at the focus of anything they do. They reach out to the people using their site to make sure they are getting the support they need and are maximizing use of the features available to them.
I didn't have a chance to get to know Diem, but I'm certain she'd be proud of the technology and team she helped build.
MedGift is an incredible resource for individuals and their families who face challenging health situations. MedGift goes beyond regular crowdfunding platforms like GoFundMe by allowing people to create wish-lists similar to baby or bridal shower registries. What makes MedGift especially helpful is its private and personalized calendaring functionality that allows family members and close friends to coordinate support in ways that are most helpful for their loved ones.
MedGift is an incredible organization with a deeply personal and genuine mission. What I love about MedGift is that it was born after a real gap between those who want to help and those who need it was discovered by its founder, Diem Brown, while battling Ovarian Cancer herself (3 times!).
Even while she was fighting for her life, she was thinking about others and the hardships they were facing on their own health-related journey, and she wanted to help. She found through her own battle how isolating and difficult a serious medical diagnosis could be --- and she wanted to create a place where people could turn and get the personalized care and support they need.
Not only is MedGift a 100% free platform, but its personalized and comprehensive. Diem wanted a place for patients to share their feelings, a place where they could list their needs, schedules, updates, fundraise and most importantly - a place where they could always find support. That is what the MedGift platform provides to any and all who use it!
While Diem succumbed to her battle in 2014, her legacy lives on through MedGift. An organization I deeply believe in, support and recommend!
