MOWW is a powerful-good organization whose service in our area is duplicated by none. Our home bound clients are gratified daily to welcome their Meals On Wheels volunteer (and not friend) to their home to deliver nutritious meals, the mail, a newspaper, and very welcome conversation. As they like to say, "Changing Lives, One Smile At a Time."

Their administrative organization is small, active, warm, and unpretentious, led by the dynamic CEO RoseMary Regalbuto. Honestly, Meals On Wheels West is a fine organization doing exceptional work for so many.

I started as a volunteer 14 years ago and became so devoted to the organization that I became a board member. Volunteering for MOWW was the most fulfilling thing I had ever done in my life. The impact I made from sharing a few minutes with a homebound person gave me goosebumps on a regular basis. I am now enjoying running the pet program which started with a grant from Miss Lilly's Trading Company. It pays for specialty food and some vet care such as flee medication and check ups. We also get a generous amount of food donated from Centinela Feed and the pets seem to love their Lotus brand food.

I LOVED volunteering for Meals on Wheels West. The staff are incredible: efficient and effective, so volunteers are utilized well and given appreciation from the staff as well as the clients. I've done volunteering with a number of organizations and MOW by far is the best at volunteer management. The service they provide is so necessary to the clients and it is rewarding to be involved.

It has been my pride and pleasure to serve as a volunteer both delivering meals and as a member of the Board of Directors for the past 8 or so years. This organization is vital to the seniors and shut ins everywhere. Delivering the meals is important, of course, but the face to face contact we provide could be their only one of the day. I can't imagine a world without this "human service"!

I have been supporting this program for over 30 years. They have done so much for so many people. I learned about this agency when my neighbor was receiving Meals on Wheels. She fell one day and it was only the immediate call by the volunteer that brought the help she needed. What a great program for those that are homebound and not able to cook or even shop for food.

Meals on Wheels West is a wonderful organization and the people that work there, and volunteers are amazing. I have some neighbors who have received meals from them (along with the daily newspaper) AND it has helped them stay healthy and living in their own homes.

I cannot thank Meals On Wheels West enough for being there for me in my time of need. What would I have done without you? The food is good and definitely nutritious and I started feeling much better after a week. The volunteers are a god-send, and the newspapers and fresh fruit they bring along with the meals is very much appreciated

I have been both a volunteer and a donor to Meals-on-wheels for 15 years. The people I come in contact with weekly are so appreciative of the meals they receive as well as the interaction with caring volunteers. Meals-on-wheels has a supportive staff that makes sure the client's needs are met professionally and with great concern for their well-being. This is an established organization that is run well and really works to the advantage of everybody involved.

I volunteered to deliver meals for MOW am very impressed by the determination of their staff in making sure that those in need receive a good meal. I was personally surprised that the need was so real even in an affluent area where I live. You take your 3 meals a day for granted and often forget that many elderly people do not have family to make sure that they get theirs! I met many very appreciative people to whom that knock on the door was extremely important, not only the meal but the friendly face at the door.

For over 17 years, I have been a caregiver for my mother & aunt. From time to time, my mother's critical health concerns required lengthy hospital stays & discharge to convalescent facilities/nursing homes. During her stays at these facilities, her realization of her loss of independence, lack of mobility & being bed-bound was heightened and absolutely demoralized her. Hope & motivation was disappearing for her and the plight of spending her days in a nursing home was overwhelming her, her sister and myself. With my family's consent, I applied for home-delivered meals. Meals on Wheels West was a great solution in allowing my mother to remain in the comfort of her own bed and home. The home-delivery of meals and a visit from the volunteers complemented my efforts as a caregiver. With her passing a few years ago, I now live with and care for my homebound aunt of 84 years of age. Her illness has mandated much of her time bed bound as well. Presently, I am able to manage my work, personal time and the care I must provide to make my aunt's life enjoyable. From time to time, I have been able to volunteer for Meals on Wheels West and my experience of delivering meals to the seniors and disabled, of all ages, has been a rewarding experience. As I leave their homes with a smile, I am amazed that I always feel that I just received something from them. My world becomes a little brighter when they greet me with joy and appreciation for their daily meal & my visit which maybe the only personal contact that they may have all day. I sometimes believe my time volunteering with the meal delivery is actually therapeutic for me. As a caregiver, I have explored many options for support and ways to understand my caregiving role in life. I truly understand the emotional needs of the aging and disabled persons. The need for self-esteem and a sense of independence is so important to every person. I get it as I have been a part of that life experience for so long. Meals on Wheels West is the absolute 'safety net' for the homebound person to remain healthy, vibrant and allow some independence to remain in their own homes surrounded by memories and security. The alternative are the institutions and facilities that I have come to abhor.

Meals on Wheels West is a wonderful organization that is greatly needed in the community. I volunteered for them by working in their office in addition to delivering meals to the clients. I have experienced firsthand how much the clients appreciate the service and the thoughtfulness behind it. The human contact is something that these people look forward to everyday and I enjoyed getting to know the people on my meal route. Along with the CEO/Director RoseMary Regalbuto, I was able to implement a plan to deliver emergency meal kits as well as a one-on-one emergency action plan, both for use in the event of an emergency. While delivering these kits, I could tell that emergency preparedness was not something the clients normally thought about. Multiple people cried out of gratitude as they felt like someone cared about their well-being.

I first experienced Meals on Wheels West when I volunteered at their annual Havana Night fundraiser. Everyone was very friendly, and the event was great! Since, I have continued to work with Meals on Wheels West and still love the organization. The people who work there are fun-loving and caring. Everyone really cares about the clients served and it shows by the excellent work everyone does and their willingness to go overboard for the cause.

It has been my honor to be a part of this wonderful organization. I have been a fundraiser and board member for several years now and the assistance we offer to our clients is so appreciated and necessary. When you see the happy smiles on our clients as we deliver their meals and add companionship to what can be a lonely day, nothing is more satisfying. The organization is run with wonderful, caring staff who always put the client's needs first. I am very proud to be affiliated with Meals On Wheels and will continue to do so into the future.
