I have been a volunteer for Meals as part of their Market on Wheels program for approximately 3 years. This program provides volunteers to shop for families / individuals who are not able to get to grocery store on their own. It is an amazing program which provides not only groceries for the individuals we shop for, but provides a friend, someone to interact with. It allows those home bound clients to continue to stay in their home and get the groceries and essentials that they need. It is a great way to give back to my community.
Meals on Wheels runs a great program called Market on Wheels where volunteers grocery shop for individuals who are not able to do so themselves. It is a great help to those individuals to allow them to continue to obtain groceries and cook as they wish in their homes, even when not able to get to the grocery store.
I have been volunteering with this organization for 5 years. It is a great organization that provides a much-needed service for the Lehigh County! It has been a pleasure to volunteer with them!
Thanks for volunteering and your kind review.
I have been delivering the Northern Lehigh route for 2 and 1/2 years since I transitioned from full time to park time work. I truly enjoy the interaction with my clients, I admire their tenacity for trying to remain living in their homes for as long as possible, some at incredible odds. Our nonprofit operates on a shoe string budget and is truly dependent on all of our great volunteer.
Thanks so much for all you do for our clients. Our volunteers are the heart and soul of our agency.
When I retired a year and a half ago from serving as Chaplain for Luther Crest Senior Living Community, my husband and I began delivering Meals on Wheels together as substitutes: John as a driver, and I as a server. We have felt blessed to be a part of this wonderful organization that helps homebound persons receive nutritious meals and caring visits on weekdays throughout the year. The Meals on Wheels staff and volunteers are very dedicated, and our clients often express gratitude for this important service that helps them maintain their independence.
Thank you for all you do for our clients. We truly appreciate your dedication to serving our homebound neighbors.
Meals on Wheels truly cares about their clients. I have been delivering meals for over 6 months with this organization. They go above and beyond what is required of their services. Not only do they deliver meals, each client receives surprise gifts for various holidays that are donated by corporations. Some of the volunteers visit the clients when they are hospitalized on their own time. Some Volunteers invite those with no family to spend the holidays with them. I cannot say enough good things about this organization. The staff is friendly and very helpful. They are very organized. They really care about their volunteers and their clients. I highly recommend this organization.
Thank you so much for your kind review about our service and for your caring volunteerism! Our clients love our volunteers.
My children and I have been Meals on Wheels volunteers for over 10 yrs. The joy & added blessings being volunteers has brought to our lives is tremendous. I am so thankful I was able to bring my children with me to help deliver meals at their young ages many years ago so they could learn at an early age how important it is to serve others & what a blessing elderly folks are. :0) The staff at MOW is so helpful, patient & kind & some of those ladies that work in the office are "crazy fun" people & that's why I've stayed being an volunteer for all these years!!
You and your family are amazing and we are so proud to have you in our Meals on Wheels family. Thank you for all you do for our homebound neighbors. Thanks for your kind review as well.
Meals On Wheels is an excellent organization. The staff is wonderful and caring and have done wonders in Lehigh County. I have always felt a bond with Meals On Wheels since my grandparents were both recipients in NJ. Because of the strong values, constant concern for clients and their well being, and family connections, I am proud to say I am a donor of this organization.
Thank you for your support of our Agency and for your generous support.
I have come to know many of the staff of this wonderful organization and their commitment to their clients is incredibly admirable.
Thank you for your kind review of our agency and your caring about the service we provide.
I am a middle school student who sometimes volunteers with Meals on Wheels. I think it is great organization that helps people like my pappy and am proud to help. Meals on Wheels is great and deserves your support.
Thank you for your volunteer service and all you do to help people like your pappy.
As a previous staff member, I can say Meals on Wheels is a great agency! From the hard working staff to the wonderful volunteers, they accomplish the much needed service of providing nutritious meals to those in need. Loved working there!
Thank you so much for your kind review of our agency and for all you do for our homebound clients.
I have been volunteering for six years and have found this organization to be a very caring organization that provides an essential service for seniors and adults with disabilities in our community. I am proud to be a volunteer for this great organization.
Thanks so much for volunteering with us and all you do for our homebound neighbors.
I recently began volunteering as a shopper for Meals On Wheels and had no idea just how wonderful this service is. They provide meals and shopping for those unable to provide for themselves. The people who work there truly caring individuals and the people the agency helps are so kind & grateful for the assistance.
I work full time but wanted to become involved in a volunteer program that would fit within the confines of my busy work schedule. The Call for Volunteers section in the local newspaper caught my attention and made me aware of the personal shopper program existing within the larger MOW nonprofit organization. I signed up for the introductory tutorial and knew it was a perfect personal "fit". Meeting the clients, continues to be a life altering experience for me. Their personal circumstances might differ greatly, while their needs remain the same. They need help in order to remain independent, and the MOW network helps them to do so. They are all proud and they are grateful. They help me as much as I help them. It continues to be a joy to learn a bit more about each of my clients as our friendships grow.
I have been inspired by their stories and intelligence and determination.
Meals on Wheels of Lehigh County is an invaluable asset to the community. I’ve been a member of the Board for 2 years and have witnessed such dedication from the staff as well as the volunteers. Their commitment to serving the clients is to be commended as they deliver so much more than a meal. They have such compassion for the clients and treat them as if they were a part of their own family. I enjoy delivering on the Community Champions Delivery Day and hearing unique stories from each of the clients about what the organization means to them and how it has impacted their lives. I am truly honored to be a part of this phenomenal organization.
Thank you, Kim, for your service to our organization. Our Board members are truly committed to ensuring that our homebound clients live well-nourished lives in the place they call home.
I have volunteered on the board of Meals on Wheels of Lehigh County for six years and have enjoyed every minute of it. The organization is highly dedicated, professional and does much needed work in the community helping nourish those who can no longer provide for themselves. This nourishment is not only in the form of a nutritious meal but also mentally, through companionship developed between the volunteers and the clients from the daily visits.
We truly appreciate your service to our organization and our community. Thank you for all you do to meet our mission.
I enjoy volunteering for Market on Wheels. You meet , talk and form a bond with seniors that need some extra help.
My husband Jim and I started with Meals on Wheels as delivery people on an as needed basis. We enjoyed that a lot but when the home shopping program started we felt we were better suited to do that and have been with the same person since we started. We find it to be most rewarding to assist someone in need and have taken a family feel to our client. She is a most appreciative person.

Thank you for volunteering with our grocery shopping program. We are thrilled that you found a volunteer opportunity that you find rewarding. And, we are sure our client so values your work and your friendship.
I am a Meals On Wheels grocery shopper. My clients are really nice people who just need some help because they can't get out to shop for themselves. They are so appreciative that I can help them. We have become really close and I count them as friends. This is a very valuable service to both the clients, as well as their families, who can't always be there when needed.
We truly appreciate your volunteering with us. And, how wonderful that you...and our clients...have made new friends!
Meals on Wheels has exceptional volunteers. They are caring, giving, kind, and compassionate. I am so grateful to work with such amazing and dedicated volunteers.
Thank you so much for your volunteerism. Our volunteers are the ones who keep our wheels turning.
The Lehigh County Medical Society Alliance has been providing two volunteers (one to drive and one to carry the meals in) to cover "Route 14" every Thursday since the mid-seventies. Personally, I have been doing this, as an Alliance member, since 1977. I have seen first-hand what a difference this service makes for the recipients. So many on the route welcome the mini-visit as well as the well prepared food.
For some Meals on Wheels clients, the volunteer who brings in their meal is the only visitor they will have all day. This provides a check-in for those who don't have family or friends stopping by. We volunteers call the office to report anyone who appears in distress or does not answer the door. MOW then follows up immediately.
Meals on Wheels of Lehigh County is a well run organization, providing a much needed service. The results of their work can be seen and measured every day. It is my pleasure to be one of their volunteers. Judith Arangio
Thanks so much for all you do for our clients and our agency.
I have volunteered for this organization everyday for last several years. it is a very fine organization helping feed disable and hungry. It brings such a joy to me and those who are being served. It is managed very well by a group of dedicated staff.
We so appreciate your volunteerism and kindness. Thanks for all you do!
Best Clients, Volunteers and Staff to work with. Well organized "machine".
Happy to be two of the "cogs " that keep it running smoothly.
Great people who really care about the job they are doing,
Lehigh County is blessed to have these people representing them
Thanks so much for all that you do for our clients and for helping everything run smoothly.
My husband and I have been volunteering with Meals on Wheels for two years now and love every minute of it. This is such a wonderful organization filled with caring workers and volunteers and we're so proud to be a part of it. The healthy food delivered to the elderly and needy is just part of the experience. Sharing our time and love with all the clients is more rewarding than you can imagine. From the caring staff to the lovely clients, Meals on Wheels is the best organization to be part of!
I deliver meals two days a week and also do grocery shopping for 2 shut-ins several times a month. I find it very gratifying to do this type of hands-on assistance to people in need of food and a friendly visit. Meals On Wheels is very efficient, well-organized and takes great care of the clients and the volunteers.
Many elderly cannot afford their meals and receive a subsidy through the agency and community contributions. These elderly people would go without warm meals if it weren't for Meals On Wheels. Great to help.
Thank you so much for all you do as a volunteer--delivering meals as well as grocery shopping. Your care and kindness mean the world to our clients.
There are so many people involved with Meals on Wheels. This organization really cares about people in out community & does not receive enough reconzation.
Thank you for your kind words and your volunteering to ensure that our homebound are well nourished in their own homes.
We volunteer for Market on Wheels. Such a satisfying experience for us as volunteers to aid a client who can still do their own cooking or some meal preparation but is unable to get out routinely for grocery shopping. This satisfaction is not only one sided. Our client is always happy to see us as we are to see and help her. She brings us joy as we bring a sense that someone cares for her and her well being.
We know that our clients so enjoy the volunteer visit as well as the service you provide. Thank you.
Meals on Wheels of the Lehigh Valley is a fabulous organization! They provide meals, grocery delivery service and perhaps most importantly, a friendly smile to many who are unable to leave their homes and don't have family that are able to visit. I am honored to volunteer with this organization.
Thank you for volunteering and bringing joy to our clients.
I am also fortunate to be a Market on Meals volunteer with Meals on Wheels. All the staff at Meals on Wheels go above and beyond to make sure the people they serve are treated with dignity and respect. The personal connection is such an important part of their mission. Grocery shopping for my client is always a highlight of my week. I love doing this and am so happy to be a small part of a great organization!
Thank you for your kinds words and all that you do for "your" client. You are an everyday hero.
It makes me feel good seeing the smiles on the faces of our clients who require assistance shopping. I wish I had more time to shop for others. Meals on Wheels is a blessing for their clients.
Thank you for the time you are able to give....it means the world to our clients. We truly appreciate your service.
It's a great nonprofit with an amazing purpose, I love being part of this wonderful organization! My client values the services MoW-LV provide immensely!
Thank you for sharing your kindness and caring with our Agency. Volunteers are the heart and soul of Meals on Wheels.
I am a volunteer for this excellent organization. I am so impressed by the dedication and compassion the volunteers and staff show toward the people they serve! Providing healthy meals and friendly visits to those that need assistance but want to remain in their own homes provides huge benefits to the entire community. Keep up the great work!
Thank you for your nice comments and for all you do for Meals on Wheels and the homebound clients that the Agency serves.
Meals on Wheels is a wonderful organization. I love volunteering and getting to know the clients.
Our volunteers are the heart and soul of our Agency. Thank you for being one of, as one clients said, a "special angel."
Being a volunteer shopper for the "Grocery on Wheels"program all I can say is in the last 40 plus years that I had been employed in the corporate world this job paid the least financially BUT paid the most emotionally and fully satisfies the soul with the true meaning of giving back....There has been no finer "Meaning of Life"experience for me....Thank you..
Thank you for your sweet words and for all you do for our homebound clients. Your care means the world.
I have volunteered in the Carbon county area MOW program for a while and recently moved into Allentown-Lehigh County..I was intriqued by the new program called "Market on Wheels"a thinking out of the box food delivery concept very needed by many in the area...I am happy to report not only am I enjoying volunteering and the clients we serve, BUT the staff and coordinator of the program have nothing BUT the best interests of our clients at heart regarding all decisions....A true joy for me getting back WAY MORE than I give...Thank you MOW....Jeffrey L. Minnich Sr.
Thank you for all you do for our homebound. You are definitely and everyday hero!
I have been a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for over 30 years! I would not be doing this if it were not such a good organized organization and serving a very needed purpose. I have found it very enjoyable to deliver the meals and meet the clients as well as the other volunteers. It makes my day to do the MOW route whether visiting or driving, and see the clients and what is going on in their lives. I miss them when they are no longer on the route, and usually check to see what happened to them as to why they are not on the route.
Thank you, thank you for all you do to ensure that our homebound clients are well nourished and happy in their own homes.
My husband has been a Meals on Wheels volunteer for over 8 years and he always says he has gotten back more than he has given. I am excited to say because of all the positive things he has told me that I have just become a Market on Wheels volunteer. I signed up to do shopping for someone when needed. I am so very proud to become a part of this wonderful organization.
Thank you to you and your husband for all you do for our homebound seniors and adults with disabilities. You are both amazing.
I love being a volunteer for Meals on Wheels because I've had the opportunity to interact with some wonderful clients of the program. They are generous in sharing their experiences that are so interesting and informative. And they are always so appreciative of what we do for them.
Thank you for the care and concern you have for our homebound clients. Your volunteering means the world to them. Our clients truly love our volunteers.
Meals on Wheels is a wonderful organization. The individuals involved and volunteers not only provide meals for the elderly, disabled and others in need who cannot prepare meals for themselves, they also provide companionship. At times, Meals on Wheels has also found individuals who have fallen or otherwise became ill and were able to call for help. Meals on Wheels is an invaluable asset to the community.
Thank you for all you do for Meals on Wheels and the homebound seniors and adults with disabilities that the Agency serves.
As a volunteer I get to see first hand the appreciation from the clients when we deliver. The smiling faces and thank you are a great return on our efforts. Just knowing that our elderly community members are seeing at least one person each day along with receiving two meals makes me feel better about the world in which we live.
Thank you for your service to our homebound. Your visit means the world to them.
Meals on Wheels provides a great service for getting meals to the people that need it. The volunteers deliver a meal as well as a friendly smile and conversation.
Thank you for your kinds words. We truly appreciate the support of our community.
I know several elderly and home bound people that depend on Meals on Wheels. They are always treated with respect and compassion. Lehigh Valley volunteers are wonderful people and are so very much appreciated. Thank you to everyone that volunteers to this organization!
Thanks for your kinds words and support of our volunteers.
I truly enjoy being a volunteer in the MoW grocery-shopping program. I LOVE grocery shopping, and to be able to do it for someone who can not is a privilege. We volunteers get as much out of volunteering as the folks we help. And the fact that the MoW staff is helpful, professional and gracious is just the icing on the cake!!
Thanks for all you do for our homebound clients.
Before i retired, I was a Home Care provider for local hospital. My patients always asked that I not come when they were expecting their meals, because they enjoyed the visit from the volunteer as much as the food. It was almost a universal request. Once I retired, I decided to volunteer for MOW, and actually am now part of Market on Wheels, a spin-off of MOW. Volunteers shop for people who can still cook, but for whatever reason, cannot shop. It costs them $5, and I have been doing this for several weeks now, and love it. And "my" lady is so happy, because she has no one to shop for her while she is recovering from surgery. MOW is a very organized organization - all my questions were answered thoroughly at orientation for Market on Wheels, and the coordinator is just a phone call away. Handling (and spending) someone else's money is a big responsibility, but with the training and assistance, I feel comfortable. And since I love food-shopping, it is a win-win!
Thank you for your kinds words and your volunteering.
Meals on Wheels Lehigh County is a tremendous asset to the Lehigh Valley! They keep older and disabled people in their homes longer. They create relationships between the organization and the Community. They provide a much appreciate visit and smile to the clients everyday.
Meals on Wheels of Lehigh County provides so much more than essential nutrition for your loved one. We provide a visit, a check-in, a warm smile, a friendly face, kind words, security for the family and a team of people who cares about your family member like our own. I am honored to be a Board Member for this great organization! Your support helps us to provide for more people every day! Thank you!
MOW serves a greater need than simply delivering meals. Yes, that is very important. But even more, the delivery person may be the only personal contact the client has that day. Many of the clients live by themselves and don't have that much contact outside of their immediate surroundings. So, MOW provides both nourishment for the body and the soul.
Meals on Wheels of Lehigh County may have a small staff but they along with their volunteers have a very large Heart! Their commitment to the clients they serve goes above and beyond and I am proud to be a member of their Board.
Great organization! My mother was very fortunate to receive their services.
This is such a rewarding organization to volunteer for! The folks we visit are so happy to see a visitor and a hot meal. Every trip I take is time well spent. Meals on Wheels as an organization is so thoughtful and organized - it really makes helping a pleasure.
Great organization, dedicated volunteers, and you can see your efforts are appreciated each and every time you deliver meals. It is a pleasure to be able to help the community and its members so directly.
Well run organization. Fabulously supportive staff.
My story began with my mother-in-law, who received Meals on Wheels daily. When we would visit her, she would be so excited and tell us about her visitor that day and the great food she received. The visit and food delivery was definitely the highlight of her day. One funny story was that my husband would write her bills and saw the MOW bill was due. She kept insisting that she paid it but her checkbook did not show a missing check. Hence he called the office and was told that she did pay her bill and sent in excess of $100 in cash to the office via mail. When my father retired, he decided to keep busy and become a volunteer delivering meals on a daily basis. Not only does it keep him active, but he is so proud of his accomplishments and loves the wonderful MOW family! The story goes on as I was between jobs and decided to volunteer in the MOW office and truly found how how dedicated and wonderful the staff really is. Not only does their job entail keeping the program running on a daily basis, but the many fundraisers which are necessary due to monetary constraints. I found another permanent job in the Lehigh County area and was very happy to begin a Corporate volunteer delivery program. We now have 2 teams that deliver twice/week. So while I have been and am involved in the many faucets of Meals on Wheels, I am happy to say that it is a wonderful and rewarding experience!
I had the honor of delivering meals on behalf of my emplopyer during the annual community delivery day and from the moment I arrived I was impressed by the level of organization, attention to detail, and most importantly the pride and compassion of the staff and volunteers. The impact Meals on Wheels of Lehigh Valley has on the community is invaluable! This agency truly practices their mission statement with every client served.
I have been a volunteer with Meals on Wheels of Lehigh County since 2008. Our company participated in annual Community Service Days. We were so impressed with how organized they were that we started a company team in 2009 that delivers meals every Tuesday. Every one in the organization is great to work with! They truly care about the clients and volunteers.
Meals on Wheels of Lehigh County is an extraordinary organization. The small staff of 6 full time individuals are extremely hard working and passionate about fulfilling their mission of providing meals to homebound adults within the community we live. With servicing over 400 clients per day, the organization is efficient and well organized and most importantly commited to the well-being of our seniors.
It only takes a minute in the presence of the staff and board of Meals on Wheels of Lehigh County to feel the passion and commitment to serve their clients. I had the opportunity to deliver Christmas Trees and gifts this past holiday season and the warmth and appreciation of the recipients was overwhelming. Meals on Wheels truly makes a difference in the lives of their clients and volunteers. I am honored to be a part of this organization.
My mother is a client of Meals on Wheels and the service has helped her in numerous ways. She receives well prepared, nutritious meals and visits from smiling volunteers. Some days those volunteers are the only people she sees. She is better able to stay in her home and not have the worry of preparing meals. And our family has the assurance that she is being visited every weekday and provided with good food.
I also volunteer and I am a board member and I am proud to be associated with such a great and needed service. I am honored to help a generation of people that has done so much.
I recently joined the board this year, and I have nothing but amazing experiences to share. The entire staff is absolutely fantastic. Everyone is extremely friendly, dedicated, and passionate about what they do. I did my first delivery route yesterday and words cannot even begin to describe my experience. I met many of the "regular" volunteers and they were so welcoming. I was impressed that almost everyone commented about how wonderful the staff at MOW of LC was to work with. Working with this organization is a retreat, a breath of fresh air, from my career - and I LOVE what I do.
I was lucky enough to join the board of this wonderful organization this year. The staff is so passionate and dedicated to their mission of delivering nutritious meals to homebound individuals. The volunteers provide much more than just meals. They offer a smiling face, daily human interaction and a helping hand with many household needs. I'm proud to serve on the board of an organization that has such a positive impact on our community.
I work in a nursing home for 27 years and would see the volunteers from meals on wheel from Monday to /Friday. I later became friends with Betty Minor, one of the orgainls. When I had a day off and she needed
someone to help, I said yes. I retired and we became Friday parents. She no longer drive and she still delivers. I enjoy voluntering for Meals on Wheel It so rewarding.
I have been on the board for three years now and the experience has not only been personally wonderful but also educational. This is my first time volunteering on a board and to be able to work with such dedicated passionate personnel, wonderful volunteers and committed board members has made the experience so inspirational. Pam Bechtel and Michele Grasso pour their heart and soul into this organization to make it the success it is. We are dedicated to our clients and the mission to delivering nutritious meals to keep those who want to be independent but homebound happy and healthy.
I'm very proud to serve on this board and be a part of such a wonderful stable successful organization!
I have been a volunteer with Meals on Wheels since November 2012, delivering meals and working in the office. Not only is MOW a wonderful organization for people receiving the meals, but the office staff goes above and beyond for the people receiving the service. I am honored to be a part of this organization and associated with the employees and volunteers.
My husband andI have been volunteers for14 years. We truly feel that this is a great organizatuion, efficiently run, but still having a great heart. All of the staff, and the volunteers, care greatly for the clients. We also had medical problems whichmade us recepients of Meals for two weeks. It is just as fine an organization from that side.
Review from Guidestar
I've been a volunteer with Meals on Wheels of Lehigh County for over three years. It's a great experience, going out in the community and delivering meals so that people in need can continue living independently. The people I work with, both employees of Meals on Wheels of Lehigh County and other volunteers I've gotten to know, are wonderful, upstanding people, providing a vital service. I enjoy getting to know new people through Meals on Wheels, people who are dedicated to a wonderful cause. It's great to know that Meals on Wheels is so dedicated in the fight against hunger.
I am a volunteer with many organizations, but my favorite is Meals on Wheels. It's been a family affair with 9 members of my extended family having served as volunteers---one was a driver until age 92! Volunteering with Meals on Wheels is a family tradition that has proven to be very rewarding---for the clients, but also for us individually. There is nothing more important to a person struggling with issues of health or of aging than to see a smiling face each day, to hear a friendly "hello", and to receive nutritious and tasty food brought by a volunteer.
