I couldn't find an email address, so maybe I can get a message in this way. I just mailed in a contribution to Meals on Wheels Foundation of Northern Illinois, but I have an observation. Five meals for $35 is $7 per meal. IF preparation and delivery is by volunteers, it seems that maybe a meal could be put together for less than $7. I also contribute to the Greater Chicago Food Depository, and it seems a dollar goes much further there. I wonder if there could be some possible synergy between you and them, unless that's too complicated. Keep up the good work though!
I have been a volunteer with CNNSSA and The Meals on Wheels Foundation of Cook County/Northern Illinois for more than 15 years. I currently handle maintenance and care of vehicles owned and operated by CNNSSA and MOWF. I work with CNNSSA managers and community leaders to get donations through events and programs designed to raise awareness for seniors and persons with disabilities and there needs. In 2012 our March for Meals and Annual Holiday Fundraiser netted more than $50,000.00 for our seniors and persons with disabilities. Our goal in 2013 is $100,00.00. Every penny of our donation efforts goes to programs for Home Delivered Meals, Cafe meals and senior sharing events like bingo, field trips, and minor home repairs for both comfort and safety. Volunteers are the heart and soul of Meals on Wheels. We have hundreds of volunteers each year, I wish for two things, some way to clone our volunteers or better yet find more volunteers in our communities. Second, is for people to open there hearts and purse strings to donate a dollar or a million dollars, we are easy and will accept any donation.
