Programs: Mclaren bay special care provided long term acute medical care for 121 discharged patients from oct 2016 through sep 2017. Patients routinely stay in excess of 25 days and require specialized treatment not normally available in a general hospital setting. For cost reporting periods beginning on or after 10/1/2015, ltch medicare discharges not meeting specific criteria will be paid at a new site neutral payment rate. The specific criteria is that the discharge must have been immediately preceded by a subsection (d) hospital discharge. The patient discharged from the ltch must have either spent at least 3 days in an intensive care unit during the immediately preceding subsection (d) hospital stay or received at least 96 hours of respiratory ventilation services during the ltch stay. The specific criteria has resulted in a decreased patient census at mclaren bay special care.
