You are absolutely correct that one should not look forward to a response. Maybe if a donation came with it? I am fostering an 8-yr-old Min Pinscher for 5 months from another rescue. Since Maytes' passion is to save dogs, and elderly ones, at that, I emailed Maytes twice telling about Astro, with picture, that perhaps she will put him on her website for greater coverage for adoption. My contact info was included. No response! I guess she's not passionate about placing all dogs. Sadly, we animal care-givers and advocates cannot go forward together. I need to consider that I credited a rescue and got less than expected..
What this organization does is great. But they do not have good response rates on your status of application. I understand if you cannot give reason to why the application was not approved, but a simple "sorry you were not approved" or "sorry the pet you were interested in has been adopted already" would be nice. Instead, they ignore your emails and messages. Their adoption form is very long as well with repetitive questions. I have applied to other animal rescues and their application forms were no where near as long as theirs. Congrats if you are able to adopt a buddy from them.
Do not trust. They changed their mind a day before we were to get a 2 year old for $400. That is no non profit business. Their excuse was we had a dog that was not neutered. Our champion show dog that our breeder owns and may use for breeding champions. We have a special license for him. Do I pay $400 and get a dog not knowing the history and they require us to neuter our breeder’s dog. You know where they can go! I have had 10 champion show dogs over the past 35 years. They deprived the dog of an outstanding home and life. I know the highest quality dogs better then their employees do. My last standard poodle was adopted from Lied for $80 and we had him until he was 14-16 years old. They did not make such unreal demands. This company are a disservice to dogs that need the best homes
Love what this woman does since I learned about her and her rescue. My husband got a rescued dog from her and surprised our granddaughter. Was skeptical at first because you never what they’ve been through. Such a loving dog. Can’t believe someone would throw her away. I support this rescue organization and any animal rescue organization for what they do. Wish I could do more.
The previous review is part of the scam artists run by a fake journalist who runs mayte hate pages. Mayte never charges a foster fee and never offered a dog with cleft palate and told somebody they'd have to pay for surgery. This person is a flat out liar who is jealous of the fact Prince didn't know she was alive and takes it out on Mayte, his ex wife. So do not believe what this person says. She should be ashamed for posting false reviews in hopes of hurting an animal rescue that saves lives.
I wanted to adopt a dog from this rescue because I am a Prince fan and animal lover and I admired Mayte Garcia's passion for animals. Her manager Dave told me via Facebook that I could email Josh at the rescue facility and pick out one of the dogs there. When I got in touch, I found the cutest little puppy and inquired about adopting. I was told he was only available for "fostering" and the fee was $500. To foster. I said okay, was told to come and puck it up in a few days. When I returned, the dog wasn't there. I was offered another "foster" in its place. The new dog had a cleft pallette and would require serious medical care at my expense. I chose not to do it because it was a foster and could be taken from my family at any time. I was reluctantly given a refund to which Mayte promptly took to social media to complain about. This rescue is a scam and should be investigated.
