On June 1 of 2024, we adopted Samara, now Sami. Today is the first anniversary of adopting our Sami It was our first experience with MatchDog. We were told we probably wouldn’t be successful as it was our first time adopting; but we made it!
She is now 2 years old and coming along nicely. She’s cute, fiesty and most of all, healthy. We now donate monthly to help you keep these babies safe and get them into good homes. Thank you.
Matchdog rescue is certainly a Great Nonprofit!
Our recent adoption was made easy and comfortable throughout the process.
The volunteer teams of rescuers take pairing the dogs with their perfect match seriously.
We are so grateful for the depth of love and care given to these dogs as they are received and fostered.
We were very appreciative of the personal note given to us with our starter pack from the foster family.
Our sweet boy, ”Ollie” formerly, “Gunner”, had enriched our lives immensely in such a short time!
He adores people and is aways eager to make a new friend!
He’s perfect for us and we are so grateful to have connected with Matchdog rescue for our adoption!
Shout out to the efforts of all dedicated match dog rescue fosters and staff. They are caring, and do all they can to match successfully ❤️
We just adopted our 2nd MatchDog (Emelia, now Luna) a few weeks ago and I would not want to adopt from any other rescue. The volunteers are kind, knowledgeable, friendly and responsive. The process was very different than the 1st time we adopted our first matchdog 5 years ago during Covid, but whenever I had questions, they answered within a day. Both of our matchdog girls are just the sweetest and we couldn't love them more. Sending a special thank you to everyone who helped bring our girls to their forever home!
I was at a book club meeting attended by a new person. We began to chat, and he mentioned that he was associated with Matchdog rescue. I told him I’ve been thinking of getting a dog, but I had specific parameters. I did not want a puppy, the dog needed to be housebroken and no larger than medium sized. He showed me a picture of “Ryland” who met all of my specifications. He said that he was such a nice dog and he couldn’t understand why no one applies for him. I immediately fell in love with this dog in the picture. Within a week he was mine.
The process was thorough, they followed up with my vet and interviewed me. We set up a meet, and I took him home that day. They transferred the microchip, gave me a free month of pet insurance and signed me up discounts at Petco and petsmart.
Looking through their website I was impressed by the variety of available dogs. I will recommend this rescue to anyone looking for a dog.
When our dog passed...the house was empty....so we decided we needed a dog. MatchDog found us the perfect little girl....Breezie...is an angel....She was scared the first few days....loved the crate...but with the door always open...she thought it would be nice to explore her forever home....she roamed around the entire house. Now she sleeps in her bed....and sometimes in the crate...women can't make up their minds. Breezie loves walking around our back yard....She goes to the side door....and we know she wants out.
I couldn't ask for a better dog....
I had such a wonderful experience with MatchDog Rescue. I first reached out when I applied to become a foster parent, and from the very beginning, the MDR team was incredibly informative and supportive. They provided helpful resources, including a detailed video about the foster process, and I even joined a virtual meet-and-greet where I learned more about their mission to save abandoned dogs. Hearing that MDR is run entirely by volunteers made me even more inspired to be part of their organization.
I fostered a puppy for a week, and MatchDog made it so easy by providing all the food and supplies I needed. Shortly after, I adopted Aide—and I couldn’t be happier. It's such an amazing feeling to know that I’m giving her a second chance and a forever home.
Thank you, MatchDog, for the love, care, and dedication you pour into every dog and every person who joins your community. I'm so grateful to be a small part of the incredible work you do.
Lilly is the greatest gift we could asked for. So precious and touches our hearts. I would recommend MatchDig to anyone looking to expand their family
Last Saturday 2/22/2025 We adopted two Chihuahua's from Match Dog Rescue Magdalina and Rue. They are very cute and good little girls that we love. The process at Match Dog is very good they really care about there dogs and make sure that they are going to good homes. Everyone of the volunteers were very friendly and helpful they made the process easy and fun. Match Dog Rescue is doing a wonderful job saving dogs and finding them good homes.
Thank You
Linda & Bob Wrioblewski
Matchdog Rescue is amazing. The process was so quick and easy and everyone was so helpful and so nice. We adopted Corduroy and she so sweet and so smart and awesome. Thank you from me and my daughter
Adopting a dog through Matchdog Rescue has been a life-changing experience for me. Not only have I gained a loyal companion, but I have also had the opportunity to make a positive impact on the life of a dog in need. As a volunteer with Matchdog Rescue, I have seen firsthand the dedication and hard work that goes into matching dogs with their perfect forever homes.
The adoption process with Matchdog Rescue was seamless and thorough. The organization's team of volunteers work tirelessly. From the initial application to the final adoption, the process was efficient and well-organized.
My dog, whom I adopted through Matchdog Rescue, has brought immense joy and companionship into our life. Watching him thrive and grow in their new environment has been incredibly rewarding. As a volunteer, I have also had the opportunity to help other dogs find their forever homes, which has been a truly fulfilling experience.
Volunteering with Matchdog Rescue has allowed me to make a difference in the lives of dogs The organization relies heavily on volunteers to help with everything from dog walking and socialization to fundraising and event planning. By volunteering my time, I have been able to contribute to the important work that Matchdog Rescue does and be part of a like-minded community of animal lovers.
If you are considering adopting a dog or volunteering with an animal rescue organization, I highly recommend looking into Matchdog Rescue. The organization's commitment to finding forever homes for dogs in need is inspiring, and the sense of community and camaraderie among volunteers is palpable. By adopting a dog through Matchdog Rescue and volunteering my time, I have gained a new furry friend and a sense of purpose, and I couldn't be more grateful.
We adopted Bryce, now Harley, last Sunday. It was a nice experience. Loved seeing all the adoptable pups. Fairly easy, though, lengthy process. But we were able to bring him home the same day because we were preapproved . Highly recommend.
My family adopted Tyler on 2/1/25. Tyler is such a happy puppy and has brought so much joy and blessings to our family. We look forward to all the beautiful life experiences we would share together. Thank you MatchDog Rescue.
My family fostered a dog through MatchDog. They had a great process in place where I had all of my questions answered and knew exactly what to expect prior to picking up the dog to foster. Since we didn't already have a dog, they provided us with the supplies needed and matched me with a mentor who answered any questions we had about caring for the dog.
A few days into our week of fostering, our family decided that we just loved the dog so much that we couldn't bear to see him go to another family. We ended up adopting our Willy (formerly Dijon) and we are so happy that this sweet pup completes our family!
Everyone at MatchDog was very helpful both in the fostering and adoption process. What a great group of individuals who are truly dedicated to finding perfect homes for all of the dogs in their care!
I absolutely love volunteering for this MatchDog Rescue. Few things are more heartwarming than being surrounded by people who want to save animals as much as you do. To say it's a well oiled machine is an understatement. Highly recommend.
MatchDog Rescue volunteers are so amazing! They save and rescue dogs from TX every week and transport them here for adoption. My experience with their adoption process was so efficient, thorough and simple. Tristan, my new Chihuahua mix, is an handsome Angel, and very healthy. He’s settling in with me and my home very nicely! I highly recommend MatchDog Rescue!
Dealing with this organization has been the most horrendous experience I’ve ever had. The leadership is the most unprofessional group of people I’ve ever encountered. My husband and I waited over 2 years to adopt a dog after losing our girl. We decided to use Match, as we have a few friends that volunteer. We learned that the dog we applied for was adopted. 2 weeks later we were contacted and told he is available. Naturally we asked why he was surrendered. We were told he “didn’t get along with the previous owners elderly cats”. We don’t have cats so we didn’t see an issue. In the interim we contacted the previous owner. We were told they didn’t have cats. Rather their granddaughter didn’t care for the dog. So we adopted him. Within 2 weeks we realized he wasn’t the best “match” as he was an alpha dog, and we have many dogs that we pet sit. We had an incident with 2 dogs within 48 hours. We did not expect this at all. As he was great with us. We never imagined he would react like this. We were heartbroken when this happened. Immediately I contacted the previous owner again to see if she had a similar experience. She then told me she did and that she told MATCH DOG about her experience. We were not cautioned by MATCH DOG that this was a probability. It put us in a very dangerous position. We had no choice but to surrender him. Instead of understanding why we were so upset that we were lied to, we were scolded by MATCH DOG for contacting the previous owner. As if this wasn’t difficult enough, the day we surrendered him we were told that if he wasn’t adopted we would be fostering him until he was adopted. As difficult as this would have been, traveling etc. we agreed. The day we surrendered him we waited for 3 hours to see if he was adopted. We received a text stating “Hello there, There is no need to return. Ty so much. Take care. We will be hoping off this chat now. It will be closed for messaging. Take care”. That was it. No information as to if he was adopted or being fostered by someone. Less than a week later we found out through friends who volunteer that he was not adopted nor is he being fostered. This was very concerning to us. We didn’t know if he was given to a shelter, spca, euthanized…We felt awful. We surrendered him to be put into the right situation, and we were honest about his limitations. So we contacted the head of their organization asking what happened to him. She called us back and went off the deep end. Screaming and yelling at us, stating if we cared we wouldn’t have surrendered him. We absolutely cared for him. If we didn’t care we would not have asked what happened to him. We were very concerned. It broke my heart to bring him back, only to be chastised and made to feel like this was our fault. This organization lied to us. As a result, people and animals were put at risk and this poor dog was surrendered twice. We have no idea what happened to him or why it’s a big secret. If you’re thinking of rescuing a dog, in my opinion this organization is not your best option.
Matchdog Rescue helped us find the perfect dog for our family. The process was very easy and everyone was so helpful. I would recommend Matchdog Rescue to anyone looking for their fur baby.
I’m so happy that I found MatchDog. They were great through the vetting process. I really enjoyed the adoption event where you could go spend time with all the fur babies available for adoption. You have time to interact and get to know all the dogs. We couldn’t be happier with Pumpkin (aka Keeley) she is so sweet, well behaved and loving. We couldn’t have asked for a better pup ❤️
I can’t express how easy it was and how efficient the staff is at MD. I applied and the next day I was approved. We had a meet and greet with a little pup named Banjo. We immediately knew he was coming home with us from the visit. He was a sweetheart and I need the say the foster family did a wonderful job raising him. He is 1 year old and could not be more perfect for our family. The whole process took about a week and a half. We love our little fur baby Banjo! Thank you MD!
We are thrilled to have Brewer as our new addition to our family! The volunteers at Matchdog Rescue were very organized and helpful. Since we’ve brought Brewer home, they’ve responded to every question we’ve had as well. They even sent us some great pictures of his life before we adopted him.
Everything about this pup shows that he has had a great experience with his foster home. After one week, he is trusting and eager to make friends with the whole world.
Considering everyone at MatchDog Rescue is a volunteer, the adoption process went extremely well. Everyone was kind, considerate and very patient. We love our new dog (formerly 'Ashli', now Pepper) and consider her part of the family. If you're looking to adopt a dog, I would recommend MatchDog, paws down.
I can’t express enough how helpful and kind the volunteers at MatchDog Rescue were during our adoption process. They were extremely diligent during the selection process, making sure to choose the best candidate for their babies. We will be forever grateful for their rescue efforts that brought our baby to his forever home! We couldn’t be happier with our choice and will be sure to choose MatchDog again!
We adopted our dog, Juliet, from match dog and we are just thrilled with our new addition. She is happy and healthy and a joy to our family. We were pre approved and went to a match event where we met her. The process was organized and efficient. Thank you so much for our newest family member
We are so ever grateful for this wonderful organization saving dogs. It was so organized and the adoption went smoothly. We have the sweetest little mixed terrier, she’s already captured our hearts. A big shout out to all the volunteers that volunteer their time and love for animals. We are so happy Kash came into our lives, once again thank you
I had been looking for a scruffy terrier like the ones we owned previously and even though my husband said 'no more dogs' when I showed him Mason's picture he said yes. The adoption process was easy and inexpensive for all we got--neutered/microchipped/vetted. We were approved and awaited our pup's journey from the high-kill Texas shelter. This dog has been wonderful, very cuddly and loving, everything I wanted. Thank you to the volunteers and everyone at MatchDog Rescue.
I have been in a state of morning since I lost my Stella three months ago. I have jumped through hoops and bagged, and people fell. I was not right for some of the dogs that I requested took the time to listen to me and helped me find The dog I was looking for. everyone was so kind and even with as many dogs they had to match up they took the time to make me feel special. We adopted a terrier mix who is an absolute perfect addition to our family.
I was so impressed with the way they do things at match dog that I’m going to try to volunteer. I even met new friends there.
Everyone who lives close by or even 100 miles away it definitely is worth the ride. If I ever feel I need to rescue another, that will be the place I will go
I have adopted two wonderful dogs from Matchdog Rescue. All of the staff are kind, dedicated, and invested in the cause. The dogs are well cared for and clearly loved in their foster homes. If I adopt again I will definitely adopt from Matchdog. It’s worth the 11/2 drive!
I’m very pleased with my adoption experience at Match Dog Rescue. I adopted Rowlett (now Madeline) on April 27, 2024. She is a fabulous companion – everything I could have hoped for!
It seems that the dogs are very well taken care of throughout their journey to NJ – from the partner rescue facility in Corpus Christi where she received her medical care and spay, to the transport, to the foster family in NJ, where she lived for two weeks. I especially appreciated being able to follow several dogs in foster here in NJ and read new posts and see updated photos and videos. When I went to the adoption event, I felt like I knew which dogs might be a good fit.
The volunteers – and many are behind the scenes – are all clearly dedicated and serious about animal welfare. I’m impressed with their level or organization and process. It really touched me when I learned that they take into their care pregnant dogs and dogs who need significant medical care. When I was considering adoption, there were several adorable tripods in foster, all of whom were adopted!
The adoption process uses technology to its best advantage. Payment is by cash or Venmo, so be prepared to bring cash if you don’t use Venmo.
This was a very good experience!
I have adopted twice from this organization. They are doing God’s work. I have never seen a group of people more dedicated to the cause of rescuing dogs. They are cheerful and so happy for the new dog parents. They have changed my life.
We adopted Wabash (now Cooper) on Saturday April 6th. This was the first time we adopted but not our first dog. The drive to MDR was about 70 miles each way but well worth the time and miles.
We had an appointment to meet Cooper and the same day was Match Dog's Match-A-Thon. To our surprise it was quite crowded, which is a good thing, hopefully there were a good number of adoptions !!! We were thinking that the meet and greet experience wasn't going to work out very well. SO we were very wrong, despite the large crowd everything was very well organized and the first time we met our Cooper he greeted us jumping for joy. Right then and there we knew we didn't need the full 30 minutes to decided weather Cooper was a good match.
The closing process was also well organized, we received Cooper's medical records. He was fully up to date with vaccinations, vet care, was already neutered and was microchipped before we got there.
All the MDR staff were friendly, we can tell they really care about every single dog they have and want all of them to be placed in loving homes, like ours !!!
It's almost a week since we adopted Cooper and he is adjusting very nicely to our home and daily routine. He has become very attached to me, he's my little shadow everywhere I go !!
Match Dog did a wonderful job in matching Wabash/Cooper to us, thank you Match Dog Rescue. I won't hesitate to refer MDR to anyone else looking to adopt.
I don’t know if I can do justice to express what all you people do, have done, and will continue to do! This has been one of the most touching experiences of my life! Everyone was so incredible and genuinely kind& touching to work with.. get to know. Very warm & inviting to the cause of all these little furry guys and us the new families. We adopted “Thorn”… who we now call “Shelton” ( after Blake Shelton..my other favorite guy..LOL). I have said it and will continue to.. “The foster family he had did beyond WONDERFUL with him!!” He is so well balanced in house manners..and rolls so well with anything! We take him everywhere..stores, restaurants..and he has been on his first real road trip already. We LOVE ❤️ him so much! Beyond words!! We can never THANK YOU ALL enough for what you have done for us… and for everything you do everyday..moment for these guys. You all are forever in our hearts & prayers. We plan to help your continue causes in the future
We adopted our MatchDog FKA Jamie on 10/28/23 and we could not have asked for a better experience, or pup!! The MatchDog team was so helpful, professional and organized, and our pup was a dream come true! She is so sweet and smart, and our boys love her beyond measure. I have told countless friends and acquaintances about this organization and plan to continue spreading the word to anyone in search for a new addition to their family. Thank you, MatchDog!
What an amazing group of people the Matchdog Rescue are. Organized, friendly, helpful, willing to answer a lot of (my) questions! My son accompanied me to the 'meet & greet' so that my new four- legged companion could stay outside while I went into the building to finalize my adoption. She turned out to be everything I'd been looking for this past year! Luckily, I was the first one to fill out the application! We're already enjoying our walks, running in the fenced back yard, treats for entering crate with hand signal (she's very smart!), and healthy dog food. And she learned her new name within the first 24 hours. I named her Trudi (character from a movie I love). My grown sons are enchanted by her...I shall add a photo when her hair grows in. I'm so glad I donated $$ to Matchdog and the drivers who brought her from Texas!
MatchDog Rescue is an amazing organization! The adoption process is very thorough (as it should be) but they help you every step of the way. I tell everyone I know who is looking to adopt to reach out to MDR. We love our new dog!
Ruby has brought so much happiness to our lives. We adopted her through Matchdog Rescue on March 16,2024.
I was thoroughly impressed how comprehensive their adoption process was, including medical care, transportation, and their final adoption event. You can see the volunteers have a true passion for finding a safe and loving family for the dogs.
Ruby was given a clean bill of health from our vet. She loves to play with our grandchildren and enjoys cuddling.
Thank you Matchdog Rescue for bringing us our Ruby, you are phenomenal!
We adopted our boy Buddy (formerly Belasco) back in early November and couldn’t be happier! He is such a joyful little guy! He is everything we could have hoped for, and more! He made himself at home very quickly and loves all people and other dogs! He loves his walks, and is a great cuddler on the couch! Our MDR experience was very smooth and wonderful from the very beginning! We would highly recommend them! Their goal is to match the right dog (or animal) with the right potential owner and in our case, it couldn’t have worked out any better! I have no doubt we will use them again in the future when the time comes! Buddy is a perfect match for us and for him as well! He is full of love and joy! Many thanks MDR
We adopted Dunkirk(now called Teddy 3 months ago. we both fell in love with him since he has a great personality and temperment. Loves our large back yard and plays with squeaky toys and plays catch.
He follows me all over and we have a special bond. My wife has been in the hospital and home recuperating.. Teddy shows his affection to the both of us and we are glad we adopted him. Note,
it did not take us long to make the decision. Thank You MDR!!!
It’s been five weeks to the day since the adoption of the sweetest little dog. I lost my Mom two years ago this past January. my dog at the time (Melly) was a great source of comfort and helped me through some hard sad times. Last April after 16 years of much love and companionship she passed. Because of my new situation I didn’t want to go through the puppy stage again. Having to work made it impossible to train a puppy and provide the constant care puppies require. My sister suggested adopting an young dog which caused me to look on PetFinder. That’s where I spotted my new constant companion. I placed a message of interest and very shortly was contacted via email from MatchDog. Filling out the application was easy and soon I was on my way to being accepted as a good candidate. My references were contacted and then I was interviewed by a wonderful member of the MatchDog team. She explained the process and was so helpful answer questions I had and listening to my past dog owner experiences. I believe meet day was about a week later. That was the longest week in history. The Saturday finally arrived and I had reserved first look at the dog I spotted. I hate to drive so my cousin offered and away we went on our journey. We arrived and were greeted by many wonderful and kind people. They directed us to park and then advised of what happens next. We waited in the car and watched the process unfold before our eyes as helpers guided dogs to other cars. It was so great to see the reactions of the people greeting their new dogs. Some had an immediate smile, some cried with joy, truly an heartwarming experience. After a long while a helper came from a distance with a dog in her arms wearing a purple sweater. Purple being my favorite color It got my attention. Then I saw that sweet little face I looked at so many times on the site. Just to back track a bit. The picture of the dog I saw and fell in love with had me a bit worried. Her picture made her look larger than she really is. My only requirements were the dog had to be small enough to fit in a carrier under an airplane set and not be a puppy. Okay back on track, I saw that little face and saw how small she was and was realived. The helper put her in my arms and instantly fell the rest of the way in love. She was a bit nervous which you could imagine after traveling such a journey. We had some time to visit and get to know each other. We were then directed what to do and where to go next. I signed the adoption, paid the rest of the very reasonable fee and registered her microchip. We were then headed fort home. Welsh, her name before adoption was renamed Lily because of a Lily white patch on her neck. As of five weeks she has never went potty in the house, she comes to work with my every day and loves to take walks. That’s also good for me as I had managed to shed 8 lbs. which makes me very happy. Lily is truly a gift from God. We were brought together by some truly wonderful caring people and I can’t say enough about the dedication and true kindness of these wonderful people called MatchDog. Many would say you did a good thing by rescuing a dog in need. The statement is true but I’m no so sure who rescued who. This little wonder I call Lily has helped to fill an empty spot I had in my heart. She is truly a joy and I’m so happy with the adoption experience. I’ll never forget the experience I had and the extraordinary outcome.
We adopted Tully (Tulane) a few weeks ago. He is an adorable pug mix, aprox 1year old. He knows some obedience, is house broken and crate trained. We are taking him to doggy school to finish his training. Our cats have come to like him!
We found Matchdog on Petfinder while searching for our next furbaby. We were accepted as match for our pup. When we got to the landing pad, our pup had gotten sick during the transport so they offered us to look at a few of the other dogs they had... and our new pup found us during this process! We rescued Jagger (FKA Pinto) and we just adore her. Matchdog made the adoption so easy and the staff were amazing. The process took some time but we're so happy for them. Our little girl is the best pup ever! Thank you Matchdog!
My husband and i found matchdogrescue on google last year in August. We had a very positive experience with the volunteers when we were ready to meet our new pet. Everyone was helpful, caring and friendly. I would definitely recommend this non profit org to everyone who wants to adopt a fur baby pet. Thanks to matchdogrescue we found a new family member to add in our home.
My wife and I found on Petfinder a rescue dog at MatchDog Rescue in Nov. 2020. They were very professional throughout the process, and informed us up front the dog had tested positive for heartworm. They explained the success rate of treatment, told us they would pay for all the treatment costs and that they would reimburse us $100 for getting him neutered when appropriate. We adopted him and they did and paid for everything they said they would!! The treatment was as described to us and within 6 months he was heartworm negative and doing zoomies and living his best life. I was so impressed with MatchDog Rescue and the people we dealt with that I decided to volunteer with them. I am now even more impressed with all they do to save vulnerable dogs that no one else will try to help! I have seen amazing recoveries by neglected, injured and abused dogs who through MDR got the care they needed and are now living happily ever after with great families. (There is a separate fb page for MDR Adopters where we all share stories and pictures of our dogs, so we can see the way they blossom) MDR changes humans' lives for the better also, helping them find their newest family member! I have recommended MatchDog Rescue to many family, friends and neighbors - two of my neighbors adopted dogs from MDR and are so thankful to them!
My experience with adoption of my Matchdog was wonderful. The organization is very dedicated to finding the right home for each dog. I adopted my Toby April 2022 and have been volunteering for 1 1/2 yrs now. I would absolutely 100% recommend them to anyone, including family and friends

I found Matchdog Rescue in February 2022 on a local Facebook page. I joined them as a volunteer at that point. I have had nothing but wonderful experiences with them. I adopted my Matchdog in April 2022 and couldn't be any happier with the dog, the experience and the rescue. Very caring, loving people. I recommend Matchdog to anyone looking for their new addition to the family, to volunteer for, whether it be at events or fostering, or both.
I can’t explain how happy I am that I am I ran into Matchdog Rescue I was looking through pet finder and came across a dog that my heart fell for his name was Marley a Chihuahua he happened to be in Matchdog rescue so I filled out the application not thinking much then they reached out and before I knew it I was being contacted for a zoom then another zoom then I was matched with him then the process was quick from there I just had to wait for him to arrive. And yesterday was the big day he is great! He is settling in unbelievably well I just love him already thank you Matchdog Rescue
My recent interaction with MatchDog taught me that all rescues are NOT created equal. The unethical behavior stems directly from the owner who actually lied and hid critical health information about a missing dog, from stating that the dog was adopted (it was not), to failing to disclose and take into consideration the dog's heartworm status while having volunteers chasing it for 10 days (putting the dogs life at risk). This organization is a massive money maker for the owner, who picks up dogs in Mexico and brings them up NJ with heartworm and often distemper. As a 501c3 all financials are published. Read the reviews. Do your research. Avoid MatchDog at all costs.
I am one of the foster homes for MatchDog pups. We've been able to foster ~12 dogs since we signed up, almost a year ago. Becoming a foster has been so rewarding! Some dogs we only had for one night before they were adopted, other dogs we've had for a couple of weeks. It's been so amazing to see the dogs blossom and each one has melted our hearts. Yes, it's nearly impossible to not fall in love with each of them and want to keep them all for ourselves. However, knowing the MatchMakers find such amazing families for the pups makes it a bit easier. The people of this organization are incredibly caring and helpful in every aspect. I'm happy to be a part of it!
We got our pup Mo from Matchdog in July 2021. I thought their website was the best of all the rescues I had been looking at. It had a lot of information and was honest about how hard it is to answer every question via emails, so they had a detailed FAQ section. I loved seeing information about each dog available. Their process to adopt is thorough but worth going to meet with them at adoption events so they get to know you and your family. After we got our pup, I was so impressed that I started to volunteer with Matchdog even though I live about a 90 minute drive away. That was when I really got to see how much good work they do, how much goes into the matching process prior to them placing a dog, and their effort to make sure the dogs are cared for medically. I recommend Matchdog to everyone whose looking for a dog to adopt.
Matchdog Rescue was a great experience for me. I was coming out of a depression after losing my Maltese of 15 years right in the middle of Covid. I thought I would give matchdog a try and hope for the best. They did a thorough interview with me, and I was able to ask them questions about their process. I then met my little fur baby, Luna Grace. The light in my heart returned, and we’ve been inseparable ever since. I follow them on Facebook and watch them Save the lives of so many dogs down south. Thank goodness we have caring organizations like this one.
MatchDog Rescue is AMAZING!!! My family has adopted 2 times with Match. I found the process of adopting with them very seamless. It’s a thorough process however I would want it no other way. The volunteers we have had interactions with have all been so helpful and kind. I suggest MatchDog to anyone looking to adopt a new furbaby. They are experienced, Thorough and a very fair rescue. All things that are very important to me. A+++++ experience for me ❤️❤️
I have been a volunteer with this organization for over 2.5 years. The amount of wonderful dogs that are adopted every 5-6 weeks is inspiring. The attention to health is such an important part of the mission. Any heartworm positive dogs that are adopted are covered for treatments at a local vet. This is something that not many rescues do. The camaraderie between the volunteers is amazing. The founder of the rescue, Kerry is so caring and tireless in her mission of saving dogs. I hope to continue to volunteer for many years to come.
This is a rescue that I have adopted from twice. Such wonderful dogs they have. The veterinary care and socialization they put into every dog is evident. The amount of volunteers that work at their events speaks volumes. I would highly recommend adopting a dog through them.

I adopted a dog from MatchDog 2 years ago and was so impressed with the whole experience that I became a volunteer. It is an amazing team of volunteers who tirelessly give a great deal of time to the mission of rescuing dogs. I have been a volunteer about 1 3/4 years and would highly recommend this organization.
Been volunteering with MatchDog for several years now.... am so proud to be part of such a hardworking and selfless team of volunteers.
This organization goes above and beyond what you should expect from a rescue. They care so much about every pup they are able to save. Matchdog gets these doggies all the medical help they need to thrive and then find loving homes for them. I rescued 2 dogs from them and now I volunteer!
I don’t consider this a nonprofit…I consider it a close knit group of friends and families all working for one common goal - to find forever homes for dogs that deserve a chance at a great life! My children have grown up with many of these volunteers and their children. I truly feel so blessed to be part of this rescue. We have all become better people since starting our volunteer journey with Matchdog Rescue. One of the best decisions of my life.

We've never purchased any of our dogs, they've just always come to us from being in the right place at the right time. Our current dog, though, is the first we've adopted from a rescue and we couldn't be happier that it was with MatchDog Rescue. At the time (2019) we had recently lost a Yorkie and were heartbroken. We were just casually browsing through their adoptable dogs, not really intent on adopting but it was therapeutic to look at all the dogs. There were a couple that caught our interest so we put in an application, including an adorable little Chihuahua named "George Washington" (the event had all the dogs named after presidents). Next thing we knew we were told they matched us to him and were invited to the adoption event to meet him. The procedure back in 2019 was they would pull the dog from the transport, call the name of the adopter(s), and hand the dog over. When they did this with our little guy, the first thing he did was licked my wife's face. We knew at that moment there was no way were leaving without him!
Being fans of Disney movies, we named him "Buzz Lightyear" after one of our favorite characters. He is so much fun! Loves going on hikes, car rides, walks on the beach, or just playing fetch in the back yard. We couldn't have gotten a better little dog for us, the matchmakers really do an amazing job getting the right dog to the right family.
I loved the experience and what the rescue is doing so much that 6 months later I started volunteering with them. Mostly I take pictures at adoption events, but recently we fostered a rescue dog and it went really well! The rescue supplies anything you need, and new fosters have direct contact with a mentor who guides them the whole way. It was a great experience, especially seeing the dog go to their new home!
I can't recommend MatchDog Rescue enough, whether you're looking to adopt or if you'd like to get involved as a volunteer.
Forever grateful for MDR pulling my boy Aqua (now known as Flapjack.) He was sick sick sick. He is down a leg and some enamel, but is smart as whip and is my shadow. MDR contacted me almost right after I put my application for this special little boy, and the process between adoption, surgery, and recovery was seamless. Thank you for saving my best friend. Did I say thank you? Because thank you.
We had a wonderful experience with MatchDog. I was so impressed with how the whole operation was run the day we went to pick up our rescue. They are so thorough and really care about the dogs. The whole process was very organized and went smoothly. You can really tell how much they care about saving animals and finding good homes for them. I highly recommend rescuing a dog from MatchDog!
We are absolutely thrilled with our experience with MatchDog. We didn’t think we could ever successfully rescue because of allergies to certain types of dogs (fur allergies as opposed to being ok with wirehaired digs). We saw a pup on MatchDog who looked wirehaired, and I thought I’d give it a shot, explaining in my application about our allergy concerns.
We were matched with Magpie, and I had an open conversation with Kimberly, our matchmaker volunteer. She was awesome to talk to and we went over some really wonderful details that helped me feel quite certain that Magpie was for us.
On match day we met Magpie as a family and it was love at first sight. The entire process was so seamless, and every single person that we interacted with was an incredible human being.
I will say that this organization truly cares for these animals. We received magpie’s health records once we finalized the adoption and there were no surprises. She had her vaccinations and necessary medicines beginning months prior to our filling out an application - proof that these pups are in great care. I will continue to recommend MatchDog to all of our friends and family.
We adopted Skipper from Matchdog Rescue and we are so happy with the process. The matchmaker, Sue; Kerrie and Jackie and Claire were so friendly and caring and really knew what they were doing. A lot of instructions and texts were given to make sure we knew what to expect. When we met our Skip, we noticed that he had such a perfect temperament and we knew we were well matched.
The rescue staff are such dedicated volunteers and I am grateful for their help in matching me with Skip.
I adopted Flavius a 5 year old Cocker Spaniel today. All the MatchDog Volunteers were caring and courteous. The 2 drivers I met really showed their passion for the dogs one of the drivers was Len. I would like to thank all that worked the event today. Flavius now Charlie fits so well with my family. Thanks again leaving some pics. Taking him the vet Tuesday.
Match Dog Rescue (MDR) connected us with Lizzie in August 2020. We couldn't be happier with our little girl and our experience with MDR!
Working with Match Dog Rescue to get my rescue Mina was a very rewarding experience. They were very thorough in the application process. Everything went smoothly. The were very much focused on the wellbeing and finding a good match for the dogs. Mina is a very happy girl!
We adopted Rosie in March of 2019 and were so impressed with the care, compassion and dedication of the volunteers! They matched us with a pup so loving, sweet and adorable. A month after the adoption we started volunteering with MDR as we were so grateful for Rosie and wanted to be a part of such a wonderful organization. Two years later we have no regrets… we love our time spent with MDR members and time helping to find homes for the pups. And we’re hoping to add another MDR pup someday. Many thanks to MDR for our Rosie. She is truly our sunshine!
I can’t say enough great things about MatchDog. We adopted our Kiwi in October of 2019 and from start to finish it was a well organized life changing experience. From every step of the way the pups were the main priority. It’s an amazing community of like minded individuals. She has been a blessing to us every single day…happy tears that day!!! Forever grateful to MatchDog!!!
If you are looking to adopt the perfect dog, look no further than Match Dog Rescue.
From the application process to keeping everyone updated on the pups’ journey to NJ for adoption day along with a fun FB page to post updates of all the fur babies and their fortunate families, MDR and their caring volunteer staff are simply the very best!
Match Dog is the perfect name for a wonderful organization that truly matches the four-legged friends to the perfect furever family and home. Cedar is the perfect pup for me and has fit right in with all of my family!
Kudos to everyone at MDR! 5 stars plus!!!!
I lost my precious girl that I'd rescued 11 years ago and was looking for a new pup to fill my life with dog-happiness & love. I found the perfect pup for me on MatchDog. They were so helpful with the whole process and so many questions I had about the health of the animals they rescue. If they hadn't been so responsive, I wouldn't have felt confident to adopt from a non-local rescue. Nugget is the perfect dog for us and I'm so thankful to MatchDog for caring so much about the animals and the home in which they end up. They helped out so much with the initial vet and neuter costs as well.
We adopted our sweet girl Shiloh (fka Cawfee) from MDR on 8/14/21! We feel so fortunate to have found this beautiful baby on the MDR page and to have been chosen to be her forever family!!! Everyone at MDR was so helpful: from filling out the application to picking up our precious girl and after we brought her home! They were always available to answer any questions we had! We are so grateful to MDR for saving her and allowing us to fill our hearts and home with the happiness and love we had been missing, since the passing of our last furbaby.
We are so pleased with Matchdog rescue. I was approved with 3 rescues before going with Matchdog. They were the only ones who not only were looking for the perfect home for their dogs but also went over and above considering my wants and lifestyle. And did so perfectly. I cannot begin to count how many people have said she is the perfect dog for me. Including me!
My girl, miss Daisy Mae ( Ellie’s Pups 11/16/19 )
I was lucky enough to adopt a puppy from MatchDog. The process was amazing and our Maisy has brought so much love and joy into our home. We were so impressed with
MatchDog rescue and that now I am a volunteer.
Some people have been Blessed once but thanks to MDR our 2 Furbabies adopted us in 2020 and we were double Blessed. Orion came into our lives in August and his Fursister, Gatsby, joined our family in October. MDR was so caring, informative and helped us through the adoption process. We will definitely reach out to this Group again in the future to love another dog and give them a Furever family and home.
This was my first time adopting a puppy and though I was nervous about the process, MatchDog was thorough and communicated clearly through their organized process and made me feel confident that all was well and they were choosing the right match for my family. We couldn’t be happier with our pup who we’ve had now for 2.5months.
We adopted a dog almost a year ago from Matchdog. This was my 1st experience ever adopting. I was so impressed We adopted a 2nd pup a few months later. Matchdog is a wonderful rescue with amazing volunteers whom are with you every step of the way. I can't say enough good about MDR.
My family fell in love with and adopter two of our fosters. We have fostered many dogs for Matchdog Rescue. The experience is amazing! If you’ve ever thought about fostering go to the website and complete an application. It’s such a rewarding experience!
I adopted my dog, Bree, from MatchDog Rescue. The whole adoption process was truly amazing. Bree was saved by MDR from a high kill shelter in Texas. She was terrified and cowered in the corner at the shelter. Seeing the pictures broke my heart. It was so exciting when the transport was on the way to New Jersey from Texas with the dogs and we were able to keep informed with their journey. The day of transport is a day I will always remember. Holding Bree for the first time and seeing all the dogs that were saved brought tears to my eyes. The volunteers have the biggest hearts, so full of love for these dogs. They work tirelessly from beginning to end to find these dogs their perfect match. MDR has made our hearts SO happy. I will forever be thankful to MDR for saving Bree and bringing her into my life.
Matchdog brought us our sweet Ember Jade. We'd be lost without her. They were great to work with. They covered all of their bases and it feels like they really do match each dog to their family. They do so much for so many helpless dogs and work so hard to continue rescuing. I also really appreciate how they bring adopters together. It's great to see all of the families that have been created ♡ all thanks to MATCHDOG-RESCUE.
My family and I have volunteered and fostered with MDR for alittle over three years. It all began when my oldest daughter begged us to start fostering and we stumbled upon one of their Marlton events. Given my own fear of dogs, this was not a venture I was jumping through hoops to partake, but boy am I glad I let those fears subside. We have had the pleasure of fostering so many dogs of a numerous ages, and it was just so easy to fall in love with every single one of them. MDR has made my children feel valued as volunteers which is something we have wanted to do as a family for a while. Teaching our children the joys of animals, and being a direct part of the process is a gift we are grateful MDR has provided them.
Our family of four has volunteered for MatchDog Rescue for 3 years. Over that period of time we have fostered 48 dogs and have been apart of the adoption process for thousands more. This organization looks at all it's volunteers (Jr volunteers ) as assets. MDR has given our two teenage daughters the opportunity to be a vital cog in the intricate process of saving dogs from high kill shelters in Texas. Matchdog was so welcoming and allowed our family to volunteer together which has been a blessing where many other organizations looked at our young kids as a liability. Whether working behind the scenes or at the events It has allowed our family to meet so many wonderful people and save dogs lives. The reason this organization has exponentially grown over the period of time that we've been apart of it is because all the volunteers know that one person started this organization but we run it. As a volunteer for MDR, the feeling that you're apart of something greater than yourself is palpable. As a dedicated volunteer, we have given more hours of our time than we can count and believe that our sweat and tears are truly helping dogs live the life that they deserve. We believe that the bones of this organization are top-notch and will continue to share our experience with others to help this organization grow!
MatchDog Rescue introduced me to the current love of my life. He may be short and hairy, but he's a great kisser. MDR was upfront with Edisons special needs, had him checked out immediately by their own veterinarian and were SO very attentive to his Hydrocephalus condition. His foster mom was a huge, integral part of his process. I am told by Eddys neurologist that, had the MDR team not been diligent and forthcoming with his diagnosis, more complications could have resulted. Because of their dedication and selflessness (to ALL the animals in their care), Edison is thriving. And we could not THANK YOU enough.
I cannot say enough about the professionalism of Matchdogrescue.org. I applied to adopt a dog, solely based on their picture and description of Daebak, formerly known as Calix. I knew I wanted a Shih Tzu, and had applied to multiple rescues who never replied back MDR not only responded, they answered all my questions, accommodated my work schedule for my interview and I got the dog of my dreams! The pickup was well organized, and speedy! I got my professional picture of Daebak and was on my way home! Great rescue organization!
In April of 2021 we decided to add another member to our family and Match Dog Rescue helped us in finding Bella Luna Previousy Batat, we couldnt be more please with our choice and all the help we received from Match Dog Rescue in processing all the paperwork, they keep us informed on everything , the progress day by day of Bella and were more than helpful in the process .
There is no doubt that when the time comes for us to adopt again Match Dog Rescue will be our first and only choice
We adopted our pup from MDR last spring and could not have had a better experience! They helped match us with the perfect dog for our lifestyle. Because of this, we can see every day that our dog is living his best possible life with us!
The volunteers from MDR were always so responsive, supportive and caring from the application process through adoption and even now, over a year after the adoption happened.
We recommend MDR to everyone looking to add a dog to their lives!
We adopted our MatchDog three years ago. She came fully vetted, her temperament was assessed, and she was, and remains, a perfect match for our family. I recommend MatchDog to anyone who is looking to adopt a dog from a rescue that knows how to pair puppies with people with beautiful accuracy.
I was looking for a dog for a while in 2019 when I stumbled upon matchdog. I put in a few applications and within a few days I got the dog I so desperately needed. He’s 2 years old now and just the happiest little guy ever. They do such great work and for my birthday I even did a fundraiser for them to show how much I appreciate all their hard work and efforts. Without them I wouldn’t have my little boy Austin Who I love with the entirety of my heart. My next dog will 100% be from matchdog because I believe in everything they do and are going to do in the future.
We adopted Cane from this rescue on 06/09/21. He had seizures and tests confirmed he had distemper. He had no fighting chance against this deadly disease, and he was humanely euthanized by our ER vet on 06/22/21. We had him for 13 days.
When I looked closer into this organization and their adoption process, what I've uncovered is alarming. They pull dogs from TX, an area where distemper is endemic. Yet, they do not properly quarantine, vaccinate, or thoroughly vet their dogs before transport and adoption. Our case is not unique to us as we've discovered other families that have also adopted dogs with distemper, at different time points. This is an indication that it is a recurring issue. Instead of listening to the concerns of the adopters and re-assessing their operational procedures, they chose to delete and block anyone from providing honest comments and feedback about their organization.
Our dog was picked up as a stray on 05/22. Vaccinated with the first dose on 05/24. Arrived in NJ on 05/29. He was quarantined in TX at most for 3-4 days before he was transported with other dogs. Post vaccination, it takes a minimum of 14 days to build immunity. With little to no protection from the first dose of vaccine, multiple dogs are then crammed together for transport. The result is sick and dead dogs.
MDR gave an interview on 09/24/19 stating that they have the dogs for about 1 month before transport to NJ (https://www.courierpostonline.com/story/news/local/south-jersey/2019/09/24/matchdog-rescue-matches-dogs-their-forever-homes/2366734001). Our dog was transported to NJ in 3-4 days post first dose of vaccination. Not all rescues have the welfare of the animals in their best interest.
