Is a not for profit 140 bed community hospital in the city of northampton massachusetts, serving the counties of franklin, hampden, hampshire, and others in western massachusetts. It is fully accredited by the joint commission. Medical services at the hospital include: emergency, medical, cardiac care, cancer care, childbirth, women's health, diagnostic imaging services, behavioral health, rehabilitation, and outpatient services. Cdh provides medical and hospital services for the sick and disabled of any race, creed, color, nationality, gender, gender identity, and sexual identity regardless of an individual's ability to pay. In 2013 the hospital provided over $7. 5 million dollars in the form of free medical care. During the last year cooley dickinson hospital assisted uninsured and underinsured patients with facilitating access to health care services. The hospital provides medical interpreter services and has a number of projects where data is collected on race, ethnicity, and language to improve patient care and achieve health equity. Cooley dickinson hospital provides leadership to communities in the hampshire county area to assess health needs, resources, and gaps in services and to promote health access for vulnerable populations. The hospital provides a full range of hospital services. Community programs include health screening and support groups, health education programs, behavioral health services, hiv/aids care and support, and other free clinical services. Cooley dickinson hospital serves approximately 9,300 medical and surgical patients annually, 3,500 patients underwent outpatient surgery. Outpatient visits include 35,000 visits to the emergency department. As of september 30, 2013, cdh medical staff consisted of 536 practicing physicians and dentists, of whom 260 are members of the active and associate staffs. (140 beds)
