Mission: The MAAHC, founded in 1998, grew out of the need to preserve and share the rich history of Maryland African Americans. From Frederick Douglass to Benjamin Carson, the MAAHC will tell the untold story of African American resilience and accomplishment. Seeking to inspire each one of our visitors to contribute to our future, the MAAHC will transcend mere historical accounts and artifacts, and become a living center of culture and change.
