I have been working with MDF for over 4 years and have watched the organization transform under the new leadership, dramatically improving and expanding their work educating girls and providing skills training for women in very remote, vulnerable areas of Pakistan.
Their unique approach only permits school enrollment for boys if their sisters are enrolled first. This has raised respect and appreciation for girls/women's contributions in their communities. Their work has also resulted in delaying over 100 child marriages in the communities and decreasing the prevalence of child labor.

Marshall Direct Fund's holistic approach to a very complicated, multi-dimensional and dangerous situation is one that is truly impacting the lives of women and girls in Pakistan. What makes this organization so effective is its commitment to developing programs that meet the specific needs of the communities they serve and making sure local Pakistanis invested in empowering girls and women are running those programs.
Very inspirational work for the betterment and education of all women and children in Pakistan so as to diminish the power of the Taliban and other forces to take them and recruit them due to lack of education.
Great nonprofit with a strong focus on building gender equity. A women led local ngo in country and the USA. Efficient use of funds- they’re not building schools but using local structures and investing in teachers. For business training- with a focus on building community from within- starting with schools and moving out to women. Gaining acceptance and understanding of men and engaging local leaders.
I joined Marshall Direct Fund in May and have been impressed with the strength of the program on the ground! It is led by strong, local women who believe in their communities. MDF focuses on girls but works towards gender equity where all boys can attend school as long as their sisters are enrolled and attending first!
Marshall Direct Fund is one of the most necessary non profits during these desperate times of terrorism. The only way to make a change is to educate the young and that is exactly what this nonprofit does through education in Pakistan!

The Marshall Direct Fund is one of my favorite non-profits to donate to. The money goes directly to the children and schools! Marshall direct fun is not a brick and mortar group that builds schools. They use their resources more wisely by finding facilities that are currently built that can be used as schools so that their funds will go further. The funds go towards teachers salaries, school supplies and books, one outfit per child and this may be their only form of clothing, and a meal. The Marshall Direct Fund also supports women in business by teaching them to run a business on their own. I would highly recommend that anyone who has a dollar to spare, donate to this incredible cause in order to educate children in Pakistan and support women in business in conflict nations. The only way to end terrorism is through education and financial health of women and children who are targets of these extreme organizations.
This is an amazing organization that provides holistic community empowerment and education in especially impoverished/disadvantaged regions of Pakistan via primary education for children and vocational business training for women. Because the organization is small, programatic instead of brick and mortar and hyper focused, most of the money raised goes to directly to the cause rather than overhead. I highly recommend giving to this cause, if you want to know exactly where your money is going and see the impacts!
MDF is simply awesome! We educate children, that otherwise would not have access to educational opportunities, in their native language in Pakistan. This helps get children out of poverty and helps prevent them from getting involved in destitute situations which can breed terrorism.
I have donated and done volunteer efforts with MDF for over 5 years. The staff is amazing and believe in the work they are doing. I have had many heartfelt experiences seeing the results of their work and the positive impact it has on these children in Pakistan. I feel great knowing that the money they raise is used effectively and directly to create a future for these lives. My contribution makes me feel like I have made a difference.
I believe so passionately in Marshall Direct Fund's Mission and Approach that I decided to donate a portion of the proceeds of my business to their organization. They are not only making an impact in communities in Pakistan, they are making huge strides in raising awareness in the U.S. about education's role in ending poverty, conflict and the oppression of women and girls.
I'm excited to support the Marshall Direct Fund and their work to educate girls in Pakistan -- critical to making the world a better place.
Marshall Direct Fund inspired me to support their work with my time and my money because it is an organization dedicated to maximizing the impact of every dollar spent. Send a girl to school; improve national security at home and abroad. Give a woman vocational training; stabilize our global economy. Invest in human capital over brick and mortar; watch the value of every dollar spent exponentially increase in its impact. Empower people to help themselves with an initial investment in an equally accessible infrastructure for boys and girls, men and women; establish sustainable, self-perpetuating mechanisms for social progress. Pakistan is predicted to have the 6th-largest population in the world by 2030. Investing today to build stability in the region tomorrow is the single best way to both lift up women and children economically and socially and simultaneously address global security concerns.
The Marshall Direct Fund changes the lives of woman and children in Pakistan by striving to end poverty and conflict and invest in education. MDF is run by a committed group of people and I've been impressed with their dedication to bettering the lives of others.
I donated pro bono graphic design work to the Marshall Direct Fund. The staff is very thoughtful about the work the organization does and possesses professional backgrounds and educations that are highly relevant to the work. These relevant backgrounds help ensure that the Marshall Direct Fund's work is culturally sensitive, includes all stakeholders and is ultimately successful for the populations it works with. They are a great, nimble, thoughtful organization working to empower women marginalized by challenging conditions.
Marshall Direct Fund is an amazing organization—love its focus, approach and effectiveness. I wish every nonprofit could be so thoughtful!
I've volunteered with Marshall Direct Fund's annual reception for the past two years and have been quite honored to do so. The work they do is unparalleled in terms of assisting Pakistan's women in gaining economic security , and the management team is dedicated to the cause of empowering communities. A+++!!!
I was looking for a local non-profit that had an international outreach while still providing benefits to the Roaring Fork Valley. MDF does just that through the Global Kid Connect. Knowing that my support of this non-profit helps to bridge cultures from afar in the Middle East with children in the United States, provides a fulfilling mission and a cause that I am proud to be part of.
Interning for the Marshall Direct Fund has been a very rewarding experience. It's a pleasure to learn from a staff and board that clearly care so much about the organization's mission, while also offering real opportunities to expand my abilities and skill set. MDF's methodology of expanding education, creating opportunities for cross-cultural understanding, as well as providing vocational training, for their beneficiaries in Pakistan is also something I'm proud to support!
I've watched with amazement as Silbi transformed her inner passion into an effective organization of hope and change. She's grown MDF at a bewildering pace, marshaling the resources, goodwill, and enlightenment of so many like-minded people who seek a better world. Silbi and MDF are true inspirations to me, and I'm proud to endorse them.
I am so impressed by the effectiveness of the Marshall Direct Fund. MDF truly understands the value of working in partnership with the people of Pakistan, and by doing so, goes directly to the places where they can make the biggest difference. MDF's female leadership opens doors into the world of women in Pakistan, and provides inspiring leadership atypical of other ngo's working in this arena.
It is incredible to have been introduced to this wonderful cause. Knowing that my money will go towards positively impacting these children is a reward words cannot express.
Silbi has the clarity of purpose and the will to carry forward the educational goals for the children. It is with gratitude I acknowledge this and it is with pleasure I support the efforts.
It feels good to have a charity to donate to that is making a real difference, not just to the lives of the children that fill the schools but to every person that child will come into contact with. This charity is truly working to make our world a safer place. I feel confident that my money is going to a charity run by people with integrity, who have a great deal of knowledge and expertise in the culture and beliefs of the people they want to help. They understand that it is education that brings about positive change and democracy not violence, and they know how to do that whilst still enabling and respecting a child’s pride in their own culture and beliefs.
To have your vision clear and robust, and follow it with dignity and dedication is what embodies the President of MDF's character. This organization is literally, with their bare hands, building schools in areas, which the Government of Pakistan has not even reached, or thought of. With ample issues at hand, suffice to say, MDF is doing a most brilliant and effective job of offering poverty stricken youth with an avenue to learn and build a bridge over troubled waters for themselves. Achieving education equity can also be acquired by increasing access and enrollment in schools, MDF's hearty and productive approach by doing just that is commendable.
I agree 100% with the Pakistani Ambassador to the USA, His Excellency Husain Haqqani, that the Marshall Direct Fund is doing exactly what needs to be done to bring our people and our countries closer together -- and that there is a great need for this highly effective effort to be multiplied thousands of times. That's one reason I've already donated thousands of dollars to Marshall Direct Fund (MDF), which is even more than I have recently donated to other worthy causes such as Mercy Corps, Voices for Children, YWCA, CAI, etc. Those other worthy causes already have long lists of generous donors, and I am confident that their good works will continue to receive generous support. However, as a relatively new organization, MDF still has a long ways to go in attracting the donations it needs to bring the benefits of its expertise to so many more children and parents in need.
i have worked with MDF for over two years and have never had a more pleasant and rewarding work experience. the volunteer team is incredible, silbi is an amazing manager and visionary (traits not often found together), and the field office team is hard working, trust worthy, and incredibly capable. after visiting the schools in Pakistan i can say without a doubt that MDF is making a huge impact on the lives of these students and their families. given how young this organization is, so much has already been accomplished. i wholeheartedly believe it's better to start small and do it right than try and scale too large too quickly like many other organizations. can't say enough about MDF.
I worked with the Marshall Direct Fund as a Program Assistant intern for approximately six months in the winter of 2009-10 and spring of 2010. Specifically, I was responsible for developing a social networking presence for the organization, creating and developing a blog for the site's webpage, and managing communications with MDF supporters. Because this is such an important issues, I was thrilled to help expand the visibility and impact of the organization and their mission.
