As a volunteer with Marley's Mutts I am able to see first hand how dedicated this organization is to helping animals. The entire staff is passionate, conscientious, and diligent in their efforts to provide loving homes to the animals in their care. It is inspiring to be a volunteer for them and see how devoted they are to what they do.

My first encounter with Marley's Mutts was meeting Josh when I went to the ranch to pick up a hat my daughter had ordered. As we talked, I heard and felt the passion he had for the dogs, the ranch and it's mission. I was so touched by his enthusiasm that I went home and filled out an application to volunteer. I have to say, it was the best thing I have done.
I am grateful for being a small part of a team of volunteers at the ranch that are so dedicated and committed to giving the animals a second chance at a better life through caring, kindness and love. The whole atmosphere at Marley's is truly amazing.
And for me it all started with a hat.
Thank you Marley's Mutts!

Marley's Mutts is a first class organization. It is filled with the hardest working people I know. They have a heart and love for rescued dogs (and all animals) that shows in their everyday care. They help to rehabilitate them in everyway imaginable. From medical needs to emotional needs Marley's Mutts gives 100% to each and every animal on their ranch and help to find their forever homes. I could not be more proud to be a Marley's Mutts volunteer!

I’m an active member and a follower of Marley’s Mutts Dog Rescue for over eight years. I also adopted a precious rescue dog from them five years ago. Her name is Sophie. MM’s mission is to rescue these broken, homeless and abandoned dogs and place them in loving homes. Zach and his team of workers and volunteers are dedicated and fiercely tenacious in achieving this goal. This organization is absolutely AWESOME!! ❤️

I have been an active member of ‘Marley’s Mutts Dog Rescue’ for about six years now. I’ve known Zack Skow’s incredible back story since I first heard about his dog rescue organization.
Three years ago, I drove all the way up to Bakersfield from San Diego in order to adopt my precious pup who at barely two months old, was running wild in the hot streets of that city. Marley's Mutts Dog Rescue had found and rescued her and her two siblings. Zach is truly an champion of God sent to earth to save these damaged and throw away dogs. This is truly an organization worth joining and supporting.

My name is Tod,I am a member of Marleys Mutts by way of the positive change dog program in California city. Marleys Mutts would bring in hard to place dogs and we would train them. I spent two years in this program and learned so much about myself and about dogs. I have since gotten out of prison and I’ve started my own Dog Training business here in Oregon. I am so grateful and thankful and humbled by all the help and support I still receive from Marleys Mutts. They not only save Dog‘s lives, they have also saved mine. I am so happy in life right now, life is good.

I became involved with Marley's Mutts when my dog, Echo, passed away and I went to the Marley's Mutts ranch to donate his cart (he had degenerative myelopathy). Within days I saw Echo's cart being put to use with another dog that needed it. This dog, Naaji, continues to thrive using Echo's cart. From there I witnessed, first hand, how this Organization is dedicated to helping all types of dogs (and other animals) that are in need. Within months after volunteering, I was asked to be a member of the Board of Directors, and have never looked back. I love all of the work that everyone involved does, and hope we can continue and expand all of the work well into the future.

In 2015, I viewed a video on Facebook about a dog who had been physically abused. Hooch was a pit bull who had his tongue yanked out of mouth and had not eaten or drunk water for several weeks. Zach Skow nursed him back to health with love and compassion. That day I became a monthly donor to Marley's Mutts. Marley's Mutts Militia numbers in the thousands now. Marley’s Mutts is so much more than a dog rescue! This organization has a wonderful therapy dog program that services multiple organizations including libraries, recovery groups, and senior centers. Marley’s Mutts has also created the Pawsitive Change program that places shelter dogs in a number of area prisons and teaches selected inmates how to train the dogs in obedience. This gives both the inmates and the shelter dogs a second chance at a better life. Marley’s Mutts also does a terrific job of rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming many seriously injured and abused dogs. This is one of the most proactive, productive, and positive nonprofits out there!

I’ve been watching Marleys Mutts for years on facebook never thinking I’d be in a position to adopt one of their dogs because I’m in Idaho. Then I saw Sid and knew he was for me because of his special needs. I was in California visiting my mom and coordinated with Sids foster mom to get him after a lengthy application and phone calls. I drove 3 hours to Bakersfield to pick him up. I absolutely adore my Siddy.
This organization has gone from one guy and his dog to hundreds of adoptions, training, prison programs, youth and school programs, a place for older dogs and now expanding to horses. Zach Scow and his people are an amazing group of giving people dedicated to animals who have no voice and people who are in need. I wish the work they do could be expanded nationwide.

We adopted a senior dog, Libby, about 2 weeks ago. It's hard to explain what a difference this girl has made in our lives (my husband and I are both retired). We so love her! The adoption process was smooth and everyone at the event on August 25th was so helpful. We had a visit from Emma with some paperwork for Libby a few days afterward and answered a lot of our questions.

I have been following Marley's Mutts Dog Rescue on Facebook for 3+ years on Facebook. I love what they do. I love their prison program, where inmates are tasked with rehabilitating dogs so they can get adopted. I love how Zach invests his heart into every dog, every person and every project.
A few years ago Zach was invited to visit a shelter in Romania. He took time out of his always busy schedule to accompany Tom, a young man from Belgium with a heart for dog rescue in Romania, to visit a shelter in Deva. He posted several videos of his trip there, documenting the enormous stray dog problem in that country and the desperate plight of animal shelters. As a result, I became a regular financial contributor to the Deva shelter and have developed a relationship with some of rescuers. I hope to be able to visit them someday.

Marley's Mutts saved our dog from China. They fostered her for 3 months, then enrolled her in Pawsitive paws, an awesome prison program where inmates get to train pups. I filled out a questionnaire, and she was a perfect match. It has been 10 months since we adopted her. There were some trust issues at first, but patience and love won out. She is an amazing dog and I can't thank Marley's Mutts enough for the work they do.

Hi, I love dogs and started following Marley's Mutts a few years ago. I loved how they helped dogs and rescued dogs. I followed the stories of the different rescues and loved this organization even more. When we lost our 13 year old dog in 2015, I was sure I was not going to get another. It breaks your heart when they pass away. But 6 months later I watch this old senior dog that Marley's Mutts had rescued. I watched how no seems interested in adopting him, probably because he was 11 years old. Well, I put in my application. I liked that they completely checked out my husband and I and also our house before we could be considered. We did get to adopt Murray and the whole procedure was wonderful for us and for Murray. This organization does so many wonderful things for their rescues. I wish I lived closer so I could volunteer. Best organization ever!! Thank you Marley's Mutts for all you do for the animals and the people in your organization.

I first learned of Marley's Mutts Dog Rescue , when a posts showed up on my FB feed. I have many rescues on my page. I began following Marley's Mutts, as their concept of animal rescue was interesting to me. After following them for over a year, I am so impressed with their program. The rescue of dogs almost no one wants to care for! The prison program and community involvement are amazing. I have rarely heard of a group of people as dedicated to animals and humans as these folks are. The financial, bureaucratic and public relations challenges they face daily, are met with passion , determinations and a "no such word as NO"! attitude. I will do my best to always support the warriors and I hope others do as well !! Thank you, Marley's Militia

My name is Jassmine I've been with Marley's Mutts for 6 yrs I have fostered over 100 dogs puppies seniors and the special needs. I own Minnie Marvel's sober livings in Kern county and have Incorporated a Foster program at 3 of my homes the clients come from all walks of life along with the clients staying clean and sober throughout there stay most clients come in the program lacking empathy.unconditiinal love and responsibility. Clients choose if the want to help foster a dog or puppies it a great opportunity that let's the women learn basic tranning for the dogs and resposibility and receive unconditional love. At the end of 90 days when the women complete they get a certificate that says they participated in the Marleys Mutts Foster program and the clients beam with an accomplishment and show off pictures and the certification. It also teaches the women to socialize with people it give them a sense of belonging to something. The Miracle Mutts also do temperament testing at our Lilac Location and the ladies also participate in this educational part of Marley's Mutts. The best part of this is the dogs that do get fostered at our programs useally have 3-5 foster Mom's. And the children at the program also participate with socializeing the dogs. At present Minnie Marvel's is Fostering 8 puppies. One adult. There is also a forever program. I have a forever foster Queennie who is almost 16 yrs old she will be with me till the end. The Pawsative Change program is near and dear to my heart am an excon and in recovery with 20 yrs clean. Thank You Marley's Mutts.

I adopted a dog named Maple back in April of this year (2018). If it was not for this rescue going to the shelter to pick up a dog that was brutally mauled and would have died if not for a rescue she would not be here today. Marley's Mutts is not afraid to take on the tough cases and have this ability to work miracles at healing them and getting the dogs adopted. Their fosters are incredible and their backing (Mutt Militia) steps up time and time again. I lived over 400 miles away and when I was accepted to adopt Maple they did not hesitate in working with my schedule to get down there to meet her and bring this incredible girl home. They are supportive, follow through on check ups and are always there to help. I speak highly of this rescue to everyone that I know and encourage people to adopt from them if a dog speaks to them through a photo. I have nothing but praise for Zach, Randi and all the other people who make this rescue the best in the nation, if not the world.

I have been volunteering with Marleys Mutts dog rescue for over a year. And every day they amaze me. I am most proud of the Pawsitive Change program. we team up death row dogs with inmates. The inmates are responsible for the dogs care and rehabilitating them into dogs that can be adopted into their forever homes. And in at the same time it is forcing the inmates to open out their hearts to both the dogs and to themselves and their fellow inmates. These people will be returning to society and we want them to have the tools to cope with reality, have a confidence about them that they may not of had when they went in. and a employable trade. But these programs come outta the donations we get. Next is our hospice dogs, our camp golden years dogs. Dogs that are in their final chapter of their lives and we say. "come live out your life with us." No dog should die in the shelter, NONE.We have Miracle Mutts that go to schools, retirement homes, hospitals , colleges to give what i call "Fur Therapy." They are amazing and we rely mostly on donations of the loving public.

I had been following Marleys Mutts for a bit. I started volunteering this year. they are an amazing group of people from all walks of life. I have seen and learned so much. they are doing things that are so much bigger than themselves. One of the many amazing things they do in a long list of incredible things... They rescue dogs that they know may only have a day or may have a month to live and they make sure the dogs goes over the rainbow bridge full of love and kindness. to give a dying animal a bucket list day and to allow your feelings to be expressed on the videos they make is so beyond amazing to me. they have truly helped me be a better version of myself. the integrity of each person in this rescue is ...like they will never know how many people and dogs they have changed with their kindness.

Marley's Mutts is one of the finest rescues I have ever followed and donated to....the team is so genuine and thinks outside of the box in creative ways to get overlooked "mutts" their forever homes. Live videos bring the viewer into the real life stories of often overlooked dogs that turn out to be champions...be it as therapy dogs, companions, or as part of healing for veterans and even prisoners on their way to trying to make a new commitment to a meaningful life. Real people, real dogs, real stories with follow up for those that care. Marley's Mutts makes a difference which leads to as many success stories as you will find out there. Founder Zack Skow is a true hero for our four-legged and two-legged friends alike...the formerly discarded become treasured. We discover the "mutt" in ourselves and realize we make the best beings!

This animal rescue org. goes above and beyond to help rescue dogs . Now with their #Pawspostivechange program with the inmates is just to awesome. They take in dogs that would otherwise be put down due to missing limps or they are dogs that are seen as unadoptable. They rehab. them and find forever homes for them...Marley's Mutts Dog Rescue is AWESOME...

I live in Oklahoma, so I haven't had personal contact with Marley's Mutts, but have followed their page on Facebook for a couple years now. They work so hard, not just to rescue animals , many of which would be deemed beyond help, but in outreach programs. I'm a huge fan of their work, and if I lived nearby, I would be very proud to be a part of this wonderful organization.

There are several nonprofits that support rescue animals that I follow closely and they each have a special place in our communities. If I were limited to one, and I have thought about this before, I would follow Marley's Mutts Dog Rescue and, if I still lived in California, I would move myself closer to Tehachapi so I could be personally involved with this organization. They have great heart, they are brave, they look for and embrace the most difficult challenges, they are smart and resourceful, and they feel every dog is worth fighting for. They stand for all the good this world needs.

I have yet to visit Marley's Mutts as it is a few hours south of me. However, I contribute a monthly donation because I love and believe in everything they do. Their devotion and love for the beautiful animals that would be considered the downtrodden and misfits of doggy society is just something of which I am in awe. Zach Skow, taking his own challenges as a human being, and turning that into a mission and vision for dogs is nothing short of inspirational. AND it does not stop there. The recent drive of 22 FOR 22 to bring awareness to suicide rates among veterans, the Positive Change prison program, the efforts to help a homeless individual and his dog. It is all just amazing. The team at Marley's and the wonderful fosters who help them out are true heroes to me. There are just not enough words to sing their praises. Thank you for you kindness, generosity and devotion. Dash and Blue send their thanks also. All my best, Kim Slavan

Marley's Mutts is a fabulous organization, saving dogs so dogs can save humans. They have an amazing network of fosters who nurture rescued dogs so that they can become beloved pets. Their outreach in their area ranges from spay/neuter clinics to therapy dogs to a 'read to a dog' program, to a prison dog-training program, and probably some other programs I'm forgetting. But their impact is felt far beyond the Bakersfield area - they've cooperated with dog rescues in Thailand and provided foster and an adoption for an Iranian dog as well. And their internet impact is amazing. They've got over a half-million likes for their Facebook page, and over a million and a half viewings on YouTube. Dog Boy Zach and the talented and awesome men and women who run Marley's Mutts are nothing short of heroes, both to the dogs they've rescued, and to the people who have loved and been rescued by those dogs.

I accidentally found Marley's Mutts Rescue on Facebook, and I had never really paid attention to rescues. But seeing what this group of ppl do day and day out, has changed my way of thinking, and made me want to go back to school to be a vet tech, and then go help a rescue. They go way above and beyond normal rescues. They not only help stray dogs, they help ppl in recovery, giving them a trade, they help children by having their dogs there to read to. They have started a prison program, and now some of these men have a trade to fall back on. And they have saved dogs from being eaten in eastern countries!

I have been involved with Marleys Mutts for a few years now. I follow the stories of these dogs that have been mistreated in the most horrible situations and you think, how could they possibly recover? Zach Skow is the answer and his amazing staff, foster parents and of course his mutt militia (which I am very proud to be part of). Marleys Mutts takes in the dogs nobody else wants and rehabilitates them. These throw away dogs as some people call them :(. These dogs are carefully evaluated and then the real work begins. I truly believe that Zach is the true dog whisperer. If you watch his videos and how he interacts with these amazingly fragile and shut down dogs, you will then understand how important this organization is. They take it several steps further by having prisoners rehab and learn how to love not only themselves, but the dogs they bond with. Children who are afraid of reading out loud because someone made fun of them...they read to these beautiful dogs with all love and no pressure. They help train dogs for veterans who come home from war with ptsd. The dogs are used for so many wonderful programs. The women's shelter. It goes on and on and every week it seems they come up with another way to save dogs and dogs saving people. Just having a dog around you makes you smile. This is why I think programs like this should be across the USA . Look at the difference one organization can do. Imagine if they all used Zachs methods and ideas. Zachs story in itself is amazing. The will to survive just like his precious pooches. Every single person associated with Marleys Mutts should be proud of what they have accomplished. With lots of love care and patience and a dedication to these dogs is beyond words. If I could. I'd move to CA and join their team. Imagine going to work every day with all that LOVE surrounding you? I can't think of a better way to live your life. That is really living out loud ❤️

I had a beautiful fur baby named Marley; she was my best friend and my little girl; unfortunately a woman that was late to work, ran her over with her SUB; she didn't even stop. I had to pick up Marley from the pavement.
this happened on 3/28/2015. I rushed Marley to a veterinarian, but she died in my arms on the way there.
I have been devastated ever since. Just the other day, I saw some of the work that Marley's Mutts has done on facebook, and I was delighted; not only do they help american homeless dogs, but they are also helping Korean dogs that are victims of the cruel, infamous dog and cat meat trade. I'm very aware of the suffering and anguish those poor animals endure, and I try to also do my part, as a member of the Humane society International and Soy dog International; however, Marley's Mutts is Special to me. I feel that Marley (my little girl ), is also helping these poor souls find loving owners and forever homes. Every time I hear the name " "Marley's Mutts"; I remember her abundant, warm kisses, and I feel her presence. RIP my little girl Marley....I shall never forget you

They seem to provide a very valuable community service. Love the pics of how dogs that were injured, unwanted and damaged are cared for and restored.

The group is picky about which dogs they take and where they source them. This leaves out needier dogs who may not be as cute, have a much personality, lack a heartwarming and compelling back story, etc and I think that this organization needs to step up to the plate for truly unwanted dogs, also, that they do not consider now, but are potentially adoptable dogs too.

I do not having any direct contact with the organization; my main contact with them is thru Amazon with the list of doggy items that they post as needed. I do follow the organization in Facebook and check for available adoptions for a new 4 legged family member to be a "brother" to our 1.5 yo Malinois, dearly loved and very much part of our family.

I am happy to donate through Amazon when able but struck by the fact that although Josh lauds the volunteers who foster the critters and lauds the hands on volunteers and staff at Marley's Mutts and community businesses that support the Mutts, he never once has posted, that I have seen, a "thank you" to the anonymous folks who provide equipment contributions through our Amazon accounts.

In the scheme of running a non profit rescue organization, thanking everyone may be small potatoes; for the dogs they do rescue, they do a magnificent job restoring them to best health possible and preparing them for forever homes, as they tell it on Facebook and their website.

I think this organization is a young one, worthy of consideration for support and still maturing; as long as they hold the dogs as central focus and not material gain (e.g., develop into a non-profit that puts 85-90% of donations directly toward dog services), Marley's Mutts will do great things for unwanted dogs to help them find forever homes, and be a very respected member, nationally, when non-profit organizations are ranked for donations/services percentages.

Many animals are found straying and in other cases owners hand in their pets to a Rescue Society in the hope that a good home can be found for them. Unfortunately many of these Rescue Centres make little attempt to find new homes and the animals are put to death after a very short time, sometimes just a few days. Please help a Rescue Centre, Marley's Mutts Dog Rescue who do rehome the pets and who do not kill them. They are desperately in need of funds as they rely on voluntary donations. They really do need some more stable funding if they are to be able to continue to offer their amazing services. Please help them and know that your help will save the lives of many. I appreciate that you get many demands for funds. I support Marleys because of their great work and because the animals need humans to speak on their behalf. Perhaps you have some pets in your home. You and your family love these pets so how would you think you would feel if your pets had to go to a Rescue Centre. You would be told that new homes would be found for them. Suppose you went back in a few days because a family member or friend said they would care for your pets. On arrival at the Rescue Centre you may be told that you are too late because they have already killed your beloved pets. This would not happen at Marleys and you would leave with your pets walking happily beside you. I beg you to consider giving Marleys regular monetary help. God Bless you and Thank You.

I would support them to the utmost and they deserve our help for the work they do. The rescuers, the fosterers, the networkers, the cleaner-uppers of poops, they are worth their weight in gold. Zach Skow and all of MMDR's staff have, and continue to, dedicate their time and efforts towards saving and bettering the lives of these dogs. It is unbelievable their strength and enthusiasm. Watching them care for Splinter, Hooch, Diamond, Lil Zach, Miss Amanda, one can only wish we could all be part of this great organization.

I live in Baltimore City, Maryland and I have never seen a rescue group like Marleys. The extent that they go to to give a dog the life it deserves amazes me . They follow thru with each and every dog they rescue. NO matter the horrific story that comes with that dog, they make sure that abused dog will never have a life like that again. The medical care that they seek out for each dog blows me away. From the wheelchairs, to the surgery to the meds needed to make sure these dogs have amazing lives is beyond comparison. I support them 100% in every thing they do . I love Marley's Mutt Dog Rescue and tell everyone about them. I have the calendar hanging at my desk at work and tell the story of each dog to any client that will listen. I work for a law firm, nothing to do with rescue groups at all, but I pass along Marleys wonderul work around as much as I can

They are a wonderful organization. Each person works tirelessly to make sure each dog has a fighting chance. They have rehabilitated abandoned and abused dogs that would have been put down if they remained in a shelter. Some of the dogs have been used as fighting/bait dogs, as well. Marley's Mutts never gives up and does everything they can to show love and compassion in order to gain the trust of the dogs, who, up until they were rescued, had been let down by humans.

I am new to Marley's Mutts but I absolutely love this rescue. Since I have started following them on Facebook my life has started to point me in a specific direction. The fact they can save dogs from another Country and make a difference to one dog and one person makes all the difference. I am now getting my foot in the door. I am starting to work in a dog kennel and am hoping to start my own small rescue someday! They give these dogs a chance they definitely would not have otherwise. A wonderful organization that Zach and all his crew have build. Zach not only used these dogs to build himself up in body and spirit but has made a HUGE contribution to dogs in California, Asia and New York.

The Mutt Militia (Marley's Mutts) is an incredible organization. They cannot help every single animal...but aim to save as many as they can. They have made a huge difference in many human and animals lives!! Whether an animal is surrendered, abandoned, abused, neglected, beaten or tortured, they have taken them in and provided medical care and nursed them back to health and adopted them into loving families. We could use many more people like the Mutt Militia. I wish they had more funding to do much more good deeds!!

Reading Zach's own life story, as well as the amazing rescues of "end stage" dogs with no other chance, brings me to tears each time. But through each story there is hope and in most cases tears of joy at the happy endings! Someone has to be knocking down the door to make this into a movie, so the entire world knows how great it feels to be part of the Mutt Militia! ! A cause that really matters.

For rescues o take the small, fluffy, highly adoptable animals from our shelters is on thing. I will not minimize their work. But to take the large, injured, abused, homely large dogs and breath life and respect back into these broken souls is where the real work is. Marley's Mutts is this rescue that is not afraid of the hard work

I am not sure how I came upon Marley's Mutts but I am thankful that I have. I have been following MM's for quite some time now. I am amazed by Zach and all those who are involved with this rescue. The love, dedication and hard work that MM's provides on a daily basis to so many dogs in need simply blows me away. I have cried both from sadness and from joy more times than I can remember. The stories, the photos, the videos, the constant updates on each dog is just beyond remarkable. Zach's journey has completely blown me away. Although I am not in a position to adopt at this time, each one of these pups has made a permanent mark in my heart. I log into FB every day so that I can read each and every post MM's has posted. Zach is an angel from God and this is what he was born to do! I live in Mass. If I lived where MM's is located, I would already have been a part of this truly loving family. This rescue has saved lives.....both human and dog and I cannot thank them enough.

Marley Mutts Dog Rescue is an amazing rescue. They live by their creed: Rescuing Dogs, rescuing people. Zach is the top leader with many hard working recruits. Zach was brought back from deaths door, of his own making, by his dogs who helped him, so he is paying back by rescuing. Zach has brought quite a few dogs from the brink of being put down because of illness, skin disease, paralyzed, tongueless dogs. I met some of the hard working mutt militia when I did volunteering with them. They follow thru with helping these dogs by healing, spaying, training and adopting them out to wonderful families. I have been following on Facebook for a couple years now. They are always on the go with programs set up with their trained dogs to go to schools to educate kids, they do a reading program called Bark for Dogs at the library, they go to the missions to work with the dogs and women/men. They have Spay Neuter program set up. I could go on with more things they do.

The way Marleys Mutts communicates the rescue of abused animals and the awareness that we all need to know about if we are going to have a NO KILL country, because that is the ultimate goal to find a deserving person who needs the animal as much as the animal needs them. This rescue is having a HUGE impact not only on the town it's centered in but surrounding towns and across the nation. They are rescuing many special needs dogs from shelters and getting them the medical care they need and all rescues are fostered in carefully selected and trained homes so they all are not just avoiding death and being put in yet one more cage but they are placed in with families that give them love and nurturing. And the rescue fully supports and aids those homes. They are hugely involved in the community in educating both young and old alike and reaching out to homeless shelters and drawing people in and reading with children and libraries.
Their outreach is more than I can even list here.
They fully support other rescues and won't stoop to criticizing or engage in negative talk.
They are continually educating themselves and learning all they can about training dogs. They take in all breeds but very sensitive to Pit bull breeds who need a little extra help to get adopted.
They are known for the highest level of ethics. They treat all the dogs with dignity and love. They are worthy of trust and support.
They are making a real difference. And that 5 star rating is not casually made. They FAR exceed expectations.

I ran across another rescue site that shared a story about Hooch. I went directly to the page that had the original story of Hooch and was in awe. The love these people showed a dog who had been so hurt and would take so much of their time to help completely blew me away. Since then I have seen them help find wheels for dogs to be able to walk without having to drag there back feet (Tesla and Skylar), and to help Master Splinter find the perfect home for him. The list could go on and on but just know this rescue has the ability to go above and beyond what any person could say is normal.

They make decisions about the dogs in their care, always in the dogs favour (whether it will be a popular decision with the "sofa sitting commentors" or not.) They are marvellous, taking on the worst cases, that need time, love and money spent on them. This they do in abundance and to see the difference in these poor animals in a relatively short time is absolutely amazing! I am in the UK and can only follow and support this team on Facebook. Marleys Mutts is exactly what a rescue needs to be. They utilize the entire rescue community to do more than what could ever be done with just a few volunteers. They consistently keep their community up to date on all the cases they take on. They complete behavior rehabilitation, tightly screen fosters and adopters, and give the community as a whole a place to be educated on spay\neuter advantages. Marleys Mutts is pretty darn impressive. They are a multifaceted Rescue that brings broken dogs into the world of dogs succeeding at life and their trust of humans and other dogs and finding they can both get and give love. They take all dogs and truly care for them and find them good people to take them into their home and hearts. What touches me most about them is that many times they take dogs that truly are only half dogs, paralyzed in their back legs only capable of somehow dragging half of their non working limbs to barely move or moving forward and having the parts of their bodies that drag on the ground get scraped and bruised and infected. They find harnesses to literally hold up the back end of the dogs and enable them to walk using their front legs to carry them forward without hurting the non working parts of their back legs. Or they fit them with wheels holding up the back of their bodies so that their front legs are able to carry their weight and move all around like other dogs. So to see their care and patience teaching their broken dogs to realize they are now capable of being whole is seeing the whole hearts and love from the role of Marleys Mutts. They turn hope into success in the best and kindest of ways. They are as gentle with the animals as the animals in turn become calm and gentle fully functioning dogs interacting with love and trust toward people even though their hardships of non working bodies was generally caused by cruel people. Marleys Mutts is the epitomy of kindness, compassion, empathy and love. And I love that!

As a relatively new Facebook user I am pleasantly amazed at how connected the posts and comments make me feel to the matter being discussed. Marley's Mutts brings us into a part of the animal rescue world with some horrendous cases yet always with an undying optimism that what they, and the Mutt Militia, matters. The spin offs such as Master Splinter, are crucial to keeping the energy going. Animal rescue is a one animal at a time, 24x7 calling. This group is innovative, tireless and loving to these innocent silent furry (most of the time) bodies--they don't view them as victims but as hearts and souls that deserve peace and love.

Marleys Mutts came to my notice on Facebook and I look forward every day to reading about and seeing pix and videos of the beautiful and deserving dogs they rescue. They do the hard work that many of us should do and so very much admire. This is necessary and vital work - no dog is too large or small, breed does not matter. Truly they do remarkable work 365 days a year with kindness and love for all the dogs that pass through Marleys Mutts to go to forever homes.

I've lied in several states from Michigan to California. I've been the guardian of many dogs over my 67+ years, and have had my share of 'encounters' with rescue organizations. Some were good, some not-so-much. HOWEVER!! I've watched MARLEY'S MUTTS now for quite some time, and am totally in awe as well as amazingly impressed with the compassion, determination and dedication of this organization and the staff/volunteers that make it up!! I only wish I were able to 'get involved' myself!!! But, sadly, my health doesn't allow for me to dive in head-first, like I'd really love to do. So, I will do what I can, donate and pray that each and every dog they have the power to rescue, survives, and lives to save someone themselves, as they all seem to do!!! I so love dogs and my heart goes to each of these angels for the work they have been called to do!! God bless each of them!!!

My mom and I have been following Zach Skow and Marley's Mutts Dog Rescue for a long time now. There are not very many inspirational men that dedicate themselves to helping animals which is what Zach lives to do. His personal message comes through with every picture and writing about the animals he and his group help every day. He is a hero to all dogs and animals that need assistance and help in any way possible. I'm very happy to write this review and give 5 stars. I hope it helps his group get more funds to help more animals find happy lives and homes.

I have been following Marley's Mutt's for about a year. Seeing the rescues they've made was very inspiring but there was so much more.. they don't just rescue. They rehabilitate the sweet souls that have been abused, abandoned, tortured and neglected. They immediately make sure they get what they need... medical attention, and love. Some of these animals have been living in Hell for a long time. Some have been kept in horrible conditions, outside with never enough to eat or drink..no human touch, no kindness at all. Marley's showers them with all the love they can handle and then some. Seeing the transformation from the rescue to the journey of healing, trust, learning how to behave around people, animals.. it's remarkable When the goal is reached.. and it will be when the time is right..Marley's doesn't just rush these animals to a new home.. they make sure that they are ready so the successful adoption can happen.

There are so many good Rescue Shelters and I would place Marley's Mutts right at the top. The fact that they not only rescue animals, rehab them, find the perfect forever home/family for them.. they educate children, adults on how important it is to be kind to these precious gifts from God. The dogs learn how to help as service dogs... it's just amazing everything that goes on at Marley's Mutts.. so much more than can even be touched on here.. I highly recommend if you are looking for a Rescue Shelter to support... check out Marley's.. They stand above the crowd in helping animals and people.

Marley's Mutts is amazing. They rescue the hardest cases that everyone looks over or maybe even turn their heads the other way because these dogs are in such bad shape it is too overwhelming and heartwrenching to look at them much less take them home and nurse them back to health. But that is exactly what MM does, what most of us can't do. Thank goodness for them because these poor babies wouldn't have a chance in hell otherwise. I can't express how profoundly your posts inspire me other than to say I rescued my first dog 3 weeks ago! Max is a 2 yr old 9 lb terrier mix who was "slightly" misrepresented to me, but because of everything I've learned from Zack and the team's posts, I have been able to handle the challenges. And max is also saving me...I had back surgery in November which went very well but I have depression and I just couldn't get active...and then came Max!!! He was adopted out twice and returned for "barking". I'm positive that doesn't cover it....after 3 weeks he still sometimes barks, growls and tries to bite my husband. And he's an animal lover--he has a 9 yr old rat terrier mix that adores him. So thank you for all you do to save so many of us and our furbabies! I'm looking into volunteering at a local shelter--also because of your inspiration. And Zack, if I could say, is an unbelievably generous and dedicated man. It's so obvious he is totally dedicated, but I think he should at least try to find a mate and have some fun!!! LOL!!! Thank you all so much!!!

I have followed Marley's Mutts for several months. I look forward to their posts on FB. It is life changing for so many dogs that would be euthanized. The dog abuse or neglect issue is being addressed with elementary school education. The multiple unwanted litters of pups that cause the overcrowding at shelters is addressed with their spay and neuter program. The best thing is the hopeless dogs that are transformed and re homed. Dogs are unconditional forgiving lovers. Over and over they show us humans how to live and Marley's Mutts gives them a chance. They truly rescue dogs and people.

I am a long standing dog lover. I have witnessed my share of charitable acts of kindness, bravery, and going beyond the pale.........honestly, I find this particular group has a "unique dynamic" going on among them that makes their rescues, rehabs, and re homing something very special to see. They each seem to have taken a broken or bent part of themselves, applied their life experiences both good and otherwise and channeled energies that could otherwise have been self destructive and self serving and manifested their energy into something POSITIVELY INSPIRING. I don't know if their group is unique, or if it can actually be observed and applied to rehabilitate other very desperate, lonely and remarkable people turning Marley's Mutts in to both a human and canine phenomenon!........(just sayin')

I have been following Marley's Mutts for, about, a year, now. Having volunteered and worked with many rescues in the Southern California area, I am aware of a lot of the challenges that come with running one and I see Zach, Amanda and the rest of the team handle these challenges with dignity, respect, compassion and perseverance. This is truly admirable.
Zach'a story, in and of its own, is extremely powerful and it touched my heart in so many ways. He seems to be connected to these beautiful beings in a way that goes deeper and beyond than just love for animals; it's amazing. The work Marley's Mutts does is twofold; they save animals and in turn these animals save many people and change their lives.
I love seeing everything they do for all the animals (and there appear to be quite a few).
The only issue I have is living too far and not being able to volunteer with the Mutt Militia.

I adopted one of Marley's Mutts, Bilbo. He was noted as a feral dog and thought to be a hopeless case. Brought in to a county shelter with his dog pack, he was so aggressive with the staff they couldn't get close
enough to determine his gender
at first. Rather than see one dog get euthanized, the shelter called MM and they took him I'm. At first their tireless trainer and foster extraordnaire worked with him and did what MM does... Perform miracles. Bilbo was adopted to a family who ultimately was not a good fit with young children and they
made the heart breaking decision to return their beloved fur baby... And so he was taken in and loved by their incredible
Foster Lucy who was prepared
after a while that Bilbo may not be adoptable. And still she poured all her love into him, because he's a dog and deserves it. So my husband and I come
along and know that Bilbo is meant to be with us so we can complete our family. It wasn't always an easy transition. Bilbo
only knew fear and uncertainty...
When we had doubts that we could make it work, MM was always there to answer our questions and help us work with him. Today little Bilbo is a well
adjusted, sweet little mutt who goes on doggy play dates and lives at the beach. He prances around the neighborhood and never wants for anything. Other
dog rescuers would have passed. He was a hard case and an risky bet but beyond worth the payoff... He's quite simply the perfect little dog. Thanks
MM. You helped complete my family!

I have been a MM donor for several years, follow the group online and know Zach personally. Zach has always worn his heart on his sleeve, and MM has naturally experienced some growing pains as his organization has gained attention. The pains have come as a result of genuinely trying to help animals in need, and people reacting negatively because their own interests were somehow affected. Have there been some missteps? Possibly, but improvements come after making mistakes and adapting. I am more impressed than ever that Zach continues to put his face out there as the leader of MM. He gets the brunt of the negativity and criticism. Is he doing it for money? Gimme a break. He spent Christmas Eve attempting to groom a horribly matted dog of a breed he couldn't even identify. He also took in Jack, a dog so sick with severe scabies that it spread to other dogs and himself. Would you shove handfuls of food into the terribly drooly mouth of no-tongued Hooch on a daily basis? Zach does this because he loves these dogs and believes he can make a difference. Thank you to Amanda, Lisa, Chris, Liz, and all the other volunteers who work to foster and train the mutts. You are a rare breed because you face the negativity head on and persevere. Marley's Mutts keeps the focus where it should be: HELPING THE DOGS.

Without wishing to "bash" anyone....I do wish that those who post erroneous reviews would make some attempt to get the story straight...and resist the childish impulse to make themselves look better at the expense of others. That being said, I have the highest regard for this rescue and for the founder. Having heard him in Texas a few months ago, and following closely with friends that volunteer with this rescue...I would trust them with my dogs...and that would be the highest compliment I could pay anyone.

Marley's Mutts are the ones to trust with the welfare of abused animals. They are very compassionate. And they go the extra mile. Whatever condition the animal in need is in. They value each and every animals life. And don't deserve the untrue slander that some have attempted to tarnish their good name with. This organization is the very best. And I am truly grateful that they are out there saving lives. God bless them for their loving hearts.

Marley's Mutts is a wonderful and hard working rescue that puts their heart into their many endeavors to teach the community about responsible companion care. They have helped do this with their spay/neuter clinics and outreach to schools. And, oh, yeah, another thing.......there are hundreds (maybe thousands?) of dogs that are alive and living great lives due to Marley's Mutts and their commitment to and love for abused and mistreated dogs.

Marley's Mutts is an outstanding rescue organization who is expanding their services and reach to animals not only in the area but internationally. I not only have a rescue pup from them, but personally know the principals who run this organization. They are outstanding individuals with boundless love and care for helpless dogs (and people). Their motto is "rescue dogs rescuing people," and they fulfill this to the utmost. They do amazing work and have a number of outstanding vets (including UC Davis) who works with them. They are well known to the local shelter staffs, who frequently call upon them to rescue dogs whose time is almost up. I don't have sufficient vocabulary to convey how very important this organization is to not only our local community, but to MM fans around the world. I love this organization and the people who run it ... they are among the best in the world!

To "Rescuer19" who claimed Marley's Mutts (MM) STOLE a litter of puppies from a shelter, leaving the mom behind - get your facts straight before bashing! MM was ASKED to rescue the puppies - the mom was feral and wouldn't let the staff near her. When the puppies were removed (and mom didn't have to protect them in a strange, scary environment), she started to calm down and was rescued by another organization. One would hope the rescue organizations would work together and not bash each other. Marley's Mutts is DEVOTED to rescue and often takes really difficult cases. I urge anyone interested to check then out on Facebook or their website - they are one GREAT group!

My husband and I rescued a St. Bernard from MM named Joe and he is wonderful. MM was upfront and honest about any issues he had, what training was necessary, and had him fully vetted. I would also like to point out that Joe had been adopted out to another family before us and when that family determined that it wasn't the right fit, MM immediately took him back into their rescue and placed him with a loving foster family until we were able to bring him to his final forever home. Joe's foster mom even came to meet us on adoption day, answered all our questions, loved on Joe one last time, and even shed a few tears before we left. I will be eternally grateful that MM not only saved our boy from the shelter, but placed him in such a loving home until adoption and went the extra length to ensure that Joe was placed in a home where he would be happiest.

There are not adequate words to describe the professionalism and depth of commitment I have witnessed at Marley's Mutts. They have taken on dogs that most people would have given up for dead/lost causes, turned them around and sent them happily on to forever homes. They work tirelessly to educate the community and reduce the over population of dogs. They have built a network of volunteers, financial supporters and Business supporters that is just short of astounding. Not many other rescuers in Kern County have the level of dedication and professionalism as Marley's Mutts. I have been rescuing dogs here for over Thirty years, I don't have an organization, just myself and a few friends, who do as much as we are able when we are able. I am a long time follower of MM and have nothing but the utmost respect for the constant good they do for countless unfortunate dogs. The decisions they make are always in the best interest of the dogs in question. They carefully consider each individual case and it's circumstances and do what they can to achieve the best possible outcome for every individual dog whether elderly or newborn. MM do not discriminate against breed, age or physical disability. They make it their mission to rescue and rehabilitate as many dogs as they possibly can, often in extremely difficult circumstances. Their success stories speak for themselves and will delight all genuine dog lovers. Aside from the rescue side of the operation MM also facilitate a brilliant spay and neuter programme and promote responsible dog ownership through working closely with community organisations. MM also engage in so many other worthy activities...such as the miracle mutts programme...that it's sometimes hard to imagine how on earth they manage to fit everything in. The world would be a better place if more people had the drive, determination and compassion of Zach, Amanda and their fantastic crew at MM. Their sole focus is on helping animals in need whatever that may entail. I wholeheartedly salute them and as a committed dog lover hope their good work continues for many years to come. T.Q

i work with a rescue in the los angeles area ... i see firsthand the toll this work takes on those who have devoted themselves to helping animals and educating the public. there are no days in the year that can be a day 'off' because the need is constant and the call to action is compelling. emotionally there is no way to measure the highest highs of a success story or the lowest lows of the loss of an animal. the top-shelf level of rescuers also dedicate themselves to educating the public about spaying and neutering to bring about population control to stop the slaughter of abandoned animals, to find ways to have the animals bring about healing and support for humans in need through training programs and public events. they also bring people together in a tight network of fraternity based on their shared love of animals and these people are the angels called fosters. working closely with the very places where the animals are in the most jeopardy (kill shelters) and promoting a personal relationship with the personnel within keeps lines of communication open about all the animals in their care is another part of what a great rescue does on a daily basis. i certainly could go on for a very long time about this and more that marleys mutts provides because i am passionate about this kind of work that can bring one to their knees in despair on too many occasions. ... this is a review ... i don't usually give reviews because they often feel too much like subjective opinions and judgements ... but here it is ... if every single rescue in this country could pull a band of people together to fight for one cause, raise the funds to do it on a super huge scale, create the media buzz and the following that marley's mutts has done ... there would be a whole lot less heart-wrenching photos coming across my social media stream every single day of dogs who will never get to feel the love and safety or the warmth of a forever home. to those that would question zach's motives and his intentions, i would only ask them to walk in his shoes for one week ... feel his exhaustion, anxiety, pain, powerlessness (and do it with his great attitude, vulnerabilty and smile) then see if your review might be written with a different pen. oh, and then congratulate him on a job well done and thank him for his servant's heart! i'm just sayin'

I doubt seriously that shelters in Bakersfield, Shafter, Wasco, etc would continue to call Marley's Mutts to pick up dogs in need of rescue. Zack skow was quoted as saying that he is living at the poverty line with his wage from Marleys Mutts. That really upsets me because I have donated to Marleys Mutts and know how much he is paid. He is paid a salary of 40,000 a year, the poverty line for one person in around 12,000. Zach makes more than three times the amount of the poverty line. What is sad is that a lot of his donations come from people who make less than he does. He also has his housing paid for by Marleys Mutts. He also took 10k from the Mutt fans to fund his back surgery. Most of his fans are cult like and will pounce on me for this review, but I urge you to look at the finances. How much of their donations goes to helping dogs, and how much goes to salaries. Zack works a lot, I understand, but you are doing what you love. This is a non profit business, and a lot of non profits work crazy hours. I don't mean to speak ill of any rescue, but they have grown too big. And it isn't about rescuing dogs it's about what kind of money can they generate from the "sad" cases. While smaller rescues bust their butts trying to save anything and everything. Id be crucified on the site for saying this because they have a mob mentality. Sorry I don't agree that they're a good rescue, and that I feel they take charity cases based solely on the fame and money. And Zach does nothing while the other people do all the grunt work.

I partnered with Marley's Mutts to create the Barks & Books program at Beale Lubrary in Bakersfield. I have seen firsthand the positive impact of this program. It allows children to practice their reading skills in the axiety reducing presence of a dog. The dog doesn't judge or correct and soon the child relaxes and the words flow. I have witnessed reading levels soar with consistent attendance. Reluctant readers become enthusiastic readers when given the opportunity to read to a dog. This can change lives! Working with Marley's Mutts had been a wonderful experience. The Miracle Mutts crew is professional and passionate. Each program varies depending on sign-ups and they have always come through. We recently have added the Miracle Mutts once a month to our Sensory Storytime which is for children with disabilities. The Miracle Mutts are able to reach some of the children in a way that nothing else can. One young boy had only spoken 2 or 3 words throughout a year of Sensory Storytimes. All it took was a visit from the Miracle Mutts and he just opened up. He talked and talked to the doggies and that openness carried over to the subsequent Storytimes whether or not the dogs were present. I love the Miracle Mutts and their handlers. Marley's Mutts is truly changing lives for the better. Thank you, Marley's Mutts!

While I am no dog expert, nor would I ever claim to know anything about running a non-profit, I know the impact Marley's Mutts has had on my life. My best bud, Joe Cocker, is a Marley's Mutts rescue, and I have witnessed first hand the treatment that the dogs receive as part of this rescue. They are treated with love, kindness and decency in spite of some pretty overwhelming odds that many of these dogs face. I know Zach personally and can speak unequivocally about his level of dedication to this cause. He treats his unique position as a true calling, and has made more sacrifices for the sake of his rescues than I have ever seen anyone make for anything, short of those you might make for your own children. They make difficult decisions every single day regarding how to allocate time money and energy to best serve the community. Zach would give the shirt off his back to give a dog even the smallest amount of comfort. They deserve the utmost respect and support.

Marley's Mutts is a fantastic rescue group. They pour their heart and soul into rescuing dogs. Some of the ones they have rescued have been horrifically treated and they nurse them back to health to be adopted. Their spay and neuter program is a wonderful program for the local residents to be able to afford low cost spay and neutering for their pets.

These are a wonderful group of rescuers/advocates/educators. Jealousy and hate have no business here in this line of work. And for anyone to say otherwise, or speak poorly of a group who's done so much to help these babies, is speaking with complete malice in their hearts. People really need to use their critical thinking skills before they buy into a bad review. Do your homework. These are great folks, and rescuers need to work together for the defenseless, not against each other. Keep up the good work MM!

A few years ago our county shelter was being moved to a new location. In order to help make this a less stressful situation for the staff and animals Marley's Mutts decided to step in to help. They donated 2 bags of dog food ( approx. 35 lb. bags) which was donated to them from Good Dog. They also donated bowls, leads and even bathed the dogs before they were sent home. I know this because I was there volunteering in any way I could. Marley's Mutts have done many things like this and continue to do so for our community. MM raises money for spay and neuter programs and educates our children by going to schools educating our youth on adoption and prevention. MM continues to rescue dogs that has no chance of being adopted and those that have severe medical needs and or those that have been neglected or abused dogs. Thank God for organizations like Marley's Mutts.

Dear RESCUER 19: Anyone following Marley's Mutts for any length of time - knows all decisions made by them, and Zach Skow are carefully weighed to produce the best outcome for as many as possible. They would never just leave a mama behind & take the babies w/out good reason. So please, go check them out for yourself, read the reasoning behind the decision, and understand their mission is true & sincere. Don't judge w/out having given yourself this opportunity first. Thank you! PS. Regarding the person who said MM fans have a 'mob mentality', I would say consider this, perhaps we are SO pleased with the results produced time & time again by MM - that we are FANS, supporting a great organization. There's nothing more I personally deplore than a 'mob mentality', which indicates we can't think for ourselves. Here's my deal: I've been following them CLOSELY for over 5 years now. Heck yes i have their backs, because they've proven worthy of that support. So, I encourage each of you to check things out for YOURSELF. Follow long enough to make an informed decision. That's the right & fair way to approach this. Thank you! ~Cindy

We adopted Jude from Marley's Mutts in October 2012. When MM got Jude, the dog was very ill with pemphigus and several bacterial infections that had developed while he was neglected. We were given copies of the vet's file when we got Jude. After Jude left the hospital , he went to the rescue. They trained him and placed him with a foster parent. After we brought Jude home, I could call the foster mom and the trainer from Marley's Mutts for advice. It's much better than adopting from a shelter. I had Zach, Mr. Skow, Leslie and Lisa who all knew my dog.

As someone who has followed Marley's Mutts for the past 3 years, I have witnessed numerous wonderful and sometimes miraculous rescues. Zach and his Mutt 'Militia" are dedicated in serving the animal community. In doing so, they are also doing a great service to humanity. Their motto, 'Rescued Dogs, Rescuing People" couldn't be more spot on. Zach has been born for this mission. The dogs literally saved his life, when his life seemed to be coming to an end. Zach never gives up or in, even when circumstances seem to be stacked again him. This is how he focuses on the rescue of dogs. Truly an inspiration. I daily learn humility and compassion through the efforts of this group of wonderful people.

Why would one dog rescue attack another? Marley's Mutts is a wonderful organization, saving animals and educating the community in every way they can. You are both working toward the common good and should support each other. I've never met the lady making the slanderous comments, but you know very well the real story behind those puppies leaving the shelter and the feral mom having to be left behind. I support animal rescues of all kinds and have found in my experience that the BEST rescues are way too busy working to save animal's lives to be bad mouthing other rescues trying to do the same thing. Many dogs, cats, horses, etc will lose their lives this year due to over breeding. Please, just get out there and do your job!

What can I say about Zach Skow and Marley's Mutt's?

I was "window shopping" through dog pictures after having put my dog down due to invasive cancer. I wasn't really "emotionally ready" for another dog, however, I was looking. Then, my life changed radically with my Father's Diagnosis of terminal lung cancer. Within a month of his diagnosis, he was gone. (That year was just a raw one at that, I had already lost a staff member to a murder by the time I put my dog down). Needless to say, I was raw, in grief and emotionally lost.

By the time my Father passed, I submitted 2 applications to local rescues. One never even answered. The other was open to me coming and meeting a dog. When I went to meet the dog, the rescue was intent on my taking the dog home that day (they were pushy about it and I didn't have a connection to the dog they were wanting me to have)

Again, I went back to "window shopping" for dogs. I wanted an unusual dog, one with different markings, coat, personality. I happened upon Marley's Mutts on Facebook. I started to follow the group and liked that there was significant information on the dogs and great images. Then, one day, Shotgun Willie picture showed up! There he was.. my dog!!!

So I called, I made an appointment with the Skow's to visit. They were warm and welcoming (not to mention the dogs were warm and welcoming) I drove over 3 hours to meet SHotgun Willie. (I had to get my house dog ready again!!)

I followed up the following week and drove to pick up my dog. Sure, I wasn't sure whether I was emotionally ready to have a dog, my year was shredded with so much loss. Yet, Zach, his Father and the dogs made me feel I made the right decision.

I adopted "Shotgun Willie" who came with a deep history I know the rescue didn't know about fully. Marley's Mutts has been professional, supportive and evolved into a major organization that does so much more that rescuing dogs.

I firmly believe they are about rescuing people as well. I am not sure where I would be today had I not adopted Shotgun Willie. (His name is now Jax)

I have continued to follow Marley's Mutts. I am ASTOUNDED at the depth this organization goes to rescue dogs: they fly dogs to New York, they rescue dogs with major injuries and get the injuries healed/fix, they partnered with a women's shelter, partnered with a Hospice program, they do reading with local students, they are guest speakers at local schools, they operated a LARGE spay/neuter program, they opened a Northern California arm of Marley's Mutts. They have a large social media following.

The intent and drive that Zach and Marley's Mutts work with is amazing. The integrity with which this organization works is such a beacon in the world. They also help dogs and help people. What more could you ask for?!

Marley's Mutts is real, genuine and most of all dedicated to their mission.

Marley's Mutts is an extraordinary dog rescue! The love and care they put into these dogs is amazing. The work they've done with the county with their spay and neuter clinic is so commendable. Each and every person involved with this organization dedicate everything they have to help save dogs, and educate people. We adopted a dog from Marley's Mutts in May 2014. Our puppy was a rescue from the shelter (she was only a few weeks old, and had severe issues, which probably would have ended her life is she stayed in the shelter), Zach and the foster family nursed her back to health, and she is now a healthy, happy, lovable pup. Without Marley's Mutts, we would have this beautiful animal in our lives. Please consider volunteering, donating or fostering for Marley's Mutts, it will only enrich your soul and bring back some faith in humanity!

Anyone who has anything negative to say about MM has their own personal agenda and are not giving the public the full story. I have been following MM's for over a year. They make the tough decisions that are always, ALWAYS, in the best interest of the dog. They go the extra mile in the tough situations, helping the hardest cases with the will to live and being the voice for the voiceless. In the case of the Puppies and Mama dog that are mentioned; The Mamma was saved by rescuing the puppies, the puppies were saved from being euthanized, it was a team effort with the shelter involved. Is taking puppies way from mom the standard way of doing things? No!! But, it's situations like these that MM steps up and makes the tough decisions, saving ALL lives in the process. ALL shelters/rescues should be WORKING TOGETHER instead of back stabbing, taking situations and comments out of context. people who do this are only hurting the ones who need rescuing the most.

We've had the honor of knowing Zach and his organization since its inception. The Marley's Mutts team works with the best interest of each dog as their top priority-- we can personally attest to this since we've adopted two dogs from them and each came from loving foster homes where they received the highest degree of care and were only adopted out to us when they were ready. For example, we waited to bring Winnie home because she was held back until her pups were weaned at the appropriate age and when homes were found for each of them. She, just like all the other mutts that the team rescues, brings so much joy into our lives that she was definitely worth the wait. Thanks for all you do!

I think one of the best things about Marley's Mutts is that they educate the public about dogs that desperately need rescue and or medical care. I had no idea there were so many dogs in need of forever homes. My family and I were looking to a breeder for our first family dog but after being exposed to the wonderful rescue work of Marley's Mutts we knew in our hearts that a rescue was the only way to go. This being our first dog, it was such a relief to work with a rescue that has such a stellar reputation. We adopted our MM last December and I appreciated the time they took to get to know us and to make sure that our home and family would be a good fit. We could not be happier with our rescue, Timmy.

Marley's Mutts, Zach, and the entire 'Mutt Militia', have been an extraordinary benefit to injured, abused, neglected, and afflicted dogs in our community and beyond. These giving, caring people, not only rehabilitate these poor dogs, but they arrange for foster families, and FurEver homes as well. Zach's rapport with the community has been incredibly instrumental in garnering wonderful support from not only pet lovers, but also medical advocacy for Marley's 'Mutts'. His passion for the cause keeps the origination thriving and moving forward in its objective of helping these otherwise 'helpless' FurBabies, and with Zach at the helm, Marley' Mutts will be able to achieve the rehabilitation and re-homing of scores of dogs who would have otherwise perished.

Beautifully organized nonprofit. Strong structure with amazing connection to the general public. They stay humble despite the (hopefully even more!) growing they have done. Amazing. Five stars all around!

We have adopted two dogs through Marley's Mutts and known the founder for about 5 yrs. We have numerous friends who have adopted their dogs here as well. We have always found the organization well-run, the dogs extremely Well-cared for and a very dedicated, small staff of volunteers and fosters. As this organization has grown, they improve their own skills and the quality of the rescue through extensive training, hard work and dedication.

Have been following for a while and finally met Zach. His purposeful intentions and his dedication to rescuing the dogs/community involvement are commendable & admirable. I'm particularly humbled by Marley's gracious support of international rescues on top of all that they're doing already. Having experienced fostering & looking for adopters, there's so much worked involed and I truly value all their efforts! “Saving one dog will not change the world, but surely for that one dog, the world will change forever.”

I love Marley mutts. They had a local clinic up in my town and everything went perfectly. I got my two boys fixed and chipped and they healed so well. It would've been so hard to get all that done without Marley mutts help (:

I had previously written a review here that was inflammatory, and frankly, unnecessary. Rescue is full of exhaustion, heartbreak, and very hard decisions, and in the midst of that, all of us have made mistakes. What I said previously was one of those mistakes.

The many dogs Marley's Mutts have saved speaks for their dedication to rescue. But it's easy to have compassion for a helpless dog; having compassion and understanding for people who can be much less adorable and agreeable can be far more difficult and is an area where many of us in rescue struggle. Marley's Mutts ability to do so, along with their dedication to learning from mistakes and improving, and ability to address a difficult situation with humility and equanimity is something that sets them apart.

My mother has lived in Bakersfield for 17 years. She has told me for several years about Marley's Mutts and the good they do in this area. I moved here this past August, and soon began seeing stories on the news and in the paper about the rescues, fund raising, and other good works they do around here. I soon read Zach's story, then saw an opportunity to join the militia as a volunteer. I began working with the spay/neuter division, and immediately realized I had found a calling. Working beside other amazing volunteers, all wanting to do right for the dogs is so fulfilling. I quickly wanted to do more, so I took on some more responsibilities within the group, and have also volunteered with Liz Kover ' s group working with the women at the mission.

This group does so many different things to save and help the dogs in this community. They are very deserving of funding and donations. They put the money to good use, no wasteful spending.

Marley's Mutts is a rescue like no other. They rescue and save dogs that are on a path to be 'thrown away'. I follow and donate because what they do touches my heart.

I have been following Marley's Mutts Rescue in Tehachapi now for the past year. These incredible rescues by committed personnel - Zach, Amanda, Cindy, et al. have shown these animals love, compassion, patience, care and hope. I enjoy their constant updates on our furry friends via Facebook. I laugh and cry and hope that these animals are adopted by special persons who open their hearts and homes to these animals that have lived in deplorable environments and conditions. Their weekly runs to various animals shelters provide lucky dogs with a second chance. They take in injured strays and provide the necessary medical treatment they need. I am so touched by their commitment that I have made small donations whenever I can. The merchandise, especially the 2015 calendar with some special dogs....yes HOOCH, I had to purchase. This organization is my favorite and I share the stories with my family and friends too. Thank you Marley's!!!!

Marley's Mutts is an awesome rescue site. They take in the dogs that everyone else overlooks and find them great homes. They also do an awesome job of helping the community out with their various out reach programs.

I have followed Marley's Mutts for some time and I am amazed at the dedication and love every member of the Mutt Militia exhibits at every turn. It is a herculean task to run a rescue group and these folks do so with a network made up of wonderful foster families who open their homes and their hearts to the most needy of dogs. Dogs with health problems that under other circumstances would be put to sleep or abused dogs that at first appear to be too damaged to be rehabilitated but under the care and expertise of the crew rediscover what it means to be a dog that finally knows love and kindness and becomes able to return that love a hundredfold. My own life has been enriched beyond words by the adoption of a shelter dog and I have become a very vocal advocate of spaying and neutering so that at some point shelters will no longer be filled with unwanted, lonely animals. The successful programs for low cost spay/neuter clinics Marley's Mutts offer is something I support completely. Every dog deserves the opportunity to be a beloved member of a family, the Mutts give so many that chance.

We believe in what Zach and the Mutt Militia are doing and trying to do. Their motto: Rescued Dogs Rescuing People. We see what Zach and the Mutt Militia do every day for dogs and people. They are trying their hardest to rescue as much as they can, most dogs are tore up and broken. They have a great connection with Veterinarians and dog hospitals and foster homes. Facebook and the Marley Mutt Rescue website keep us informed with all the stories about training dogs and taking them to the Mission, Bark for Dogs reading, going to the School of Autism and sharing their dogs, Spay and Neuter clinic, etc. And followups on rescued dogs. Zach's honest and open stories about his life and hard work, how he gets down, depressed and his following helps him back up. And they never forget to thank all their fosters, volunteers and donors. Sometimes they can't help a dog and it is very sad for the Rescue and followers but Zach and his Mutt Militia make decisions all the time concerning dogs. And sometimes they get a bad review because of those decisions, but I have been volunteering, following and donating for a few years now and I believe in what they do. They do what is best for the dogs.

This is absolutely the best non-profit rescue! They run a tight ship. All their fosters are trained in fostering. The love and care they give each and every rescue is amazing. They really are a family and treat all the people who help out with donations monetary and otherwise like they are truly part of the Mutt family! Zack, Chris, Amanda and the other are all Angels on earth!!!

Very upset with Marley's Mutts for their recent decision to rescue puppies from a kill shelter and leave the mother. Even after followers and donaters expressed concern and requested they save the mother, they refused to respond. Luckily another rescue heard about this and saved the mother...I will no longer support this organization, that was the last straw.

I just can't say enough about Zach and his Marley's Mutts crew. They are SO dedicated to helping dogs who, most often, have little to no hope for a life of love and tenderness. Their mantra is certainly; All dogs have a right to comfort, love, medical help and freedom to just be dogs. They are tireless and never pass on a call for help with a dog in distress. All praise must go to this amazing, caring, loving team of regular people who give their time and a good part of their lives to helping dogs in need. Kern County and the world, is lucky to have such people who serve great doggie needs. I love these people.

Marley's Mutts is my favorite non profit to donate to. I am an animal lover and this amazing group of people takes dogs of all shapes, sizes and health issues and figures out how best to serve each mutt! I am regularly impressed by their patience and dedication to the rescuing of animals. They have touched lives of humans and dogs all over the world. I also love that they are working to make Kern County a "no kill" shelter! How incredible that would be! Keep up the great work Marley's Mutts!

I am such an animal lover. Sometimes it seems, almost to a fault. This organization does such amazing things for stray and abused dogs. Not only in their own town but neighboring towns and places across the world. I wish I had loads of money to donate to this rescue but since I don't im happy that im able to tell about their success stories and triumphs in hopes that awareness comes to the incredible things they do daily for animals. Please review their page and help spread the word of the outstandingly selfless things they do on a daily basis. Everyday is a story of an animal who came from the absolute lowest place to a level of happiness and love that will boost your faith in humanity. Thank you Marleys Mutts for all you do.

I follow Marley's Mutt's on Facebook. Zach and his team are beyond amazing. They take in, care for, rehabilitate, train, and (if necessary) have the dogs treated medically. Truth be known, most of their animals require medical attention, for many of them, it's extensive. When the dogs are ready, the team finds them new, loving homes. Zach and his team work (and play with these amazing animals) tirelessly in the name of Marley's Mutt's. These are amazing people, working, what usually appears to be, at least 18 hour days for the betterment of societies 'throw away' dogs. I am in awe of them, and their selfless dedication, to the amazing animals that they Save. Please look them up, you will be better off for helping this amazing team continue their journey of love and service.
