This is a place in the heart of horse country that utilizes horses to make dreams come true. The one on one rewarding experiences offered here are truly inspiring, and the staff works extremely hard to keep volunteers happy and coming back for more.

I see miracles happen everyday here with the horses and clients. It's truly an experience you have to witness for yourself. Clients learn self respect, trust, over come anxiety issues , build friendships, and gain a sense of independence when riding a horse. Its a place where for some clients it's all that gets them out of bed once a week to come for their riding. They love to be around the horses, The operation is run by a small staff and the rest are volunteers . There is a board of directors also.. If you are looking for Therapeutic Riding or just being around the horses doing ground work than this is your place!

I volunteer at MTRA every winter when we are in Florida. The staff are all amazing and because of them and the way they treat everyone they meet with such respect, I can't wait for January to come so I can help there again. They take such great care of their animals and make wonderful progress with challenged riders. They give so much back to the community as well. They have a program for veterans that is free to the rider in appreciation of their service. The miracles I've seen and been part of with the riders truly feeds my soul. Thank You MTRA!

I have served as a volunteer at the Marion Therapeutic Riding Association (MTRA) for a number of years. While I have been blessed with great health for 80 years, there are others not so fortunate. I, as a volunteer at MTRA, have witnessed the miraculous positive results that horses bring to those persons challenged with a disability. MTRA has a program for individuals with multiple sclerosis (MS) and a friend of mine with MS is witness to the physical and emotional benefits of riding a horse at MTRA. This is but one of the programs that MTRA brings to their community that makes a difference in the lives of many. I am proud to be a volunteer and donor to this outstanding organization.

What I love about this place is the warm and friendly atmosphere that is so lovingly created both for the riders and the horses. There is so much love flowing here from every direction. If you know someone who wants or needs to break free from their limitations, this is the place for them. I remember my first day there watching all the riders and I could not get over how well they were all doing. These are children and adults with sometimes quite severe limitations and yet these horses bring them back into this world. Everyone is dedicated and focused on the rider and their success including the horses. It is just amazing to watch and even more to be able to participate. God has truly blessed this place and you will find the volunteers and staff will truly meet and exceed your expectations. They are fun, loving, kind and just a pleasure to work with.

MTRA operates with a small paid staff and a team of about 100 very dedicated volunteers. MTRA has helped to change the lives of so many people dealing with physical, intellectual, and physical challenges. Some of the riders are able to pay for their lessons but the fees charged only cover about 50% of the actual cost. Veterans and students at the Hillcrest School are not charged a fee to participate. Obviously, MTRA can only exist with the financial support of the community. Visit MTRA and see the extraordinary work they do. Perhaps you can join me by donating your time or giving a monetary donation to keep the program alive.

Volunteering at MTRA means you get to witness the miracle that happens between a horse and a rider with a disability. I've heard a child speak for the first time while riding or watching a young girl finally be able to sit up by herself. Children and adults gain confidence and have less anxiety because of this wonderful program.
