Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Education, Scholarships, Scholarships & Student Financial Aid

Mission: MC-LEF provides educational assistance to the children of fallen United States Marines and Federal Law Enforcement Officers. Since our founding in 1995, MC-LEF has awarded over $63 million in scholarships and other humanitarian assistance and supported over 3,500 children. MC-LEF relies on the commitment of volunteers and generous donors across the country who organize events, provide financial support and recruit others to our cause. MC-LEF is sustained by a network of people who believe that the brave men and women who protect our country and our communities deserve to have their families protected as well. Thanks to your generous donors, MC-LEF is currently able to provide a $30,000 scholarship account for every child who loses a parent serving in the United State Marine Corps or any FLEO. In recent years, we have expanded our giving to provide medical equipment and financial support to catastrophically wounded Marines, as well as financial support for mentally or physically disabled children of active duty Marines. In the past, MC-LEF has also aided the children of other military personnel who perished in terrorist attacks and extraordinary events that have impacted America. MC-LEF is an approved IRS 501(c)3 organization that has been recognized for its excellence and efficiency by the Independent Charities of America. With only one paid part-time employee and a full network of volunteers, 98% of all donations to MC-LEF go directly to fund our mission. Although MC-LEF is immensely proud of our work to date, there is still much to be done to support the families of America’s Marines and FLEO. We were introduced to the Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation (MC-LEF) in 2004 and our association with it has become one of the best ways for our family to do something in support of our fallen Marines and Law Enforcement heroes and their families. To be involved with MC-LEF has been one of the best decisions our family has ever made. As MC-LEF volunteers and supporters it has given us the opportunity to meet many extraordinary people, ranging from the families left behind to the volunteers who work to make sure the sacrifices of our heroes are never forgotten. We can never repay our fallen heroes and their families for their sacrifices, but we can do something to make an impact on the lives of the children left behind. It is very humbling and emotional to personally present an educational account to the family of a fallen hero. To meet face to face the families of our heroes. We are all volunteers across the country with the exception of one paid employee, and since 1995, MC-LEF has awarded over $77 million in education accounts and humanitarian aid. You can be assured that your support and donations will be prudently managed as we take pride in making sure that as much of your donations will benefit the families we serve. We wish there would never again be the need to have a foundation to support the families of our fallen heroes....that there would never be another fallen member of the law enforcement or military communities. But unfortunately, we know that the need will always be there and we continue to work in support of those when the need arises. You will never regret supporting or being involved with MC-LEF, and knowing that you did something for someone who has given so much to all of us.

We have attempted to contact JJozzie regarding her daughters scholarship shortfall to no avail. We continue to reach out to resolve her particular situation.

I would have given it five stars but the savings bonds that were promised to my daughters when they needed it for college were not given to them in full. These bonds did not mature by the time of their college needs and therefore I think they did not completely honor what they promised. I would ask The foundation to be upfront with the families so that they don't totally rely on those savings bonds. I relied on them and at the time of my daughters college entrance dues but I ended up coming up short with the money. To be specific, a $30,000 savings bond given to each of my daughters who wanted to use them 7 years later was only worth about half by the time they entered their freshmen years in college. Misleading indeed.

I donated to MC-LEF after hearing how great this foundation truly is from a close friend who regularly donates. They provide educational assistance to the children of fallen Marines and Law Enforcement Officers. At the time of the tragedy, MC-LEF is immediately there to stand behind their fellow Americans by awarding immediate scholarships of $30,000 to each child who lost a loved one serving their country. Through MC-LEF, thousands of children have been given the opportunity to advance their education as their lost loved one would have envisioned. With 98% of their donations received going straight to their mission, they continue to prove they are among the elite charities that deserves recognition for the service they provide.
