Mission: Improving the lives of animals and people through advocacy, education, and support. Founded in 1907, the Marin Humane Society is a progressive, award-winning animal shelter, offering refuge and rehabilitation to nearly 8,000 animals each year through a myriad of community services, including adoptions, foster care, behavior and training, humane education, lost-and-found pet services, low-cost clinics, and more.
Geographic areas served: Marin County, San Francisco Bay Area, Northern California
Programs: We provide pet adoption services; a lost and found hotline; a low-cost spay and neuter clinic; class-room visits, shelter tours, summer camps for school children, puppy and dog training classes, animal assisted therapy for the elderly and disabled, Animal Outfitters a pet supply store, and a quarterly 28-page educational newspaper. Through our efforts, 8,000 animals each year find refuge, rehabilitation and life-long loving homes. Through the animals, we reach the people in the community to teach love and acceptance of all living things and demonstrate the advantages of having animals in our lives.
