Hello, I have been working with the Marian Chace Foundation as a grant recipient. This Board is fantastic! They are timely, diligent and generous with their time on the phone, by email and have supported my film project very actively with not only funds, but advice and encouragement. They are super knowledgeable about Dance Therapy, and are very responsible in allocating funds to projects that will fulfill its mission. THANKS to this wonderful group of people. “The Marian Chace Foundation of the American Dance Therapy Association is a non-profit organization established for the purposes of furthering educational, scientific, literary and artistic development of dance/movement therapy. It is supported solely by public donations and any profits from publications. Marian Chace pioneered dance as a therapeutic tool in the 40s and 50s at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Washington, DC.” (www.adta.org)
The foundation has produced many publications about dance/movement therapy and supports research in the profession. As a former President of American Dance Therapy Association, I support this excellent foundation and its goals. It is an important resource for the profession of dance/movement therapy. A co-author and I received a small grant from the foundation to support the first book about research methods written for dance/movement therapists. To see more about the foundation go to http://www.adta.org/ and click on Marian Chace Foundation.
I am a dance movement therapist with over 30 years of experience, and have been familiar with the Marian Chace Foundation since then. I was trained by her students in her method, and understand the excellence of that approach and the need to keep her work alive. Also, I was a recipient of the Marian Chace fund for a documentary I made about the use of dance movement therapy with women with breast cancer which has helped many women cope with living with breast cancer. The Marian Chace Foundation sponsors very valuable work that can help people living with emotional and physical problems.
