The management's mission of caring for residents doesn't exist. The residents are bored but staff doesn't care. It is easier to not do anything. As an RT, if you try to help a resident you are told by the director there is no need to. The hardest part of the job is not being able to befriend, help residents. The cottages are not upkeep.

The food served is terrible. The residents need assistance in basic care to look clean, shaved, groomed. They need guidance. I left because of the management lack of support in wanting to assist the residents. Feels more like an institution than a community. They seem to keep parents away and tell residents not to tell them anything. I cried too many times to stay working at The Village. You need to either not care to work there or the staff will hate you.

It used to be a great place. Sadly the priorities and mission have changed. The residents no longer come first. The care provided to the residents is not of importance to the administration. The direct caregivers are not paid well nor respected by the directors so they do not stay. The turnover of staff is very high. Continuous change is not good for the special needs population. The residents are not well taken care of. They are bored as activities have been reduced. They are not challenged or motivated as the classes have been the same for the last 20 years. So much sadness and lack of interest in the faces of the residents. If you can avoid sending a loved one there or if you can move your loved one to another community, you will see them shine and much happier. Remember that the special need population do not complain.

A great organization providing residential training and education programs for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Lots of opportunities available to folks with a multitude of diagnoses and available at age 18 to end of life(a SNF is on the 200 acres). Great staff..beautiful campus.
