Over 40 years ago, MAP International helped me do an internship at a mission hospital in Asia. That experience paved the way for my life's work. I recently retired as a medical missionary after 38 years in Asia. During that time, MAP International provided us with affordable medicines and supplies. They continue to provide humanitarian help all over the world. They were there during the Ebola outbreak in Africa; earthquakes and tsunamis; and refugee crises. Thank you MAP International.
MAP International is a generous nonprofit. The staff is extremely helpful, friendly and goes above and beyond to aid with donations of crucial medical supplies. They have supported the medical missions of the organization I am employed by for at least a decade. My organization does 10-12 medical missions annually, providing free reconstructive surgery for children around the world. Without MAP International, we would have a difficult time achieving that. I am so thankful for their ongoing assistance.
I was abandoned at the age of five years at the door step of an orphanage in Ilsan South Korea. I had polio when I was one years old and had to crawl on my hands and feet because I couldn't walk. My sponsor sent $10 per month so I would be able to be fitted for leg braces and crutches. It was an amazing experience to be able to walk for the first time in my life using crutches and braces. More importantly, I was able to go to school because I could walk to school. Life wasn't easy being disabled and growing up in Korea in the 1960's. I was very blessed to be adopted by an American family in Anchorage, Alaska. I was fortunate enough to graduate from Cornell University and Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management. Years later, I was able to meet my sponsor who faithfully supported me in the orphanage while waiting to be adopted. My sponsor lived in Walla Walla, Washington and lived in a double wide trailer. My sponsor told me she used to clean people's home each week so she could save enough money to send $10/month for my care. My sponsor gave sacrifcially so I could have a chance in life. Because of the sacrificial giving and love from my sponsor and adopted parents I'm now work for a nonprofit called MAP international. MAP provides life saving medicines to 10M people around the world who aren't able to afford these medicines for their children or themselves. Because of the act of kindness and love from my sponsor and adopted parents who gave sacrifically, I've dedicated my life to those in need around the world so that they too may be able to realize their God given potential.
