My name is Dominique Walker, I have had the pleasure of working with Valley CAPS for over 8 years. Throughout this wonderful journey I have watched a multitude of consumers progress in their independence and I have seen a decrease in negative behaviors. The consumers we service are happy to come to Day Program each day, learning new things, building lasting friendships and gaining daily assistance from well trained trusted staff members. It is truly a reward to know the work you do each day makes such an impact on the consumers as well as the individuals working with them on a day to day basis . We have continued to come up with creative and innovative ideas to keep our consumers engaged, entertained and encouraged and we will strive to accommodate their needs to the best of our capabilities. It is our mission to be a Day Program for adults with developmental disabilities by maximizing their quality of life according to their choices. It is an honor to be apart of their growth.
When I applied at Valley caps the world was painted with great leadership. I have learned if you raise the blinds it's amazing what you see. Micro managing is not the way to run a business. The program director has too much on her plate. Each time she appears, she causes a hostile work environment. She critizes certain assistant directors and kisses but to others. She degrades certain staff. Someone should tell her its not what you say its how you say it. Some should have Paul talk to her the way she talks to the Stockton staff its appauling. Don't worry the board will hear about this from licensing.
I am so glad finally a place to speak with out repercussion. I am currently a staff member at Valley CAPS and the abuse and mistreatment we take from the Executive of Valley CAPS is horrible and unbearable. We are all in fear of speaking out in fear of losing our jobs. We are made to speak great of this program. The man has a temper. Emmanuel was no angle yet is a god sent compared the Paul the new man in charge. PEOPLE PLEASE LOOK AND HELP US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have worked in special education for the past 17 years. I consider myself an advocate. Many of the students I work with will attend an adult day program after they exit their public education plan at age 22. It is important that everyone is treated with dignity and respect, regardless of the disability and/or behaviors. Valley CAPS is a program that I highly recommend. One cannot be taught to be compassionate, respectful, and caring. You either are or aren't. It has to be a part of who we are. The staff at Valley CAPS has this inborn trait of caring for our developmentally disabled population. When I've visited CAPS, consumers are given choices of what to do on any given day. They have access to go out into the community to work or to play. And, they are treated with respect and dignity. I've had opportunity to view Valley CAPS personnel and consumers at the annual CHOICES Conference, community outings, and working at various training sites for the past several years. Consumers enjoy the staff, environment, and variety of activities offered to them. I would highly recommend Valley CAPS if you are looking for a caring, warm program for your loved one.
Iam a consumer at Valley Caps. I have attended lots of other programs and I was not happy. I am very happy at Valley caps. We do alot of fun things. We work and help others. I love it.
As someone who works with students and young adults with disabilities it is great to see a program like Valley Caps that our students can transition into. I have visited a few of their facilities several times and have seen their consumers and staff at numerous events and I am always impressed by the positive interaction that they all have with each other as well as the variety of activities and programs for which they are able to participate in.

Manteca Caps is a highly respected agency. I have visited their various sites on many occasions and am amazed at the work they do. Their consumers look so happy to be there and everyone shows respect to each other.
I have lived in the community served by Valley CAPS over 30 years. During my life here I have observed, the interaction of CAPS staff with their clients in public settings. The care and understanding exhibited by the staff in attending to the needs and supervision of the clients is an example for all of us to emulate in respecting people around us. Valley CAPS enriches the lives of the clients and the citizens of our community as well. I am proud to be a part of a community that cares enough to support this organization that provides such needed training, care and love for those of us that live with learning and physical disabilities.
I have been aware of this organization for many years and have watched the impact it has had on people in the community. One visit to one of their sites and you begin to get a glimpse of the importance and positive influence it has on the people they serve. The interaction between the staff and their "clients' is heart warming and very professional. The simple smiles and laughter coming from the groups confirms the positive influence Manteca Caps is acomplishing. Showing a disabled individual new skills and how they are and can become a valuable, contributing member of the community is definitely being accomplished through Manteca Caps.
