Mission: At Manchester Bidwell Corporation (MBC), we have a simple philosophy – environment shapes behavior. By constructing an empowering atmosphere of art, light, music and a staff that strives to realize the genius in everyone, we enable our students to become productive society members. We are the parent organization of four affiliates: Bidwell Training Center, Manchester Craftsmen's Guild (which includes MCG Jazz and MCG Youth & Arts), National Center for Arts & Technology and the Manchester Bidwell Development Trust. The Drew Mathieson Center is also a division of our corporation.

Target demographics: We create empowering educational environments for adults-in-transition as well as high-need and at-risk youth.

Direct beneficiaries per year: In the fiscal year of 2018-19, we served 490 students in our youth and arts program, 80% of students at or below the low-income threshold in our adult career-training program, 17,000 audience members in our jazz performances and 5,500 people in our replication efforts.

Geographic areas served: Southwestern Pennsylvania and eventually, the world.

Programs: We provide programs that focus on art and music education, jazz performances, orchid and floral sales and adult career-training in several disciplines.

Manchester-Bidwell operates several educational and job training programs for disadvantaged young people and early adults in Pittsburgh. Manchester-Bidwell's ethical principles for how they deal with the people they serve - Embrace, Respect, Listen and Influence - are very impressive. Manchester-Bidwell's training areas include the arts (ceramics, digital arts/animation) and preparation for professional employment in culinary arts, horticulture (nurseries, commercial farms, landscaping), chemistry (pharmacist's assistants, lab employees for pharmaceutical companies), medical technicians. My overall impression is that Manchester-Bidwell is an extraordinary organization.
