My daughter was diagnosed with a brain tumor when she was 7 in 1998. She is now 23 and recently graduated college. I don't know how we would have made this journey without the help and support of the Making Headway Foundation. They give you hope and vision for better days, and when days are bleak they are there to hold your hand and help you bear that weight. They also support research looking to the future for better treatments and cures.
Making Headway is a wonderful, unique resource that is so needed by young patients and their families who try to navigate through the mire of health care, rehab and recovery. The staff members offers resources, adaptive activities and most of all hope. Making Headway is truly a gift to our community of those suffering head injuries and cancer.
Heart is at the core of everything Making Headway does. From running recreational and respite programs for families dealing with pediatric brain and spinal cord cancers to fostering collaboration amongst researchers - they truly care about what they are doing and are motivated to help in whatever way they can. If every non profit cared as deeply and worked as thoughtfully as Making Headway the world would be a better place!
Making Headway is one of the most dedicated and focused non-profit organizations that I have ever worked with. Their mission to provide Care, Comfort, and a Cure comes from their personal experience and passion to help others. I am so proud to be part of their work.
The support we received from Making Headway when my niece was diagnosed was above and beyond anything we could have expected. Until that time, I did not know there were organizations like MH. The support continued even after my niece passed.
As long as I’m alive, I will support Making Headway.
Amazing job, Maya and Edward. You’re always in our hearts.
Supporting families and children during after treatment. Friendly, loving, hard working, and always available for anything a family may need.
Myra and team are great they helped our family when we needed it. and it started over 25 years ago. They still stay in touch with us even after the passing of our beautiful Lori. xoxoxo
The Making Headway Foundation assisted us in staying free of charge at the Ronald McDonald House in NYC while we were visiting there for a clinical trial conducted at NYU Langone. Thank you Making Headway Foundation and thank you Ronald McDonald House for the amazing work that you do supporting families touched by cancer.
Wonderfully warm and supportive of my family and me throughout my experience of having a brain tumor as a child.
My daughter was diagnosed with a mandibular arteriovenous malformation at age 6 and we were squeezed into the schedule of a renowned noninterventional radiologist early in the day. Still...waiting, waiting, more waiting till the receptionist suggested we visit the Making Headway "playroom" a floor below. There we found adult and child- appropriate snacks... arts and crafts...a strong warm hand held out in welcome...and strong shoulders helping to bear the burden. That was Maya. Maya of the eyes that saw, the heart that felt, the experience that knew what fear we felt and what questions plagued us. We returned to Maya's playroom many times over the years, and each time it made the wait a little easier, a little more delightful, and a lot less lonely. Each time. Every time. We will never forget Maya and how she helped us through some hard times. Thank you, Making Headway!
I am proud to be a co-founder and board member of Making Headway since we work hard to make going through the horrors of caring for a child with a brain tumor a lot more human. We’ve been there, done that. Plus, we are working towards a cure.

October 1st marked my one-year anniversary at the Making Headway Foundation. When I started, it was clear that this organization had a remarkable mission and an impressive track record of successful programs and services for families. But over the past year, I have learned that Making Headway is much more than a list of services, research grants, and events. It provides vital resources and a safety net, offers a listening ear and a shoulder to cry on, and shows love and support for every child. As a father, a son, and a brother, I recognize this passion as something that can only be described as “family.” For 20 years, Making Headway has pushed the limits of what services are “necessary” in order to treat children as more than just patients, and overcome social, medical, and psychological challenges. Twenty years ago, we fought for child-life specialists; integrative therapies like art, music, and yoga; and psychological care for the whole family. If the hospital did not provide these services, Making Headway filled in the gap. The success of these programs was clear, and they inspired many other hospitals to make them part of their own standard of care. However, there is much more that needs to be done. I look forward to my second year as Executive Director, overseeing the expansion of to ensure that children diagnosed with a brain or spinal cord tumor receive the specialized resources and care they need to achieve their academic potential.
Our 3 year old daughter was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2012. Over the course of her 2 years and 6 months treatment I'm not sure how we would have made it thru without the love and support of Maya and everyone at Making Headway. This outstanding organization puts children first, reminds us that children heal through love and laughter and not just by chemotherapy alone. My daughter looked forward to her weekly treatment visits because of all the activities that Making Headway supports at her oncology clinic. Their arms stretch out not only to the patient but the entire family...knowing that cancer affects the patient, siblings and family as a whole.
Making Headway is a wonderful foundation that has done so much to help my son giving him the support and advocating for him to receive the best services he needs in school. The fun activities they have for the kids, my son is so much looks forward to attend.
I can't say enough of how wonderful Making Headway Foundation has been . In 2004 when my son first became ill with Brain Tumor and spinal cord Cancer. My Life was changed in an instant and forever . Alone in NYC Dr Allen said to me you have to meet 2 people Maya and Edward from Making Headway Foundation. There own personal illness in there family . Is what made Making Headway what it is today there own personal triumph to save other children some day from never being struck by this terrible disease. This was a start of a Life Long friendship There Patients kindness and Support got me through the worst of times. they had Support programs for patient and Parents .Making Headway Foundation is always in our Hearts

Your words inspire us to work even harder. Thank you.
My greatest privilege is working with parents and siblings in those cases when the child does not survive the impact of a brain tumor. Most people do not understand that tumors in children , benign or malignant, are catastrophic for the development of sibling's, as well as for the cohesive marriage of the parents. The guilt, anger and depression, as well as issues of childhood neglect, can be carried by siblings for the rest of their lives if not treated quickly and appropriately. This dramatically effects their chances of reaching their full human potential. Making Headway is the finest and the only foundation I know that seriously treats the spreading impact of this disease throughout the whole family. Without Making Headway, many more parent marriages would end in divorce, and many more siblings would fail to develop a normal, healthy response to the life experience. Making Headway does critically needed work at every level.

My concern is for all the siblings of our patients at Making Headway. By giving them equal love, respect and attention, they are growing up with far less anger, depression, and despair. Making Headway is the only dedicated foundation that treats the WHOLE FAMILY so that each survives and thrives to their highest potential. The medical research and care for kids with brain tumors at NYU is recognized around the world, but it takes a village like MH to recover the patient and family together. It's true that whatever happens, life will never be the same, but it's also true that the staff and volunteers at MH are happily determined to make life meaningful and beautiful again. As a bereavement counselor, I have never seen a team of professionals like these anywhere else.
10,000 stars for Maya and Edward Manley, and 10'000 more for our kids at Making Headway.

It seems impossible to believe, my family was introduced to Making Headway almost 15 years ago. This was when our then 7 year old daughter was diagnosed with a life threatening brain tumor. The combination of the medical expertise of the specialists at NYU/Langone and the kindness and caring of all the wonderful Making Headway people made a frightening journey a journey of growth and compassion. Making Headways was there from the beginning making sure our daughter could still be a kid in the midst of all our worry. The various services Making Headway provides families, sustained us through all the difficult days with the compassion and humanity they provide. Making Headway more than fills the gap that sometimes exists because hospitals and doctors just do not engage in. We are so grateful.

Catherine Lepone 06/17/2014
We are the ones who are grateful...to have families such as yours as part of our organization.
A great charity doing wonderful work. Tireless effort comes from this staff to help as many as they can. Great job!
We can't say enough positive things about this amazing organization that has helped our entire family since our son's brain tumor diagnosis in 2005. Educational support, counseling, sibling programs, fun activities and healthy snacks are just some of the ways we have directly benefited from this program. We love Making Headway!
Camp friends encouraged us to contact Making Headway Foundation and we are so glad we did! My son was given the opportunity to cruise around the Statue of Liberty while socializing with peers and making new friends. His journey has taken us on a rocky road but Making Headway provided one of those remarkable rest areas along this path that helps puts everything else into perspective. We are so thankful.
Making Headway supported not only my 2 year old when he was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2003 but my other 2 children as well. Without them I honestly don't know how I would have survived the worst year of my life. Their work and dedication has made a difference in my family's life and the lives of countless others.
The Making Headway Organization is amazing in so many ways. Not only do they give direct support to families who are going through various brain/cancer treatments they actively raise funds to continue ground breaking research. I have personally seen the reach and affect this group has on peoples lives and particularly on children struggling with the treatment of their disease. I hope this non profit is around for many many years to come. Dedication like this is rare, but the big hearts on board are even harder to find.
An amazing organization that has helped my family immensely. They provide us with an advocate that helps work with my daughter's school. Don't know how I would have come this far without them. Thank you Maya & Edward and your wonderful staff for all you do for families like ours.
It's nice to know people who understand what it's like to have a child with a disease. Making headway helps us enjoy all the good days!
The Making Headway foundation has done more for me and my family then i can ever thank them for. ever since i was diagnosed with my brain tumor. The Making Headway Foundation has Been there for me and my family. from support in the hospital during treatment and doctors visits, or just various events that we are invited to. when we are around people who are so caring it makes things so much easier to deal with The Making Headway Foundation is such a great foundation Words cant even explain.
I have always been impressed by The Making Headway Foundation. They provide support in many areas to children with brain and spinal cord tumors during their hospitalization(s) and to their families. In addition the foundation also provides on-going care services for the children and and their families when they are discharged from the hospital.
THIS ASPECT OF THE MAKING HEADWAY FOUNDATION IS UNIQUE AND VERY NEEDED. THEY PROVIDE EDUCATIONAL CONSULTATION AND PSYCHO-SOCIAL SERVICES FOR THE CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES. I WISH THAT THIS WAS DONE MORE FREQUENTLY BY OTHER NOT-FOR-PROFITS. IN ADDITON THEY ALSO PROVIDE RESOURCES FOR RESEARCH TO FIND A CURE.
THE ENTIRE MAKING HEADWAY TEAM IS HARD WORKING, DEDICATED, EXPERTS IN THE FIELD AND CARING. IT IS A PLEASURE TO WORK HARD AND HELP THE FAMILIES NAVIGATE THE COMPLEX SCHOOL SYSTEM AND MAKE SURE THAT THEIR CHILDREN RECEIVE THE SERVICES THEY NEED.

My brother was diagnosed with brain cancer 11 years ago and The Making Headway Foundation has been there to support us through the good times and bad. Since his passing my family and I have been running a golf outing where all the proceeds go to Making Headway. The Making Headway Foundation does a great job lifting the spirits of those families going through such difficult times. Pediatric cancer does not only affect the child suffering, but affects the entire family, and The Making Headway Foundation helped me personally through my brothers loss. I am forever grateful for the impact this foundation has in my life.
When my 8 week old daughter, Minty, began her battle with brain cancer, we were drowning in a sea of help. But it wasn't always good help. 2 organizations stood out in this din of misguided inefficiency: "Friends Of Karen", and MAKING HEADWAY. It is not enough to simply "want" to help. If the help is un-researched, un-thought out, badly managed, ignorant - the help will make no impact. In fact, quite the opposite. It is no easy feat to really truly help people, when they need it most. Making Headway truly enriched my daughter's life and for this I will forever be indebted. Thank you Maya and Ed. Mei Lai.
Making Headway funds the most wonderful programs at the Hassenfeld Center, making my son's visits to his oncologist a treat to look forward to rather a chore to endure. Making Headway, the people who run it and the programs it funds are very warm, friendly and supportive in a time of great need for pediatric cancer patients and their families.
I cannot say enough about Making Headway. They far exceed all expectations!

Catherine Lepone 06/18/2014
Your volunteer time makes it easy for us to do our work. Thank you for being so committed to our foundation.
The Making Headway Foundation has been an incredible source of inspiration and strength for me over the past ten years as a cancer survivor. With an amazing staff, and vast amounts of programming, they have given my life meaning and value - something I thought I had lost after being diagnosed in 2003. I can't thank them enough for all they have done, and wouldn't know where I'd be today without them... Thank you!

I found this charity after having neurosurgery this past August, I was looking for a way to give back to kids just like me. When I reached out to making headway they helped me figure out an easy way to fundraise and feel like everything I went through was for a reason! I ended up doing a spinning fundraiser raising over 15,000 dollars, and everyone that helped me, especially Catherine Lepone, were beyond kind and supportive! It's an amazing charity doing very important work!

Catherine Lepone 06/17/2014
Thank you! We are so glad you are part of our "family".
Our daughter was diagnosed with a brain tumor 7 years ago, at ten years of age. The Making Headway Foundation has stood by us every step of the way since then, providing our daughter and our whole family with an amazing array of supportive services. Their kindness, compassion, empathic understanding of the stresses we live with and their generous and thoughtful determination to ease our burden is beyond measure. They consistently and creatively find ways to help children and families cope with the impact of this serious medical diagnosis, providing help during treatment as well as continuing their assistance, addressing the child's ongoing educational and emotinal needs. There is no organization I hold in higher esteem.

Catherine Lepone 06/17/2014
We appreciate your review!
This foundation has worked tirelessly to advocate and fund research for children with bran tumors. As a parent of such a child who was diagnosed over 20 years ago , it is remarkable and quite selfless to me how the members and health professionals work together to help those afflicted as well as their families. It would be even more of a challenge to face the stress of a child facing surgery and treatments and Making Headway brings a wealth of information and support for the victims of brain and spinal diseases.

Catherine Lepone 06/17/2014
It's our pleasure to assist you.
Our daughter Allison was diagnosed with a PNET. THEY WERE THERE FOR A FAMILY FROM THE BEGINNING TO THE END. They offered so many services and helpful information it was amazing!!

Catherine Lepone 06/17/2014
We like your idea of more Pastors, Gregory. Good suggestion.
NYU is awesome and Making Headway is there to assist in the long term follow up care for the children and their families when returning to normal life! Our daughter was diagnosed with a brain tumor at 18 months. She had surgery at NYU and we were lucky enough to get into Mass General for proton radiation. Our surgeon was top notch and kind and our oncologist at NYU is brilliant with a huge heart as well! He was willing to recommend that we go to Mass General for treatment even though NYU would miss out on the fees for treatment. He did what was best for our daughter NOT for NYU and the hospital's financial gains. The care did NOT end here!!! As our daughter got older she started to suffer from SEVERE separation anxiety! The word severe is an understatement!!! Kindergarten was a nightmare as our teacher did NOT have a heart and could not understand that our daughter needed just a little extra hand holding because of her anxiety. I had to drive her to school every day and a different teacher outside the school (on bus duty) had to take her out of my arms and bring her into school! As the years went by her anxiety did not go away and finally in her second grade school year my sister had to drive us to school. I had to carry her into school. I was beside myself! Finally I remembered that Making Headway had a psychologist and social worker on staff available for the families without a charge. I had already tried other doctors that did NOT help us and were very expensive. Well, the psychologist SAVED us!!!! She has counseled me for the past three years and I have to say that I could NOT have supported my daughter and made her as strong, self sufficient and independent as she is today (she is 10 years old) if I did not have this help!! The doctor always answers my emails and is available to set up a phone conference when I need a little help! She is a professional with fantastic experience and allows me to figure out what I think my daughter needs...She has helped me to be a SUPER STRONG mother! She has taught me how to listen to my daughter AND hear what she is saying.. I have become so strong so in turn I have been able to help my daughter! Her anxiety is in check (and because of the doctors guidance, we did not have to put her on ANY medication). I like to say, to date, she is doing great!!! The directors of Making Headway are super kind people and they have put together a team that is PRICELESS!!! I am SO thankful!

Thank you so much for sharing your story.
The Making Headway Foundation changes lives every day. The volunteers and professionals involved with this non-profit are caring, committed, and tops in their respective fields - seeking constantly to improve the quality of life for children with brain tumors and their families and caregivers. From the research they support to the hugs they offer a parent in a waiting room and from the vast knowledge they put at parents' fingertips to the fun social activities they offer for the kids, the people at Making Headway are on mission to improve lives, one minute and one day at a time. This great organization provided such incredible comfort and support during the very difficult years for our son and family - just knowing there was a team of very qualified people to answer our questions and there was a friendly place where our then five-year-old son could comfortably wait for appointments. And even as our 19-year-old son becomes an adult, we know that Making Headway is still "there" for us and more importantly, for him!

Catherine Lepone 07/11/2013
It's an honor to help all of our families. Thank you.
I have worked with several non profit organizations over the years and I was introduced to Making Headway a couple years ago after a friend passed away. The work that they do is priceless. Their enthusiasm and sincerity for what they are doing is evident. Its wonderful to see an organization put so much time and energy into making the children comfortable and providing resources to their parents, but to know that they are also working diligently to find a cure shows the dedication that they have their cause. I hope to have the opportunity to work with Making Headway Foundation for many, many more years to come!

Catherine Lepone 07/11/2013
Thanks, Megan!
My family has been involved for 10'years donating all proceeds from the annual Nicky Docu Memorial Golf outing to this wonderful organization that serves so many and supports research to help conquer this horrible disease

Catherine Lepone 07/11/2013
Your family is such an integral part of what we do. Thank you, Patrick.
My then 16 year old daughter was diasgnosed with an hermangioma on her brain. Dr. Fred Epstein performed the successful operation. Maya and Ed Manley, co-creators of the Making Headway foundation were there every step of the way, prior to and after the operation as well as yeas later inviting us to the picnic that Making Headway has every year at the Manley residence.
Maya and Ed are extremely warm, caring and affectionate to all who come in contact with them. Be it , the patirent, doctor, parents, etc. All of them are given extreme care, understanding, and love by the Manleys' and the rest of this wonderful organization. I can't imagine what that time of our lives would have been like if it wasn't for the Making Headway Foundation.
My daughter is now 32 years old, I have a wonderful 21/2 year old grandaughter, and every year we don't forget the Making Headway Foundation. Especially Ed and Maya Manley whose slow , low manners lulls you into their submission and generosity, love, caring and affection.
Thank God for the Making Headway Foundation

Thank you for your kind words. All of us at Making Headway appreciate the trust you place in us.
Making Headway is truly a special organization. The organization as whole has a genuine care for people that should be bottled up and served around the world. Maya and Edward are special people and I feel honored to work for them. I have witnessed first hand how their generosity and compassion has helped many children through a very difficult time. It is an organization that should serve as a model for how to truly help when help is needed.

Catherine Lepone 07/11/2013
Thank you for being a part of our team, Sabina!
Making Headway is a top notch organization run by truly caring professionals. What they are able to provide to families with children with brain tumors and related cancers is remarkable. It is a unique model of care and support for families and patients. The funding they provide for research goes to the top doctors in the field that are making incredible strides. Hopefully in the near future, this organization will be more widely recognized and supported by corporations who value their charitable donations going to a worthy cause and a respectable foundation.

Catherine Lepone 07/11/2013
Volunteers are what make it so special. Thanks to all of you!
The Making Headway Foundation goes far beyond foundations that are also raising money to do research with the hopes of finding a cure!
The emphasis on ' Quality of Life Issues' is superior. The foundation has formed an On-Going Care team to help families with many issues that they face with a child with a brain or spinal cord tumor. Beyond research and the importance of a cure The Making Headway Foundation places a great emphases on care for the chidren and their families both when they are hospitalized and when they return home.
Making Headway provides comfort supports during a child's hospitalization and also cares deeply about the child's family offering many comfoting services like massage therapy.
In addition when a child is able to return to home, services such as school planning, counseling for the family, therapy for the siblings and for the ill child and family are put in place. I have worked in healthcare for over 35 years and it is rare that a foundation considers 'on-going' care to be so important.
Kudos to the Board for making sure so many critical issues are supported by an amazing foundation!

Catherine Lepone 07/11/2013
Thank you, Patty.
Making Headway is the best non profit I've ever worked with. Their care and dedication supporting patients and families is comprehensive and since. That level of care and support includes the well being of those who work with them. They deserve all the praise and more.

My daugter was diagnosed in 1998. Her DR hooked us up with Making Headway and they have been part of our lives ever since. They do a wonderful job making the kids feel comfortable while waiting for treatment and helping parents get the support they need. We look forward to seeing them at their wonderful events for the kids and reconnecting with parents who have similar stories. It breaks me up when I see all of these wonderful kids together who have thrived despite horrendous odds. Thank God for Ed and Maya.

We are so happy we can be of help to families such as yours.
Making Headway is a wonderful Nonprofit organization that helps children and their families deal with brain and spinal tumors. They also support cancer research and fun activities. My son was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor in July 2001. Maya Manley and Making Headway Foundation helped make the long hospital stays bearable. To this day, my son still looks forward to the Making Headway activities! One time, I was able to get a massage in the doctor's waiting area after my son got a MRI scan! The volunteers work tirelessly and are truly caring. Making Headway is GREAT!!!

Treating & Diagnosing Tumors, infections & tauma in pediatric & young adults is for me very difficult. Making Headway has always helped me by being able to "give back" "to help" these same paietents - in a non medical way - so that the patients become people. Thank you for letting me help.

I worked at NYU for several years with Making Headway. I have volunteered for several of their events and have seen first hand what they do for patients and families at NYU. Besides giving financial suppot they give emotional support in ways I have never seen with other organizations. Maya one of the founders, volunteers at NYU with patients and I have seen patients cry when they come in and realize Maya is not there that day. She is loving and caring and makes everyone feel like they are the most important person in the world. We call her the Mother Theresa of Hassenfeld. The foundation pays for any needs patients have from funerals to food to psychological counseling and beareavement support just to name a few. I have volunteered for an annual event Maya and Edward have at their house for 400 patients and families with tons of food, activities, petting zoos, pony rides and everything a child and adult would love. It is truly amazing and the familes love it! Not many people would open up their own home for something like this. They are the most selfless giving people I have ever met and I strive to be like them.

We are so grateful for your sharing that.
As one of the original beneficiaries of this amazing organization (when I was diagnosed with brain cancer in 1996 at the age of 21), Making Headway was there for me. The support they offered by way of free psychotherapy and peer support were invaluable to helping me back on my feet and ready to address the "what's next" and how to get busy living. I will forever be indebted to their services.
their help for 60 weeks while my daughter was getting chemotherapy was incredible. that was in 1996. my daughter has been cancer free now for over 10 years!
This organization is near and dear to my heart as my own sister had a brain tumor over 30 years ago. They provide the services and support that were so clearly lacking when my own family went through this experience. Making Headway takes care of the entire family--patient, parents and siblings--providing help at every stage. They replace fear and isolation with education and support from the moment of diagnosis, through treatment and beyond.
I became affiliated with Making Headway through my dear friend, Holly Kensicki Lind. When she passed away after a long, brave battle with cancer, we approached the foundation in an effort to create an event to honor Holly. Making Headway was not only helpful in coordinating the Day in the Park; they were so grateful and enthusiastic in planning. We spent months working with the foundation on finding exactly the right place and ways to make the day special. When the big day arrived, Making Headyway was there to direct us and the Manley's were there to talk about the foundation and how they use the funds raised. They do such wonderful things for children and families with children suffering with cancer. We also got to speak in honor of our friend Holly and help to keep her bright spirit alive. We wouldn't have been able to pull this amazing day together so beautifully without the assistance of Making Headway. Knowing what great folks they are and how much they are able to help with the money raised, we are so excited to work on our Day in the Park for 2013.

Thank you for the beautiful review, Rachel.
This organization provided amazing support and resources for myself ( the caregiver) and my husband ( the patient). When Chris was diagnosed with medulloblastoma at age 26 we both needed support and guidance on how to handle this challenge. Making headway stepped right in and provided us with exactly what we needed. We will be forever gracious. Thank you from the Ravanellos!

We are so happy we were able to help you, Renee.
My family goes way back with Making Headway,my daughter Bari is now 30 years old . She has gone through 5 spinal surguries and Making Headway was there for us through each one. Living in the hospital for periods of time really takes a toll on the family but Making Headway was always there to provide activities, therapy and just unbelievable kindness to help make it bearable. At one point my daughter needed surgery in another hospital the biggest surprise was Making Headway sending her therapist there my daughter was so happy to see a familiar face and did wonders for her attitude and the will to go on. I don't know any other organization that would got that far to make sure their clients were doing OK. In college my daughter did an internship with Making Headway, she is now a licensed master of social worker and licensed child life specialist due to their influence.

What a beautiful success story! Thank you for sharing it.
My daughter was diagnosed with a JPA tumor in 2001. As this was 3 days after Sept. 11 in the heart of NYC, as terrified parents we were escorted through the police and military barricades to get her to Beth Israel (North) Hospital for brain surgery. We were given the opportunity to 'move in' to her room with her pre and post surgery. The first person who welcomed us in was Maya Manley, a true angel on earth who came into our room with a stuffed toy for my daughter to play with (she also trekked in during the post-9.11 hysteria, just to care for the kids). From that moment on she introduced us to the Making Headway Foundation, the organization whom she and her husband Ed founded to provide support to the children and families of Brain and Spinal cord tumor patients. Since that time, as Beth Israel Closed and the foundations 'play center' moved along with Dr. Allen to NYU, most of the surviving patients of Dr. Allen and his team moved along with them (us being one of them). The foundation has provided us with tremendous support (emotionally and information-wise) over the past 11 years (yep, Julia is 11 years Cancer Free :)) ), each and every time we visit the hospital for our checkups and MRI's we are always welcome by the Making Headway team, always full of smiles and cheerful positive thoughts...I cannot express enough how incredible this foundation is and the thanks I have for what they do. Any and all donations made to this organization directly support the children, many of which are in dire need, far from home and scared to pieces.

We appreciate your support and good comments. Thank you!
Making Headway helped us through the most difficult time in our life, when our daughter Elizabeth was sick with a brain tumor. They helped make her happy and comfortable in the hospital where she already was getting the best medical care. They had parties and clowns, and wonderful Maya to share candy with everyone in the hopital. They worked together with us trying to make everything easier for the family and patient. Since Elizabeth went to heaven in 1997 they have continued to help us. They had counseling groups and family days at their beautiful house. To help others we began the Little Bit of a Walk in memory of our Elizabeth. All of the money raised from the walk are put towards research because it is so important to us. This year will be our 15th annual walk. Making Headway organization is always helping us with our walk before, the day of, and after. We could not do it without them.

We are honored to have you in our "family". Thank you for all you have done to give back to Making Headway Foundation.
I have been invovled with Making Headway through fundraising efforts over the last 14 years. The people from the foundation who have participated in our annual Walk A Thon are all wonderful, giving people who have made a difference in the lives of the family members and friends of our angel, Elizabeth, who fought a tough fight before going to heaven in 1997. Making Headway is an inspirational, supportive community of people that will always be part of my life in memory of Elizabeth.

Thank you, Laura. We appreciate all you have done to support Making Headway Foundation.
This is not a charity - it's a family. Going through the worst time of my life, my son's tumor treatment, would have been unbearable without Making Headway. Healthy kid-friendly snacks, art, parties, massages for the adults, and a shoulder always available. Have you ever heard a child say "I can't wait to go to chemo!"? I did. And so much is going out behind this. The fundraising for research and treatment is phenomenal. Created by and run by a beautiful and humble couple, who has gone through this with their own daughter, they have pour their lives into this very needed cause. Thank you Maya and Edward. Thank you Making Headway!
