Programs: Our 15-bed facility annually cares for 45-50 individuals with late-stage AIDS, most of whom will call Maitri their final home. We offer hospice care and short-term intensive transitional support in a home-like setting. Our program services include the following: 1) Nursing & Attendant Care - with a Registered Nurse and Licensed Vocational Nurse on-site at all times; 2) Comfortable Accommodations - in single-occupancy rooms; 3) Food &Nutrition - three delicious, home-cooked meals a day tailored to the residents' conditions and dietary restrictions; 4) Social Work Case Management - assistance with accessing financial resources, counseling and psychological services, respite care, and spiritual support - especially crucial for those confronting chemical addictions, psychiatric disorders, and the effects of poverty and homelessness; 5) Resident Activities - regularly scheduled weekly activities (bingo, movie nights) and monthly outings, plus special holiday celebrations; and 6) Volunteers - 65 active volunteers who offer companionship, practical bedside support, massage, transportation, and kitchen and office help - training offered twice a year, with monthly in-services and meetings for ongoing education and support.
