I had an incredible experience as the Advancement and Engagement Intern at Mainstay Life Services! From day one, I felt welcomed and supported by the entire team. The work environment was not only professional but also infused with a genuine sense of purpose and community. Throughout my internship, I had the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects that directly impacted the lives of those we serve. The hands-on experience allowed me to develop my skills in fundraising, community outreach, and communication, all while working alongside passionate professionals who truly care about their mission. My supervisor was always available to provide guidance and feedback, helping me grow both personally and professionally and I was encouraged to share my ideas and take initiative, which fostered a sense of ownership in my work.

Mainstay Life Services has provided the most incredible experience that is fulfilling and fun-filling for all those that it serves. The staff is so caring and encourages all to reach their potential. My late husband, Charlie Ross, served on the Board for many years and instilled in everyone the passion to look at our lives in a way that includes embracing those that have so much additional potential and make it happen!

My adult son has lived in a Mainstay Prader-Willi home for 20 years, and our experience could not have been better. His house was modified to serve people with PWS, and all his staff are specially trained in working with this population. His house is cozy and comfortable, and his staff are outstanding. They go out of their way to accommodate my needs as well as my son's, and they are warm, caring, supportive and cheerful. They have made the house a home. Mainstay developed a Day program which he loves, and they go to great lengths to have him do things that interest him such as going to dances, picnics and Kennywood. I am grateful to Mainstay for all the things they do, and I can't thank them enough.

My sister Betty Jean Wisdom has been with Mainstay for several decades. She loves it. It is her home.

My sister Marlene has been at Mainstay Life Services for several years since the passing of our dad. I was apprehensive at first in placing her to a home I knew nothing about and wondering how Marlene was going to deal without her family being there. The love and care her caretakers give her was more than I could have imagined. It was a relief knowing that Marlene would be in a safe place. When you visit her home she'll tell you about everything she does...the restaurants they eat at, seeing a movie (her favorite is Batman), playing games, and another favorite, dancing with Pam - one of her caretakers. Boy can they rock!!

I was an intern for Mainstay and I learned so much from the department I was with and from all the others as well. Mainstay cares so much about the people they support and their staff members, too. The Pittsburgh area is fortunate to have Mainstay to help people live their best lives as they choose in their community.

I have been working with Mainstay Life Services since 2017. It has been amazing to see how the organization has evolved and grown in five years - especially how they have adapted with the continued challenges exacerbated by the pandemic. This past year, they had their most successful annual fundraiser to date. Although the workforce crisis continues to threaten human services providers across the state, Mainstay has made a real effort to address the issue by securing grants and executing large scale recruitment campaigns.

My sister is a client of Mainstay and lives at one of their Pittsburgh homes. She absolutely loves her residence and the staff! I was very honored when asked, September 2021, to serve as member on the Mainstay Life Services Board. Having practiced for over 20+ years, as a Physical Therapist, in clinical AT-service delivery settings and continue to be engaged in research activities at the Human Engineering Research Laboratories (HERL) whose mission is "to continuously improve the mobility and function of people with disabilities through advanced engineering in clinical research and medical rehabilitation" and vision “ to create a world where all people with disabilities have unencumbered mobility and function so that they can fully participate in and contribute to society”; I share these values with Mainstay Life Services, an organization that understands and encourages the implementation of assistive technology to enhance independence and quality of life for individuals in their care. I donated a musical performance for the Mainstay fundraiser at The Club at Nevillewood. The staff was very supportive and helpful. They made it obvious before, during and after the event how much they appreciated my support. Coming from a human services background I was introduced to Mainstay more than twelve years ago by a long-time board member.
As I met with the then CEO and his senior staff, I was very impressed with their personal commitment to not only the highest standards, but also for their obvious desire to improve the lives of the individuals who received Mainstay services.

Some time later I volunteered to serve as a board member. So, for many years, I have had a first-hand view of the innovative services being developed and delivered. They include a nationally-recognized Prader–Willi Syndrome program as well as wellness programs, and team-integration models designed to foster cost-efficient, caring MH-MR residential, community-based, behavioral supports, and life-sharing services.

It only takes a short time around individuals who receive services, persons who deliver those services, and family members to understand why everyone is so very proud of Mainstay’s results.

We work with many agencies in the behavioral health space and are very proud to be closely associated to Mainstay life Services. We are Technology Advisors to the organization and have met with all of the Senior Leadership. We have found each to be amazingly engaged and committed to their mission as we have become as well. The level of care and outcomes produced and the commitment to strive forward into higher levels of accomplishment are front and center at Mainstay. The leadership is very innovative in their planning and execution strategies to deliver quality service in a Responsible Manner. I'm a business partner who also is a volunteer firefighter in the area. We have several residential properties owned an operated by Main Stay. They do an amazing job with taking care of the people and assuring there safety. The staff is very professional and easy to work with. They put the people they are caring for first and that is the most important!

I want to start by saying I love my son, but we have experienced times in our lives that felt as if we would never get over the barriers and hurdles that life threw at us.
Our family life was at risk, and at one point I thought, we would not be able to stay together as a family, there was such a disconnect. I also struggled with juggling work and home and time for personal needs, then we met Mainstay.
Mainstay did not see my son as "thier client," they considered the WHOLE family with the understanding that our needs affect the supports and needs of my son's life.
Mainstay listened to all of our concerns we never felt judged, and that was important to me. We all worked as a team to find ways to improve our life experience as a whole. My son made it clear he wanted to remain home. Mainstay invested in us, and becasue of thier dedication, they provided a way for me and my daughter to care for my son as his care providers. I have been able to work with the security that my son's needs are being met, supported and monitored. As a staff member, I appreiate the thorough training and thier investiment in me as an employee.
My son's relationship with his CPS staff is a crucial support to ensure he has positive social interactions, Mainstay advocated for him to keep his behavioral staff.
My son was also in need of support for community intergation, so Mainstay took care and time to find a job coach who would believesin him and his ability to grow on his job.
Without Mainstay my family would not have the opperatunities we have.
Mainstay offers a variety of services that are important for individuals with disabilities to experience every day life.

Mainstay is not your typical provider, they care. Mainstay believes that everyone should be given the opperatunity to live a positive life, ....they see everyone as unique and they treat everyone uniquely.

Our company, Wellbridge Health, works with Mainstay Life Services in support of individuals with developmental disabilities.

To say that Mainstay goes the extra mile the people they serve would be an understatement. We have been truly impressed by not only the honor, dignity, passion, and regard Mainstay has for its people, but by its forward thinking and desire to continually expand what it offers and the impact on the lives of these individuals.

One example is their unique interest in giving their clients access to technology (smartphone apps and video chats with telehealth coaches) in a way that expands their lives (shows they can use technology, helps with social interactions) and that also can help prevent some of the medical crises that are more prevalent in the IDD community by identifying symptoms before they become emergencies. They have applied for and received grants to partner with Wellbridge Health to put this technology directly into the hands of their people.

Our interactions with every level of staff at Mainstay has been exceptional from program and house managers up through the executive team. We are honored to work with Mainstay and to have the opportunity to work with so many individuals they serve.

In my dealings with Mainstay I really appreciate the dedication of staff and the quality care of services they have provided to their clients.

My Daughter has been a client of Mainstay for 44 years. Our son, Billy who is 51 years old, has been supported residentially by Mainstay Life Services since 2013. After Billy had a total hip replacement and a subsequent revision surgery, he needed to live in a fully handicapped accessible home. Mainstay's Carlton home welcomed him with open arms. The direct support professionals are compassionate, dedicated and consistent with minimal staff turnover. Management staff are proactive rather than reactive. Families are respected and their input is valued. The administration is forward thinking and is committed to its mission and values to assist people in their care to reach their fullest potential within their community. Mainstay Life Services is indeed a great nonprofit!

I have been involved with Mainstay for over (10) years, either through my family as or as a board member. Both experiences, personally and professionally, have been life changing. What this organization did for my family was provide a safe, independent, enjoyable lifestyle that truly fulfilled my brother in law while providing peace and contentment for my family. I have been an employee of Mainstay Life Services for 10 yrs, they provide great services to all residents who live at their facilities, and those that they provide services to outside of the agency . I've been with Mainstay for a year and a half and absolutely love the company. They care about their clients and appreciate staff. They hold staff appreciation parties and holiday parties for all to participate in. I am so happy to work with this company.

I am a new employee to Mainstay Life Services, but have worked in social services since 1998. I have worked in several different states and different agencies. So from the point of view of experience, I can honestly say Mainstay knows how to run a non-profit business that respects its employees, the consumers they service, in a positive healthy working environment that fosters growth and independence. I have been with Mainstay Life Services for about two years now. I have never worked for another company that has been so rewarding. I have also never seen a company with such caring, amazing staff. We have great staff who go above and beyond their expectations. I plan on working here for many years to come. I can honestly say, "I love my job".

I worked for Mainstay for 13 years and left to try and find a better place. I returned to Mainstay 5 years ago and have never been happier- It is truly a great place to work for. I am closing in on my first year of service with Mainstay and have never been happier! The work we do is very rewarding. I hesitate to use the word "work" because that's not what it feels like at the end of the day. It's the greatest feeling knowing what you do means something to another human being, be it the individuals we serve or fellow staff members.

I am I former employee and I enjoyed my time there which was a little over 2 years. The things this company does for the individuals here are wonderful! The staff are always great as well!

I have no doubt that Mainstay Life Services are excellent at providing care for the individuals and families that they serve. The reviews are glowing and for that they should be applauded.

As a neighbor of one of their full care houses, I can say that despite an interesting beginning, they are quiet , decent neighbors. There are however two areas that can be improved to become good neighbors & better members of the community. One would be proper yard maintenance and the second would be respect of their neighbors' driveways.

Had incidents happened once or twice over the course of several years, I would have no complaint, but we have lost track of the amount of times that we have had to ask people to move vehicles parked in front of our driveway. We are not alone in this issue.

I understand that staffing changes and every one has visitors from time to time, but being part of a community means being a good neighbor. Being part of a community means keeping the grass cut and weeds from spreading.

I know that there are so many good things that this company is doing. I understand that some may find my comments to be petty. But when part of a service that is provided is to be part of a community, it should be done outside the home as well as within.

The general morale at Mainstay is vastly different from any other human service agency I've worked with in the past. The majority of staff stay employed at Mainstay for a significant number of years. I hear over and over that employees feel appreciated, and they in turn reciprocate that respect. Employees value the work that they do and are more willing to contribute to the agency's overall success. I feel fortunate to have discovered Mainstay amidst a job search that included several much larger agencies, and I hope to see it continue to grow and succeed.

Although I have only been at Mainstay for about 6 months, my experience so far has been excellent and very rewarding. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and they truly care about the mission of the organization. It's a great and rewarding place to work!

As the recipient of the PPG Top Workplace award and for being the provider of choice for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families, Mainstay continues to provide remarkable supports. Each and every day, the direct care staff amaze me with their compassion and commitment to those we serve.

The individuals that we support are able to live a life in a true home and be involved in their communities. I enjoy coming to work everyday at Mainstay and feeling like what I do means something to people, it is a great place to work.

I have worked for Mainstay for 20+ years. I still am amazed on a daily basis how caring and genuine the staff can be while working with the individuals. They truly treat them like their own family. I also believe the agency works very hard to ensure the staff are happy as well. That says a lot during these difficult economic times.
